April Fools! How is it April already?
Well many of you know that Cancer research is a cause that is dear to my heart. When I saw this month’s Mini set byMFT -Happy Mother’s Day, I was very excited because it featured Daffodil’s.
Here is what a daffodil represents:
DAFFODIL: Regard, rebirth, new beginnings, unrequited love, you’re the only one, chivalry. Associated with the tenth wedding anniversary. Also the birth-flower for March.
DAFFODIL, SINGLE: Misfortune.
DAFFODIL, SEVERAL: Joy, happiness.
As the first flower of spring, the daffodil is a symbol of hope. To the American Cancer Society, it represents the hope we all share for a future where cancer is no longer a life-threatening disease. You can provide hope to all people affected by the disease by participating in the American Cancer Society Daffodil Days.

Anyway-I love supporting causes like this. I made this card below, to accompany a bouquet of Daffodil’s for Alexa’s Oncologist as a way to say thank you!
I took the main image, and stamped it onto black cardstock. I embossed it with silver EP. I then painted it with my Pearl Ex and Future Floor wax.
It gives such a pretty look in person. Lot’s of shimmer.
I then cut out JUST the potted daffodil’s and layered them onto a punched circle. I had stamped the sentiment block from Behind the Scene’s , on the base, and layered this over it.
I don’t know WHY but “I” totally love this card! Maybe because it is so clean and simple-and yellow is the color of hope as well.
Now we will show more detail!
This is the same image, as used in the card above. I love the paper (by memory box Aerial collection) peeking through the space around her. I positioned the paper, so the bird was sitting there, as if in a window.
Around the block the sentiment reads:
Thank you for being a gift in my life, loving without condition, giving all of yourself.
Isn’t that what mother’s do? I know my mom did that for us. I hope I am doing the same for my children.
We shouldn’t JUST recognize our mother on ONE day. Or anyone else for that matter. I don’t think you “get motherhood”, until you become a mom yourself. So many things our mother said and did, that didn’t make sense-till we felt it, or the horrible day come’s where her EXACT words spew from our own two lips! You know the one’s you swore you’d NEVER say! I hate that! LOL!
Anyway-just wanted to share this stuff with you. Remember to appreciate your mom, or that other someone special, and appreciate everyday you wake up and take a breath! EVEN MONDAY’S! LOL!
I know I am so thankful that Alexa is *almost* done her treatment, and doing so well. I have a higher power to thank for that. Many aren’t as blessed.
So today’s message-give lots of hugs and kisses to those who matter-don’t wait for tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow-I’ll see ya then!
Lauren

Lauren…the cards are beeeeeeautiful…I was not aware of the meanings represented by the daffodil. Its always been one of my favorite flowers…because it comes back…year after year…a rebirth…fresh & new…..( not to mention…no replanting…they take care of themselves!!)…You are always so sweet and fresh…and inspiring. TFS! creative blessings, Debbie
Lauren,
those cards are gorgeous! You did a great job in cutting the daffodil out of the main image, wow! I also was not aware of the meaning – thanks for sharing that with us. I am so glad that you guys are on the home stretch with the treatment. Being a cancer survivor myself, I know that feeling. But honestly don’t think could even start to imagine what Alexa must have been thinking about all of this. I am happy for you guys!
What beautiful cards! Thank you for telling us about the daffodils. Okay, am I the only one who doesn’t understand how you use floor wax on a card?
I will share a tutorial then on the floor wax! LOL!!
OMW! I can’t believe how smart you are. I would have never thought to look at that potted plant (of flowers) and used it alone on another card!
You totally amaze me. I guess that is why YOU are the creator and I am just the student. 🙂
Again Lauren, thank you so very much for sharing!
Great cards Lauren. I didn’t know the “meaning” behind the daffodils. Thank you for sharing it. I am so glad for Alexa and all of you that she is almost at the finish line with her treatments……………..and taking the gold!!! Love and PSF hugs to all of you.
Very nice thank you card. I love all the different “thank yous”. And the second card is so pretty! I resisted that paper and now I ask myself WHY!?!
Gorgeous and beautiful again. I, too, love that yellow card!
I LOVE your second card, but to me those flowers are definitely lilies, not daffodils…
I can see why you want to see daffodils though! 🙂
I love the first card too, it will be a nice touch with the flowers, but (but, again!!??) the background stamp says “merci, thanks, you shouldn’t have…”, well if he’s a doctor yes he should have, that’s his job!! It’s true it can be hard to find a good physician and it definitely takes some “human” qualities on top of med school to be a good and compassionate physician!… but we should be able to expect that from the people caring for our health. It’s sad that it isn’t always the case…
Gosh, what with the grouchy comment, Bee!! Better go take care of that headache… :-S
I love that first card. I have a hard time seeing my stamps in ways other than how they were intended to be used, so I love all of the unique ways you use your stamps.
These are fabulous, Lauren!
Lauren, both cards are wonderful! Your first one is gorgeous and the meaning behind it is extra special! I haven’t done that technique in ages….thanks for the reminder!
Your second card is so soft and pretty!
LOL…I got my neighbour hooked on your blog now….so fun!
Have a fabulous day!
These are both stunning! Love the simplicity of the first with the sentiment in the background, and the 2nd is amazing the way you positioned it in her hands! Fabulous and creative…that’s why I keep coming back!
Lauren… as usual, you ROCK! You really rock! I just so love that card … I love how you ‘showcased’ the daffy with the TY sentiments in the background. Simple, yet, elegant. Love it!
Just Beautiful!!! Elegant and simple….I am so glad that Alexa is almost done with her treatments. Both of you have been through a lot together…God is so good to all of us in so many ways 🙂
Beautiful cards, Lauren! Thanks for sharing the daffodil meanings with us. They’re a sure sign of spring for me… and now ‘hope’.
I’m so glad you’re going to do a tutorial on the floor wax. I’ve had the Pearl Ex sitting on my shelf like forever… and the same with the floor wax (until I needed it and bought more). I’m such a ‘visual’ learner, I guess!
I’m so, so, *so* happy Alexa is nearing the end of her treatments. Praise God! You all have been through so much.
Big hugs my friend!
Renee
Laruen, thanks so much for sharing!
Wow, that first card is just stunning…what a great idea for the embossing, and pearl ex…WOW! The other card is beautiful too! And YES, you ARE that kind of mother, you are an amazing Mom!!! And I am SOOOOO glad that Alexa is almost through with her treatments! HURRAY!!! That is such a milestone…
God bless your family, as you celebrate Spring, and the end of the treatments…I’m VERY happy for all of you. And please God, HURRY UP and bring SPRING to us all!!! 😀

Again you’ve outdone yourself! You are an amazing artist, and sounds like you are doing an outstanding job with motherhood as well:)
what great cards and great message. Loving healing energy to you all, especially Alexa.
TFS the meaning of the daffodil. It is my mother’s favorite flower, so I know I will be getting this MFT set to make her a card for M’s day! I am sure your oncolgoist will be touched with the creativity and thought behind the card you made. Beautiful job, Lauren!
Beautiful… Love the new MFT images.
You know, Lauren, I always feel better after reading your blog. You really are a bright light and such a wonderful source of positive energy. And maybe it’s because in a lot of ways I feel we’re kindred spirits. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I love ya! : )
PS — And thanks for your sweet message re: my “pregnancy” — that Cammie is such a stinker!!!
Beautiful card….I love the daffodil and all the different thank you’s underneath!!! Blessings, Joan
Wonderful cards along with words of wisdom! Thanks for sharing! Have a blessed day!
Beautiful cards Lauren.
I too didn’t know the meaning of daffodil.
Thank you for all your inspiration!
Please check out my blog later tonite as I will have the first challenge up to help celebrate my blogoversary.
I will be giving away 3 blog candy pkgs.
I didn’t know the meaning of daffodils so that was nice. Thanks for sharing. I’ll have to tuck that bit of info away. The cards are gorgous, but I do have to agree with Bee that they’re not daffodils. It’s the thought that counts though, right? And I’m sure that Alexa’s oncologist will appreciate it. How many of us would love to get thanked for just doing our jobs? No one has to say thank you but it sure is nice to hear it.
Such a cool stain glass feel to the first one, very neat!!! Love the design on the second with making a window scene out of it!
Gorgeous! I love them both!
Hmmmmm? I know that the Daffodil Sale was here in Ohio a few years back, I don’t know why we are NOT doing it now? It is such a good cause and brings joy on both ends. We have the Ohio StateHospital-James Cancer Research Hospital, and they are very involved with the Susan G. Komen campaigns. If I were healthy I’d stir this up.
The first card is so elegant and beautiful. The second is so creative with beautiful paper and design. TFS.
YOur daffodil card is gorgeous! I love everything about it! I have not been impressed with the whole Pearlex and flor wax technique, so I am going to try it next on Dark Cardstock. The rest of your c.c. creations are awesome as well- LOVE the tool box!
Thanks for your creations and inspirations!
Diane

Is their a name for this??
It looks so nice cut out and layered
with the punched circles.
Your second card uses pretty papers too.
Great colors. Cute bird.
I love the sentiment!
*Alexa…and family are in my prayers Daily.
So wonderful to hear that all is going well
and that her treatments are almost done.
Hugs to All…
Dee
