Im still recovering-only on day #3 post-op. Jay is suppose to return to work tomorrow and I’m in a bit of a panic as Im still EXHAUSTED and in a descent amount of pain still. Enough that I can whip 3 kids together and get them out the door like I usually do.
I’ve been VERY nauseous yesterday and today, and my have to go back to the doctor.
I had an allergic reaction to one of the pain meds and can’t for some reason tolerate the vicodin, as it was beginning to make me very sick! Now Im on Darvon. Basically a strong version of Tylenol! LOL! Can you say one drink one drunk?! The doctor was so surprised at my low tolerance to narcotics. So cross your fingers that my issues are JUST med related.
I only added a few items to my Etsy store as Im just wiped, and taking the time I need to rest up, since I never do that. My blinkie for the sketches is all fixed too BTW!
Thanks again for the well wishes. I STILL have to watch Twilight! LOL!
I have a quick card to share here-using (SHOCKING) Stampin Up! set God’s Beauty. I made this weeks ago!
The flower is on vellum-dry embossed for some POP! Its very 3D and pretty. I airbrushed the butterfly. I love the pop of teal on the moss background.
Just a simple card I made while playing around.
Well Im heading back to bed, then will call the doctor when they open.
I want to post our Stamp New England stuff too-just haven’t had the engery for editing the video :C
I have a GIVEAWAY for that here when I do!! Something for you to look forward to!!
Wish me luck!

I’m sorry that the meds are making you sick. I can’t take Vicodin for that reason – yech! Sending gentle hugs your way.
Lauren, just take as long as you need to rest. That is what your body wants you to do. As much as we miss you we want you to be better, that is the most important thing right now. And the kids want their Mommy to rest too so she can get better and take care of them.
Twilight was awesome! Here’s wishing you a speedy recovery!
Lauren! I hope you feel better very soon!!! I know what you mean, one drink, one drunk!!!! The same goes with me and meds! I really enjoyed Twilight! The book was much better though. Wishing you a speedy recovery! ~Kylah
Sorry to hear you’re still feeling blah! Go back to bed and forget about us. We’ll survive a few days without you. 😉
Seriously … let your body get the rest it needs.
Be well.
Hey, Lauren!! Hang in there, girl! I hope you’re feeling a little better every day!
I had my gall bladder removed several years ago, and I know how you feel! I hope you get all the help you need! I’m sending hugs and good wishes your way!
Take care!
Sounds like you need to rest as much as you can. Operations take a lot out of you, so don’t be so hard on yourself. It will just make us appreciate you even more when we have you back. Take care of yourself, Jeanne
Hi Lauren,
For some reason this is the first blog feed I have gotten from your blog in a week! I have missed soooo much!!!! First- healthy (and soft) hugs coming your way for a speedy recovery!
Second- glad you are not a statistic!!!!
Third- We will survive with out you (hey I did for a whole week!), and just focus on feeling better!
Diane
I’m glad to hear that the surgery went well. Make sure you rest!! Hopefully the doc can give you something that works for you.
Oh, and PLEASE do not judge Twilight on the movie. It was cute and all…but the books were about a Million times better. Lol.
…crossing my fingers for you…
Lauren
I’ve heard quite a few people have issues with the pain meds making them sick, My hubby had an issue with one when he had stitches in his hand, rest if you can, you’ll be feeling better before you know it
Hugs

ooops I love the card and the butterfly airbrushed? Copics? I have an air compressor set up en-route:-) another 3 weeks I think Hehe
As some others have said, do not worry about us! You need to first take care of yourself Then you need to be with your loving adorable children. We will be fine. I am sure your creative juices are calling you but please get rest. That is the best thing you can do for your body to heal. Blessings……..
Gorgeous card, Lauren–but you need to be resting, not creating, LOL!
Hope the dr. can give you some good meds that will actually work for you so you can be comfortable!
Hi Lauren, I’m very glad to see that you’re recovering well. You need rest dear. I bet you can’t stop creating, right? We all need you well, and the kids too. Happy recovery!
I too got very nauseaus when I had mine out. The doc called in a suppository and even that wasn’t fun to administer it helped. I too have a low tolerance for pain. Just had another c-section and could only take one narcotic at a time, and sometimes that made me dizzy and nauseaus as well. Good luck!~
Oh man, I hope you’re feeling better soon Lauren! Take care of you and your family first:-)
Kelly
Keep resting! Hope you feel better soon!
Your card is very pretty…beautiful butterfly!
Hope you feel better soon, in the meantime, keep resting and enjoy your pampering.
So glad you are getting the needed rest. I hope you and your doctor figure out the best meds for you. Being nauseous sucks!!
Thanks for getting the blinkie code fixed! I have added it to my blog!!

Lauren,
I can relate to your ‘reaction’ to Vicodin. I have similar reaction. When my DH had oral surgery, he was given that and he said he had an out of body experience. It spooked him. Powerful stuff.
Hope you get to rest lots….I really think time is the answer to healing. Take care, thinking of your recovery.
Lauren ~ Hope you get well soon…I have been thinking about you. Have you read any of the Twilight series Books? I am on book # 3…and cannot put it down…I just bought the Twilight movie…talk about good!!! Great!!!! I am in love with Edward Cullen and even have a key chain with “Cullen” written on it…again…thinking of you and hoping you recover very soon 🙂
{{{HUGS}}} hoping the nausea is med related…but if you REALLY aren’t feeling well – be PUSHY. You should no more than anyone having been Alexa’s advocate for so long that if you aren’t ‘right’ they need to look harder.
Hoping the rest helps…Love you 🙂
Keep remembering it’s all about ME these days, you don’t want to have to return to hospital.. just be lazy for a change…..Hugs, Susie
I can’t believe I just wrote “you should no more….” Nice Tracey, real nice…
Beautiful card Lauren, luv that butterfly! Hope you are pain free soon! Rest up & you will be as good as new in no time, it takes a lot of time to heal. Some people heal faster than others so get down on yourself, hope everything works out when you call the doctor. (((Hugs))) Rita
I’m so sorry the meds are making you sick. Ihope and pray that’s all it is.
I love this butterfly card too. Just lovely.
oh Lauren, this is so pretty! I love the details in this card. Thanks for sharing with us when you still feel so lousy. There’s nothing worse than the sick feeling you get from pain meds. I hope you’re feeling better soon!
Ginger cookies might help with the nausea. I am just like you with a low tolerance of meds. I will pray for your continued recovery. Beautiful card!
it must be killing you to not be able to let your creativity loose……but take care of yourself and get better soon.
Aloha Lauren, sending big hugs all the way from Hawaii…my dad had gallbladder surgery last August and took some time to recover because he’s 88…but he too wasn’t taking well with the pain meds. But he is doing fine and dandy today and I know you will be back to normal real soon. Love everything you do for all of us, but girl, get some rest!!! Looking forward to seeing more of your beautiful work when you are well. hugs, Teri
Take your time! Hope you feel better soon!
This card is GORGEOUS!!!! I am so loving that set!
I’m sorry to hear about your reaction to your medicines. In an odd way, that would almost be nice…I have a high tolerance to pain relievers so I have yet to find anything that takes a headache away. But my husband had lortab once and it made him sooo much sicker than the original problem… So I can imagine what you’re going thru. Hopefully things will improve soon! Take care of yourself!
Lauren, take your time and rest. Hope you a speedy recovery!! Twilight was a great movie so were the books. I saw it with my daughter and granddaughter.
Well, Lauren, I am in more pain today than yesterday, glad your going faster. I got ill yesterday from I think takin’ to many pain killers, today I took one and so far no icky tummy, but did not kill the pain enough. I took vicoden with my wisdom teeth years ago and would NEVER ever take them again, they were bad bad bad. My mom took them once and did the same forher. nasty things, I can’t figure out why people take them for fuN! not me ack! Well, you rest and take care of yourself. I hope by the end of the week I can go potty with out pain!
Hi Lauren, I know what you’re going through with the pain meds. I’ve had 7 surgeries the last 2 years and I had a lot of trouble with the meds. Try cutting the vicodin in half and take only half every few hours, that helped me. Also, you need to just stay in bed or on the couch or lounge chair for the next 48 hours, let your body heal. You’re up and doing stuff which is making you hurt. I had my gallbladder removed several years ago and just doing nothing for a couple of days really helped. I know it’s hard specially if you have kids and you want to do other things, but your body needs to heal. Rest, Rest, Rest, let your body recover, it’s just been through a traumatic experience and it needs to heal. I love your work and inspirations. Take care! AND REST!
It’s hard for us moms to ask for help. We’re everything to everyone. Do yourself a favor a accept offers of help from those who are close by. Because you won’t be much good to anyone without proper rest and recovery! Take care!
Awww… Lauren – I’m sorry the pain relievers aren’t helping. My DH can’t do Vicodin either – me, no problem at all.
I’m keeping you in continued prayers and good thoughts. I hope you’re feeling better soon. REST!
Hugs and more Hugs,
Renee
I totally forgot to say…
Great job on the card. It’s simply beautiful! Love it! ♥
Lauren,
When I had my gallbladder out I felt the same way. But one of the reasons I felt so sick was because I wasn’t eating enough when I took my pain meds and it made me sick. So that might be what is causing it. Either that or the infection. Mine was infected too. So the my dr said it was probaly a little bit of both. Take Care
Erin
Hi Lauren..
Hope this finds you feeling…much better!!
So sorry to hear about the Vicodin(I hear a
lot of people have had the same reaction)
Get lots of rest..pamper yourself!!
Take Care and “Get Well Soon”!!
Hugs…
Glad to hear you are doing better. I was completely surprised to find you had 3 posts already.
So sorry about the med issues. I don’t like taking them at all so when I have to you know something is up. I hate vicodin, i was on that for a while, not good.
Take care and I hope your Monday is going well withough your hubby to help.
PLEASE FORGET ABOUT US, AND REST, AND GET WELL! IT STINKS TO BE NAUSEOUS, I’M SO SORRY YOU ARE DEALING WITH THAT. I KNOW YOU ARE IN GREAT PHYSICAL SHAPE, SO YOU SHOULD HEAL AS QUICKLY AS ANYONE. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF, DON’T DO TOO MUCH (THAT’S AN ORDER!!!) AND PLEASE ALLOW YOURSELF TO REST AND RELAX. LET THE OTHERS DO ALL THE WORK!!!! PLEASE!!!! WE NEED YOU, AND WE WANT YOU TO FEEL GOOD AS NEW, SOON. BUT YOU’LL DELAY THE HEALING IF YOU DO TOO MUCH TOO QUICKLY!
PLEASE TAKE CARE OF LAUREN! HUGS HUGS HUGS…
Rest is so important! You should just take it easy and not push yourself–even if you want to. Lots of rest now will mean you will be all better quicker. Take care…
Lauren-
Please just take care of yourself….we will be here when you get back. 🙂 I will pray for you. 🙂
Hugs-
Kathy
I am a half pill believer. I can take half a vicoding and just take when needed better than a whole of anything. Try it and hope you feel better soon. Remeber, you push yourself too hard and you end up taking longer to heal. Deep breaths and don’t feel pressured about the blog. People will keep visiting even if you (GASP!) take a day or two off! Sending love and wishes for speedy smiles.
Lauren, I’m so sorry you’re not feeling well. But then again – you’re not supposed to feel GOOD at this point. You had a very sick infected gallbladder that was poisoning your body. And you had surgery – just because it was “out-patient” and you went home the same day doesn’t mean it wasn’t BIG surgery. You had that nasty sick gallbladder surgically removed from your body. Even if it hadn’t been infected, I would still expect you to have pain and nausea too. Gallbladders can make you very sick! And now that it’s out, your body has to fill the space where it was so things shift around a bit. Plus your body has to adjust to functioning without one of its organs – even if it was a sick, dysfunctional organ. Girl, you are human! And even though you are super-human, your body still has to heal – you have larger wounds on the inside than the small holes you can see from the outside. I definitely wouldn’t expect you to be ready to take care of yourself and three lively children by tomorrow. You need help for a few more days. If Jay or the children had surgery, you wouldn’t allow them to OVERDO. Please don’t put such high demands on yourself.
When you take Vicodin or any major pain med, you need to put some food in your stomach before taking the pills and take the lowest effective dose. Try taking a half pill, then if you don’t get relief and you’re not nauseated, take another half in thirty minutes to an hour. Also you need to stay in the bed or on the couch. Getting up and moving around increases your chances of nausea and will definitely make you feel worse if you are already nauseated. Stay in a reclining position, nibble on some food and take plenty of liquids. Some people can’t tolerate Vicodin at all, but it definitely helps if you follow the “rules” when you take it. Sometimes people take pain meds and it makes their pain tolerable so they get up and move around too much and get overtired. All these things will lead to nausea and more pain. Your body is telling you it needs REST!
Take care of yourself and let someone else take care of the kids, the house and the cooking. The more love you show yourself in the first few days post-op, the quicker your body will heal and the faster you will be back to your healthy, energetic self.
I’m sorry I live too far away to help you, but I am sending you warm, gentle hugs and get will wishes.
I LOVE the butterfly card. How did you airbrush it? I always wanted to try that, but don’t know where to start and what to use. Your work is awesome and I check your blog every day to get inspired!!! Hope you are feeling better soon!!
Sorry to hear that you are having a issue with the pain meds!! The best thing for you to do is turn the computer off and get some rest! We will miss you but you need the rest right now more!! Will say a prayer for your healing!
Love all of your work!
Sorry to hear you’re having such a hard time Lauren!! Hope the issues all resolve soon and you can get back to life as usual (aka normal – ha ha! is life ever normal??). Just take your time and don’t rush it – best heal all the way then have a set-back!! Hugs!! 🙂
Lauren, i never thought i’d say this, and i mean it in the nicest possible way….please stop blogging hun…LOL..(hugs)….take time to rest and get yourself back to full health. I remember my gran feeling so sick with vicodin, she found nibbling plain biscuits before she took them helped. Rest and feel better, Stephanie x
Hope you’re feeling better, I love your blog and your dedication to everything you do you’re such an inspiration. Take care of yourself!!!
Hey girlie,
Hang in there! I’m glad it’s over, I’m sure you are too =) About the shoulder pain, I know about it, I had it too. And you’re right, I couldn’t lay on my side either so I couldn’t nurse my 4 month old baby girl =( Luckily it only lasted a couple of days. And I had forgotten about the sore throat, I remember, it was yucky. I lived on tea and cough drops (just to make it feel better) for a week I think. Anyway, still praying for you, hang in there! And you’re going to have to share your weight loss tips after I deliver #5 in July – I have a wedding in February of next year and I need to loose the baby weight pronto! Take care and don’t forget to rest – take advantage of it now 😉
—Jacqui
Glad to hear you are on the mend, but sorry for the issues with the meds. They don’t like me either! I pray you get some relief so you can get the rest you need. Know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Hugs~

Hi Lauren,
Sorry that you had an allergic reaction to the meds and haven’t been feeling well! I know that feeling after having that done last year! Hope you feel better soon!
I love the card, especially the butterfly! 😉
Angie
Wishing you a speedy recovery and that you’re feeling like your normal self very soon!
Great work! Hope you feel better soon! I had to comment since you mentioned Twilight. I LOVE that movie!! I’m offiially a Twilight junkie and have a pic posted on my blog. Hope you get a chance to watch it! I’m going to start reading the books now to catch up 🙂
You poor thing. I too have an intolerance to pain meds. Hang in there/ The doctor will be able to give you something that will take that horrible sick feeling away. Take care.

Lauren, sorry to hear that you are feeling so crappy. The Darvon may well be the cause of your nausea – I know it had that same effect on me when I tried to take it for post-op pain. If you haven’t already, perhaps you should just try taking Ibruprofen. (As long as your Dr is okay with it, of course!) It’s really good at reducing inflammation & the pain associated with it. Also, once the gas (that was pumped into you for the procedure) dissipates, you will be feeling much better & very soon – promise!
I will keep you in my prayers. Hugs – Laurel
So sorry to hear about your surgery, Lauren. Sending up prayers for a speedy recovery. Hope that you feel better soon. Beautiful card….love your work!!
Hugs & Blessings…
Youv’e already been through so much! GEEZ!! I was allergic to Vicodin as well…made me all pukey and really felt horrible. 🙁 I know what you must be feeling like, and don’t know how you can’t blog unless you’ve got a very good tolerance for dizziness and off balance feelings… I hope you get some rest, girlfriend! Wishing you well!! hugs,
Elaine
My dear Lauren,
I am so sorry you are not feeling well and having medication issues. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
