In honor of their bash YOU get a chance to enter to win a SURPRISE set!! Just leave me a comment here, telling me your favorite thing about birthdays! Tricia will surprise “you” (aka random drawn winner-but you can’t win if you don’t enter and you have NOTHING to lose by doing so) with a set in your mailbox!!
SO leave a comment about birthdays and what you love:
Is it a certain cake, what kind of traditions or things do you look forward to? A favorite b-day memory or gift……………whatever you want! I will randomly pick a winner and announce them here tomorrow at noon EST!
Also Tricia has a giveaway today too!
(I have been BUSY BUSY!! You have NO idea! LOL! More to come.)
Now for some eye candy 😀
I just LOVE these colors together! I had so much fun making this card. Sometimes you need to know WHEN to stop. I wanted to add MORE but think that would have been overboard.
Le Jardin is another one of my favorite flower sets. You cannot see by the photo, but I used a glitter pen along all the blue areas of the flowers. SO PRETTY and shimmery in person. LOVE IT!
I know I have said this before, but sometimes you NEED a layer. You don’t want it to be to heavy or overbearing, so that is when vellum cardstock comes in handy!!
See my pumpkin layer? It needed another layer, but nothing over the top, or too contrasting in color that it would draw your eye away from the focus of the card, so I used vellum cardstock. I get mine from Stampin Up, and and HAPPY to say that Papertrey Ink is going to be carrying it as well.
I hope you like my card as much as I do! LOL! I just can’t get over this color combo-sky, olive, pumpkin-just YUM!
LAD is one of the only companies who releases every quarter, rather than monthly. I do post samples monthly, so just keep your eyes open if you want to see more of LAD, and check my sidebar for the other design team member’s blogs, who also feature samples through the month as well.
There is of course a gallery (aka Sketchbook) of inspiration-don’t miss that too.
Well that is all for today. Thanks for reading.
Lauren

Love your card. For birthdays we get to pick the place to eat or the what you what for dinner. Thanks for a chance.
Wow, I think I’m first. I was born on my mom’s birthday so my favorite thing about my birthday is celebrating with my mom. We have only been apart for 2 out of my 31 years. Thanks for the chance to win. I love your card!
Emily A, UT
I love watching people open the presents I buy/make for them.
My favorite thing about birthdays is just spending some good, quality time celebrating that person’s life and honoring the fact that they were born! Sounds cheesy, I know, but it’s a really good feeling 🙂
The best thing about birthdays are the friends that come to celebrate and the birhtday cake with lots of frosting!!!
My favorite thing about birthdays is getting to pick the restaurant we eat out at. Gorgeous card, Lauren.
My favorite birthday memory is the one from 1991 when my husband was transferred to Austin & I was a trailing spouse still working in Little Rock. I would fly there every week on my weekend. We were living in a hotel because the house we were building wasn’t finished yet. One night my DH picked me up at the airport with our 2 dogs and took us back to the hotel. We were catching up on things when he told me that the mail was in the 2nd drawer. Well, usually, I’m all about looking at mail, but that evening, I just kept talking and didn’t look in the drawer. He mantioned it again, and I still didn’t open the drawer. Finally he asked me why I didn’t want to look at the mail. So I said fine, I’ll look at the mail. When I opened the drawer, there was a beautiful bakery-made birthday cake, personalized just for me. Of course, I started crying. How sweet for him to manage to do that while learning the ropes at a new job site and caring for 2 schnauzers, all the while living in a LaQuinta in the outskirts of Austin, next to a pasture with a herd of cows (who, by the way, were quite interested in our funny little schnauzers). Nothing elaborate, just a very thoughtful gesture that remains very special to me.
i just found your blog through nichole’s and I LOVE your work!! you do awesome stuff with stamps and tricks and what have you!
Fave thing about bdays is first bdays when you give a kid a cake and they totally dive into it and are covered and you just have to put them in the bath! I love their excitement!!
Great card! 🙂
What I love about birthdays are surprises, good food and fab presents!! 🙂
I love that my dad hates cake. I think it’s hilarious. He’d rather have a strawberry pie. As far back as I can remember, my mom made this special strawberry pie for my dad for his birthday. Since mom’s been gone, I’ve made this pie for my dad. His birthday was just 2 weeks ago, but my husband had surgery that day so I made him an early birthday pie. He was happy as a clam. (And lucky for dad, I make his special pie several times during the year!)
I love birthdays! I love to give and wrap gifts, I love to make cakes. For my own birthday I love presents (Who doesn’t?) I live overseas, so the past couple of birthdays have been a little sad because I’m not surrounded by my family but my folks make up for it by sending me a care package loaded with everything I love, it makes me feel so special to receive a box full of goodies and to know that I’m being thought of and celebrated thousands of miles away. Hooray for birthdays!
by the way lovely card!
I love spending time with my family on birthdays. On our kiddos’ birthdays, we always get everyone together for a group shot. It’s the rare occasion that no one complains having having their picture taken.:)
i love the anticipation of my birthday and wondering what my husband does for me! i also love to go out to celebrate w/ family & friends.
My favorite thing about birthdays is hearing from all my friends far and wide. It is usually a time when we either make plans to have dinner to celebrate, or just chat on the phone long distance. I always have the friends to look forward to!
My favourite birthday gift is going our for dinner with my husband.
My Favorite thing about birthdays: giving and recieving handmade card of course!
My favorite thing about birthdays is that everybody makes you feel so special!! Thanks for the chance to win!
Birthday cake and ice-cream are my FAVORITE!!! I also love to pick out or create what I consider to be the perfect gift………. O yea and to actually have a reason to create a special card ;o)
It’s so great to acknowledge the joy and love a person brings to your life and a birthday is the perfect day to do that. It’s a great time to let a person know what they mean to you. That is what I love about birthdays.
Well, for me….not much really anymore but seeing I have 3 kids b-days coming up in the next 3 weeks. Yep that is right, starting on the 19th, I have 3 sons with 3 birthdays in 13 days, I would have say it will be making their DAY!! The cake, the prezzies, & most important their lil faces!!
I enjoy creating special birthday cards to send/give. I also love picking out just the right gift to give. For my own birthday it’s a time to reflect on the past, and look forward to another year.
Hello! My favorite thing about birthdays is watching everyone open their presents. For little kids especially, the excitement in their eyes is priceless!
I just like the excuse to party with friends and family that I don’t get to see everyday.
Another beautiful card you have for us, tfs!
I love seeing the look on my kids faces when they get their presents!
Also I love making cards and seeing that people enjoy the effort I have put in to making them.
I love having Carvel ice cream cake!
Thanks for the chance to win some LAD.
Great card. On my birthday I always have had cherry cheesecake. I just love it…it is the real thing made from scratch. I also get to choose the entire menue. We always have fun on birthdays. Also, my children are adopted and we celebrate both days birthdate and adoption date. We go to a resturant of their choice on their anniversary. Thanks for the chance.
I love spending time with my family for my birthday. I love that my mom calls and sings me “Happy Birthday” and my sister calls and sings me “Hippo Birdie Two Ewes”. Silly, but I love it and would miss it if they didn’t.
My favorite part of birthdays is eating the cake! Also, celebrating 1/2 birthdays (my kids’ bdays fall near Christmas so I make it a point to always celebrate their half birthdays in June and even make them a small cake and of course, a small present!). – Gigi
I like going out to a quiet dinner for my birthday. Not having to worry about cooking for a night!! My mom use to make this banana cake that was the best too. I haven’t figured out her secret though.
Well, I prefer to ignore mine, LOL.
Love the card Lauren, it’s so vibrant! I have a birthday in just a couple of weeks! When I was a kid the best thing was the presents, then the cake, then the games we played at parties! Now, my favorite thing is looking at all the beautiful hand made cards I get from my rubber stamping friends! I still like presents and cake though!
Nice card, Lauren! For birhdays, we always gather the family together in celebration. I love having everyone around the table talking and laughing – just being there with them all is wonderful!
Beautiful card! (as always!) At our place we let the birthday person pick what they would like to eat or do for the day and I think we all benefit from it. (yum) It’s just good to spend time together as a family. I have a soft spot for cake.
My favourite part about family birthdays is watching the excitement on my 3 yr. old granddaughter’s face when the gifts are being opened even if they are not for her.
Your card is beautiful, I love the colours you have used! My favorite thing about my birthday is getting phone calls from my sons and all my family! I live on the East coast of Canada, and ALL my family lives on the WEST coast of Canada. I don’t get to see them as often as I would like, but I know on my birthday I will hear from ALL my family! That makes it a very special day for me!!
Thank you for the chance to win Lauren! Have a wonderful day!
🙂
Kim
My favorite thing is being with family. I just love the time together.
It’s a good life!
Terri E.
Wonderful card, love the colors. Birthdays at my house meant that it was your day. We have a special plate that only came out on very special occasions. (Birthdays, graduations, being selected for a certain job.) You got to choose what dinner you wanted, and what to watch on TV. (this was before everyone had a TV in every room). Thanks for the chance to win a “Surprise”
Great card Lauren. Birthdays were made more special because my mom made “crazy cake” (which was my favorite). My mom was an awesome baker, and I still cannot find anyone who makes this cake or a decent red velvet cake like she could.
Thanks,
Deb
FROSTING!!! Just kidding (well, maybe not…) for my own birthday I just enjoy being spoiled, by being cooked for or taken out to eat. For others’ birthdays, I like finding “just the right gift” and seeing their reaction to it!
We have a tradition of making the birthday persons favorite cake homemade. No store bought cakes and everyone in my family loves it!
Beautiful card! I think my fave thing about birthdays is getting to spend it with friends and family!
Love the card! My favorite thing about my birthday is all of the handmade gifts my kids make me.
Does anyone really like birthdays after they pass the 50 milemark? Well, I do – especially other people’s birthdays because I get to make them cards, especially my grandchildren the little princesses and dragon slayers!
My favorite thing about birthdays is the package – the colors, sizes, ribbons . . . the surprise of what’s inside.
Beautiful card – love the colors!
My fave part about birthdays is planning the party. I love picking out a theme, the decorations and the cake. So fun!
OMG…your card is incredible!!! I’m with you on that color combo…and that stamp set is quickly becoming my new fav 🙂
My favorite thing about birthdays is FRIENDS!
We have a tradition that the birthday person gets to pick their dinner and kind of cake – it is always fun to see what they choose!
best regards,
Sandra

I was born on my dad’s birthday so we always have a big celebration every year. I always spend the day cooking his favorite foods and all the children, grandchildren come over.
Love to have some chocolate mousse cake… wow what a pleasure but over everything else.. love to have all the family around!!
thanks for a chance
Growing up I always had what I call a chocolate, chocolate, and blue birthday. The cake was always chocolate with chocolate frosting and blue roses for the decorations. We also got to pick what we wanted for dinner, it was our special night, and I always picked pork chops and fresh peas.
My favorite thing about having a birthday is that all day it’s just your special day!
Lauren, your creations are always so pretty! My favorite thing about birthdays is baking/decorating the cake – I’m hoping my kids will always remember that there is a whole lot of love in there with the flour and sugar. Thanks for the chance to win!
My favorite thing about bday’s is going out for dinner…no dishes to clean up!!!
Since my birthday is twelve days after Christmas, it is not a big deal. I usually receive my birthday gifts after opening Christmas presents! Family birthdays are the best – food, fellowship, and fun! AND, of course, the making of birthday cards! Thanks for the chance to win!
My most memorable birthday is the year I turned 6 (which is well over 30 years ago). My parents had just divorced and it was, at best, a confusing time for me. During this time rabbit fur coats were the “in” thing for children…In EVERY store they were displayed prominently, I loved to stand there and just “pet” them, rub my face on them, they were soooo soft! My mother would have to drag me away from the racks telling me, sorry Paula, we just can’t afford it.
One day, my father came and got me for his “visitation” and we went to the mall. Which when you’re 6, really wasn’t anything to get too excited about. He took me to a specialty store where they had racks and racks of rabbit fur coats…imagine my surprise when he told me to try some on…and then my surprise when he purchased a beautiful red rabbit fur coat. They wrapped it in a beautiful bag and I carried it proudly and cried all the way back to the car. My father kept asking me, don’t you want to WEAR it, I was just speechless, amazed and dumbfounded. It was the first time it hit home that even though my parents weren’t together, I was still loved.
Of all the things from my childhood, it is still my favorite item. I still have that rabbit fur coat, it hangs in my closet, albeit a little tattered from being well loved.
Coincidentally today is my daughter’s third birthday. I can’t believe she is three!!! Time flies when you’re having so much fun. My favorite part of birthdays is watching little kids opening their presents. The happiness emitted by their smiles is just too precious. And it’s as an extra special bonus for me because it’s like a present itself.
I love the chance to make a really special dessert…..carrot cake being my favorite. Lauren your work is wonderful, a usual. Thanks for the chance to win more rubber!
Mary

hey Lauren~ Great card! Love those colors together. Without a doubt, the best part of birthdays is the cake. Love the smell of it cooking in the oven, decorating it, and mostly eating it!
I love a good chocolate cake with LOTS of yummy buttercream frosting and of course the presents! Oh, and I guess I love getting together with family and friends (I should have said that before the cake and presents, right? LOL).
I love cake- german chocolate cake to be exact. My mom always made me one for my birthday- from SCRATCH!!! My kids are doing good to get a cake, no not really but I don’t think I have made them one from scratch. Thanks for the chance for some candy.
My favorite thing about Birthdays has to be the GIFTS! I am just like a little kid about that!!! THanks for the chance to win!

I love planning birthday parties fro my daughter.I also love the cake
Growing up, our birthdays were always celebrated with your favorite cake. Mine was a chocolate cake with pink frosting and coconut. I loved having a special cake and mom always made it from scratch. I’ve continued the tradition with my own kids – they always get a cake on their birthday even if there is a party planned for another day. I don’t want their special day to go by without it being celebrated.
I love birthdays because it’s the one time of year you can pig out on your all time favourite foods … especially dessert!!! LOL! Love the card Lauren!
Birthdays in our family include a cake from Apple Annie’s from Wilmington. They’re gorgeous, but more importantly delicious! The fudge layer cake is my favorite. Of course what makes it even more special is eating it with my family.
Thanks for the chance to win.
Oh…and I love the card. That’s a great tip on layering.
Doris
Birthdays, for me, are a time to celebrate with family and friends and to think back on all the special blessings and memories of the year.
What do I like about birthdays? Well, the best thing about them is in a quote that I use all the time in birthday cards. “The more you have the longer you live.” LOL I don’t worry too much about age anymore because I am still alive and feeling great. I love parties, presents, and all the hoopla that goes with it. I love making special cards for people and helping to brighten their special day. Let’s face it – it’s all good! Thanks for the chance to win some special blog candy, too! It would feel just like a birthday if I won!!!
my favorite thing about birthdays is the ‘surprise’ element, and receiving lots of presents and hand made cards to open!
my favorite thing about Birthdays is making someone feel special. Wether it is just hand delivering a card (handmade, of course), signing happy birthday, or simply ackknowledging their day. It just feels good to put a smile on someones face. Of course my four favorite people to do this for are my three boys and my DH.
My favorite birthday tradition for myself is no cake! I have never really liked cake, even as a child. My mom always made me strawberry pie for my birthday. We live near my inlaws but not my parents. The first year we were married we celebrated in a resturaunt but this year my MIL cooked dinner complete with two types of strawberry pie!
Gina
My favorite thing about birthdays is trying to find the perfect gift for the birthday person:)
I love birthdays. Making cards and goodies for people is so much fun. for myself, just that I have one is a good thing. We alway had home made cakes and then once my mother bought a cake from the BAKERY. Oh, wow. That became the “special’ part of a birthday. After my mother passed away, I kept that tradition up. Every year I buy ME a cake from the bakery! It’s all about me. Hope I win the surprise, too!
My favorite thing about birthdays is sharing it with my BIL, and it’s this week, so I’m in for a little cake and stamping presents, yum!
The best thing about birthdays is being a princess and telling everyone it is your birthMONTH! Thankfully, my DH goes along with it and I get spoiled all month long! :o) Thanks for the chance!
Let’s see there is cake, whatever cake I would like. Then there is the present, who doesn’t love a surprise. Sharing it with my hubby who always makes my birthday special. And I can’t forget my handmade cards from my hubby. He uses my supplies and comes up with something different every year. Oh and a great dinner is enjoyed on my birthday also. Birthdays are special and being that mine is December is even more special being around my favorite holiday of the year. Thanks for a chance to win. 🙂
My favorite thing about birthdays is getting together to celebrate. Everyone gets their favorite cake. We eat, sing happy birthday, have cake and give presents. I am so blessed to have a wonderful family that enjoys time together.
I just love being with loved ones on their special day! Of course, cake and good food are never a bad thing either!!
Birthdays are sort of like Christmas morning for me. I always get to open my present first thing when I wake up and then get breakfast made for me 🙂 Thanks!
What a cute card! Love the color scheme. I also love CAKE when it comes to birthdays! My family has a tradition of getting ice cream cakes … yummo!
Lauren I love your blog and your work is just awesome. Such an inspiration. My favortie birthday memories are when my son turned 3 on his birthday we adopted his sister on his birthday and he felt so honored. MY son was adopted on my husband’s grandmother’s 100 birthday. So these particular birthday have very fond memories for me.
In our family, if its your birthday, you get to pick your favorite meal or place to eat and your favorite cake. my favorite is homemade carrot cake with homemade cream cheese frosting, cuz on your birthday diets don’t matter!
We have a tradition with the kids that they get to pick where to eat on their special day. Fun change from the normal schedule and I love that I get out of cooking for the night, lol!
This couldn’t have come at a better time because my birthday is Wednesday! 🙂 Since my birthday is in the middle of summer, I love celebrating with an ice cold ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. I also love going to the pool or a water park to celebrate. This year we’re going to local water park and I can’t wait! I also love eating out for my birthday, so I’ll do a lot of that this week.
My favorite thing about birthdays is all the family getting together.
Gorgeous card Lauren. The touch of the vellum worked out just right. My favorite birthday memories are of my boys when they saw their themed cake each year. This was nothing like the elaborate themed birthday parties for kids today but they had fun trying to figure out what their cake would be.
Birthdays are like Christmas for me! I always get a present first thing when I wake up and then hubby makes breakfast for me!
I love birthdays because its a great time for everyone to get together and have FUN!!
My favorite thing about birthdays is spending time with family…and cake.
I love your work, Lauren. You so inspire me.
I love that card! I want that set, it’s on my wish list. The best thing about birthdays – presents!! And the second best thing is cake, or cupcakes 🙂 ty
The best thing about birthdays…surprises!!!
Happy Anniversary LAD!
Betty-Ann
Thanks so much for the chance! My favorite thing about birthdays is the cake! I love to make or eat (or both) birthday cake!
Beutiful card Lauren!!!
Let’s see…my favorite thing about birthdays…I know, that mine is tomorrow 🙂 But seriously, every year, Nick gets me an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins, it’s become our little tradition, and I love it. He’s not a big deal birthday person, but I am, so that’s sometimes tough…but he knows and will make a fuss just for me.
as a kid, birthdays were always quiet being in the middle of the Summer, but I usually spent it at the beach, or playing with the neighborhood kids…
looking forward to the new release…like I need one more thing to love right now 😉
Chat soon 🙂
WE moved away from my family three years ago, so my favouirte part of birthdays is getting together with them. We only live an hour and a half away, but b-days are a perfect excuse to hang out!!
LOVE your card!!!
Birthdays….actually, good ‘ol birthday cake is one of my favorite things!!! I L O V E icing!
I especially like that the birthday person (I’m thinking kids especially) get to have all the attention that day. Kids are so excited to get up and know it is their day. From choosing the meal they will have, to the attention they get, the cake, the presents, etc. I get a lot of joy watching the celebration.
Funny you should mention Bday especially today because today is 4 mths exactly until my 3rd Anniversary of being 29!! LOL .. My fav. things about bday is that we can get to spoil the Bday Person, and they can’t say no cause its time to celebrate! 🙂
I love everything about birthdays! I’m not one of those people who don’t like to acknowledge that they’re getting older – I figure, I’m gonna get older regardless, so why not have a party and cake and presents?! I just love having a day for “me” where I do whatever I want. I always take the week of my birthday off so I don’t have to work or do anything I don’t want to do!
I LOVE birthday cake! Getting to pick what kind to have for my birthday was always so much fun when I was young. Iremember the confetti angel food, the Swiss chocolate, and one year a peanut butter one. My mother even made the cooked 7 minute frosting many times. She always made birthdays so special! Thanks for reminding me of those special times!
My favorite thing about my birthday is I share it with my daughter. She was born on my birthday last year. Thanks for the chance to win.
My kids’ birthdays are my favorite – making the cake and watching them open presents.
My favorite thing about birthdays is getting together with my family. I have a brother and two sisters, so it is hard to get everyone in one place at one time, but we all get together for birthdays!
I love birthday cake, white with buttercream frosting from Rogers Bakery, it is to die for!
My favorite thing about birthdays is the birthday dinner. We usually get together with my whole family – mom, dad, sisters, and brothers and have a big dinner.
I love watching people open their gifts, love to see the surprise on their face..
My favorite thing about birthdays is the cherry chip birthday cake my mom made me as a kid-no my own kids want me to make it for them!
It’s too hard to pick one favorite thing about Birthdays — what’s not to love about a day that celebrates who you are and who you can become?!?
My favorite thing about birthdays is making the cake I think. I took the Wiltons decorating classes at Michaels and ever since have made all but 1 of my kid’s birthday cakes. They challenge my creativity every year and I love it!!
Hope I win!
My favorite thing about birthdays is watching people opening their gifts. There is sometimes such a look of hope and surprise – I love it!
My favorite part of birthdays??? Knowing how much thought and love that goes into the gifts my family gives me. I’m a huge ‘sap’, so it doesn’t matter if it’s a ten-cent plastic toy or an expensive piece of jewelry…..what matters to me is knowing how much thought is put into something just for me.
Boy, would I LOVE to have some new stamps to play with!!! All of my ‘hobby’ budget is going toward the kid’s activities this summer….so I’d love to have something just for me!!
Thanks for all of the gorgeous creations and inspiration you share with us, Lauren. You rock, girlie?!?!
My favorite thing about birthdays, whether it’s my own birthday or someone elses, is that family and friends take the time to show you they care about you that day and make you feel special… it’s a great feeling : )
Wow, believe it or not, my birthday is tomorrow July 15th – the day of the drawing – don’t you think I should automatically be the winner “wink-wink”! I love just being with family and always like to have a cake with that thick whipped icing and go to a restaurant of my choice to eat dinner – yum! I won’t be doing that tomorrow tho, I am leaving in less than 1/2 hour to go have hernia repair surgery – ugh! I think I will be sitting around most of tomorrow!
Sandy Kay
My favorite part of my own birthday would be going out for a quiet dinner with my husband. That being said, I get more joy out of giving the perfect gift to someone that I truly adore.
Great card – love the color scheme!
My favorite thing about birthdays, is it is my special day. I know that seems silly, but my Mom always made sure that it was all about me that day, I got to pick the dinner, wear my favorite outfit, go somewhere special, and of course the presents. I continued this tradition with my son who is almost eighteen, yet I know he still looks forward to his special day. And what about my special day now? I still celebrate it anyway I want, because a birthday only comes around once a year!
Once you hit your 30’s do you really enjoy your birthdays 🙂 ? My birthday is in the spring, which I love. But the thing I’ve enjoyed most the past few years my sister, mom & I take a saturday to have a “girls” day shopping little shops. My sister’s birthday is a week after mine so it’s just a nice time getting together for our birthdays.
My favorite thing about birthdays is spending time with my family. The birthday person gets to choose where or what we eat for dinner. We get together around the dinner table and talk and laugh. It’s always a good time. I love being surrounded by the people I love!
What’s the best thing about birthdays? Watching my kids enjoy theirs.
My favorite thing about birthdays would have to be all the pictures we take. We have a birthday dinner (for the b’day person) and then presents and then my homemade cake. I make the cakes for all the birthdays(except mine). My mom had 71 candles on her cake last november and we laughed so hard at her trying to blow those candles out! :0
I actually love other peoples birthdays. I love making that perfect card and finding that perfect gift. Especially watching my kids faces on thier special day! Thanks for a chance to win! I love the card, those flowers are so cool!
Well I am not big on b-days for myself, it would be nice if one day I had a nice bash with friends and family, like maybe the big 4-0 but since everyone is pretty much a continent away… 🙁
I like celebrating my kids b-days and see the excitement build up in my daughter as she awaits her party! 🙂
The best part of birthdays? Becoming another year older and wiser! Birthdays are the best!
Thank you for the chance to win! Hope all is great with you! Need to catch up with you. Soon!
Hugs,
Renee
I loved my mom’s German chocolate cake and frosting (all made from scratch). It was a lot of time and work so she made them for birthdays only. Everyone wanted one so we got it several times a year. She still makes it for me! Thanks…
Last month, my son (my first and only right now) had his first birthday. I will never forget it. He was thrilled to be surrounded in balloons, played with all his little friends, and was just an angel even among the 35 guests. My favorite part (as with any one year old’s birthday) was when he had the cake. He took his WHOLE plate and shoved it in his face, I could not have asked for a better experience.
Its a day to spoil myself. I don’t expect much in the way of gifts or celebrations, I know everyone is busy so on my birthday I pamper myself. I indulge myself with something I wanted to buy (usually stamps, DT, etc) and I may buy the meal at Subway instead of just the 6 inch sandwich. 😉 Its my day.
Very cute card! My favourite thing about birthdays is having one day a year where I am “off the hook” for almost everything. I am not responsible for dishes, or cooking, or even cleaning. My dh takes me out for supper, and takes care of all of the other chores that need doing.
Your card is very pretty. My favorite thing about birthdays is that you spend it with family and friends. Thank you for the chance to win.
Beautiful card, Lauren. I really like your color combo. My favorite thing about my birthday is the ceremony of sitting down and opening all the creative, pretty handmade cards that are sent by members of a birthday club I belong to. They come from all over the country, and each one is so unique and special. Thanks for the chance to win.
Birthdays- I just love the whole thing- the celebrations, the photos, the presents, and the food!! always a reason to have a party!
I love that I take the day off every year and refuse to work that day.
My favorite thing about birthdays is that it is the one time of the year that I feel like I can splurge a little and get something that I have been eyeing for quite some time. This last birthday I finally got my Cuttlebug!
My favorite thing on my birthday is all the papmered treatment I get from Family that day. No chores, no “have-to-dos”, it’s all about me! Thanks for the chance to win some stamps!
I love the fact that it’s your “special day”. It’s dinner out…spending time with friends and family…and best of all…cake time!!
My favorite part of birthday’s is seeing the birthday girl or boy all excited and over joyed with the presents, decorations, family and friends there. that is just priceless to me. Wonderful card Lauren, very pretty flowers.
Most favorite is definetly the CAKE!!!! Love the card.
My birthday is also my wedding anniversary, so it is an extra special day….I just love having an extra special day that I can call my own.
My favorite thing about birthdays (my kids) is the excitement for the “party”.
My favorite thing about birthdays is definitely an excuse to have great food. My friends are very talented and very creative in terms of cooking. So, that’s when we get yummy food and of course great friends to go with that.
Not to mention cake!
My favorite thing is my daughter’s anticipation of her birthday. Choosing a party place/theme, inviting guests, dreaming about what her presents will be, then the actual day itself – with the party and presents and friends. Doesn’t get much better than that!
While I don’t love the rising numbers (45, 46, 47….) I love that birthdays are MY day, to do whatever I want!
My favorite birthday tradition is our “birthday scavenger hunts” for our kids. We tie balloons on their bedroom door while they’re sleeping with the first clue attached to it. There’s always 5 clues (each clue has a tiny gift attached) and the final clue leads them to their bday loot! We’ve been doing it with them since they were 4 and they still love it. In fact my son asked if we would still do it for them when they were married–lol!!
Love the color combo on your card too!
Suzanne Dean
Ever since I was little, my favorite birthday cake is angel food with real whipped cream on top. Making my mouth water thinking about it! I shouldn’t do this at lunch time!! LOL
Favorite birthday memory: Mom always made my brothers and I our favorite things for dinner on our birthday, followed by yummy cake and ice cream. Thanks for sharing.
What I love about birthdays is giving gifts. I love giving gifts to people. I am SO not good at keeping secrets either.. If I get someone a present, I want them to open it right away!!! I love to make people smile!!
I love having a good excuse to get all my peeps together in one place for a whole entire evening – a luxury for all of us at this point.
your card is beautiful! my favorite part of birthdays is that I’ve lived another year!! and that’s a good thing LOL Thanks for the chance to win.
My favorite thing is being with family until the teasing comes along. And seeing my niece and nephew. Other than that getting and receiving gifts.
I love making people just feel a little more special on their birthday. For kids this is really fun…and for adults…I think they enjoy it more then they will admit most of the time.
My birthday is in December exactly 1 week before Christmas so often it is the last day to work until the new year begins. I work for the schools. And often we will have our Winter program at school on that day so the kids are all dressed up. It is often a very special day for me.
My favorite thing about birthdays is that we usually go out to eat…also I love birthday cake!
My favorite thing about birthdays is getting together with family.
My mom always made me cheesecake for my birthdays. It’s my favorite. Although now the best thiong is planning my kids parties. I love picking themes and making their parties a day they look forward to eah & every year.
My favorite thing about my birthday is being treated so special on that day!
My favorite thing about other’s birthdays is trying to make them feel special!
Thanks for the chance to win!
Dorothy
My favourite thing about birthdays? Well duh! It’s the chocolate cake and ice cream!!!
My favorite thing about my birthday is that we all go out to dinner together. The kids are grown and have their own lives but when we all get together is it so much fun catching up, laughing and sharing our lives.
Great colors in your card Lauren! My favorite thing about birthdays is making the birthday person feel extra special! My parents always celebrated our birthdays the entire week with little gifts and treats. I love doing that for other people too.
My birthday is special, it’s the 4th of July, easy to remember.
I love the feeling when I wake up on a birthday morning and know what a wonderful day is ahead of me! 🙂
Love your sweet card!
What do I like about birthdays??? Well what do I not like is the question. I am 51 years old and still love to have birthdays. I love the cake and the presents of course. But most of all I love the friends and family that get together to help me enjoy it. I also love it that my girls are all crafters so I ususally get cards, quilts, and other really cool had made stuff!!! I just love everything about birthday. And when people tell me they don’t like to get older I just tell them back why not…it’s just one step closer to Jesus!!!
Your card is outstanding, the colors are so bright and perfect!!!!
My favorite thing about my birthday is the Birthday cake, LOL, I love cakes and I also love DH and DD surprises, they always get so misterious, DD is only 4 ands she loves mistery, hahaha. I love them so much that they make my birthday especial too!!!
God bless
Giovana
What I love about birthdays is giving presents!! So much more fun than getting them….on my own birthday, I love family around and lots of cakes and balloons.
Lovely creations as usual!
i LOVE German Chocolate Cake! Especially homemade by a wonderful friend of mine! YUMMO~!
My favorite part about birthdays is watching people open the gift that they really wanted most but didn’t think anyone else even knew they wanted it or would remember that they wanted it.
Well, the presents, duh! LOLOL, I kid!!
I’m not lovin’ the b-day’s too much anymore … that stopped when I hit 30 … but it IS nice to go out to my fav restaurant for some lobster or a slab or prime rib!
Thanks, Lauren; YKYR!!

My favorite thing about birthdays is the phone calls and visits from people! It usually gives people an excuse to call you! 😀 I am so excited for these new releases! I think I could just scream! 😀
I love birthday’s! We celebrate with family. Who ever has the birthday gets to pick the place they would like to go for dinner. I share my birthday with my daughter in law so we pick together. My favorite is to get cards from my family and friends. I love when my children make me a card. I also get joy from seeing the birthday person excited over the card I made them. I have MS so birthday’s are extra special to me, it reminds me that I am blessed another year!
Love your cards!
One of my favorite birthday memories is when I was in my 20’s and still living at home. My parents took me out to dinner and I got to invite one of my friends along and I chose my friend, Carolyn. When my younger brother found out who I was taking he asked, “Do we have to take her along?” The funny thing is that 6 months later he married her!
Very pretty card, Love the vibrant colors.
Birthdays! Our family eats out, maybe not on the actual birthday itself, because we all have busy schedules — but when we do, it is a great opportunity for us all to get together.
Cake is yummy — not necessarily at our family dinners out, but whenever I get a slice of someone’s b’day cake — mmmmm.
Cards too, of course!
Resolution: make and send more cards.
My favorite thing about birthdays is that it gets everyone together. It’s so hard to coordinate schedules with family and friends but I love how everyone really makes an effort for birthdays. And I love birthday cake!
I love making the day very special for family and/or friends and it’s so rewarding to in turn see my boys wanting to make the day special for me when it’s my birthday.
The favorite part of birthday’s is making that person feel special, making their favorite meal and cake plus all the cards and presents! Thanks for the chance to win some LAD stamps.
I loved reading about everyone’s favorite thing about birthdays. I think my favorite thing about birthdays, now that I am older, is getting together with friends. When I was younger it was getting presents and feeling special for the day. Now I enjoy seeing my kids excitement and making others happy. We just celebrated my husbands 39th and in a couple weeks will be my son’s 6th. They both look so forward to their birthday and I look forward to the smiles on their precious faces.
Lauren, thanks for all the wonderful cards, stories and goodies! Your blog is fabulous!
Hello! Birthdays for us as children were my parents would take us to our favorite toy store and pick out 3 things we wanted and then we got to eat at the restaraunt of our choice! Now, Mom and I pick a concert every summer for my birthday! Birthdays are always a family day for us…and that is what makes the days special!
I love getting together with family. My family and extended family has always celebrated birthdays together no matter how old you are. I love being with my family and always try to make sure that I am back in my home state around my birthday so I can celebrate.
I love how happy people are on birthdays. You tell someone it’s your birthday and they treat you extra special. My sister is a nurse and said that one day she had a rather difficult patient. She asked him why he was being so difficult on her birthday. He apologized and acted nicely the rest of the day. Funny thing, it wasn’t her birthday!
My FAVORITE thing about birthdays is that I don’t have to celebrate them anymore!!! 10 years ago, on my 33rd birthday, I had my one & only son. So now on my birthday we celebrate HIS birthday instead and it’s great! No one asks me how old I am, haha, and I don’t have time to contemplate the lines on my face as the passage of time. However, I do have to acknowledge the fast-pace of time just by realizing how quickly my son is growing. 10 now, 25 in the blink of an eye… aw, shucks, now I’m getting all sentimental! FYI, I still get presents. I make sure of that!
My favorite part of birthday’s is seeing my kids eyes when they get up on their birthday morning and see the streamers and balloons in the dining area. I do it every year and, although they know it will be there, you can see the happiness in their eyes. They know it’s special just for them. I think they especially like it if they’ve had a party on a day other than their actual birthday.
Love the card and the new stamps…thanks for the chance to win some blog candy!
My favourite thing is that my family still tries to find ways to get together for birthday dinner, even though I don’t live in the same city anymore. My parents, sister and her boyfriend drove the couple hours so we could still do dinner this year!
Birthdays are special. I think long and hard about making a card that is just right for that person.
In our family the birthday person gets to pick their menu and we end with an ice cream cake.
I love giving the perfect birthday gift. I listen all year to what people say and then I commit to memory something they’ve mentioned that they like and then get it (within reason of course ;-). It makes me so happy when their face lights up!
Whenever anyone in my family has a birthday, we all sing “Happy Birthday” in loud, obnoxious, mis-timed voices (even the dogs and birds usually chime in)! It’s a great family tradition (although the neighbors might disagree!). Even now that we live in different states, the birthday boy/girl comes home to an answering machine FULL of loud, obnoxious, bad renditions of happy birthday!!
I love your cards!
jodie
My favorite thing about birthdays is making someone feel special. A birthday is the day we say, “I’m so glad you were born and that you are you!”
I just love making cards for my grandchildren for their birthdays! I spend hours searching the net (for inspiration), trying to find just the right one for that special child. Some times I think the card is more fun than picking out a present!
The best thing about birthdays is the presents of course!! Mine is the day after xmas so it really is always just a bummer!!
The thing I love about birthdays is being able to get together with my family and have a wonderful dinner. Birthday person gets to pick the menu and the cake – my mom is a fabulous cook and we always enjoy a wonderful meal and great time with family.
Going out to my favorite rest to eat with Hubby….
My favorite things for birthdays is to get cards and well wishes from friends and family. My husband usually takes me out to dinner at the place of my choice and that’s good enough for me.
Yeah, free stamps!!! What is better than that? I have given up on birthdays and although I did enjoy birthdays the first thing that came to mind when the question was asked was my boys.
I love to watch them get all excited and happy. They are just so happy with whatever they get. It is the most precious thing to me.
my favorite thing about birthdays is to give my friends and family homemade cards and gifts from my heart. i try to personalize the card and gifts to the colors they like or something that is special to them, it just makes it that much more special!!!
lauren,
I love being able to get something special for the birthday person. I put a lot of thought into a meaningful gift and the look on their faces is what I enjoy the most. However, I remember this one birthday as a child, my Mom had made me one of those Barbie Doll cakes. You know the ones with the dome shaped cake and the barbie stuck down in the middle of it. The it looked like the dome part was her dress. That was my favorite birthday. Thanks for asking! Cheryl
I love being together with family and friends….of course presents and icecream cake…em
My favorite birthday memory is my DH’s birthday 30 years ago. We were expecting our first child, I had a Doctor appt. that day. I came home to tell him we were having twins!
My favorite thing about birthdays, is that it’s your special day, and a corner piece of cake with lots of frosting can’t be beat!
My favorite thing about birthday’s is being with family and I come from a big family……also I love ice cream cake……….yummmmmmmmy!!!
Cindy C.

I love getting together with family and friends. Birthdays don’t scare me, so I enjoy celebrating each one!
You gotta love being able to get away with almost anything – like stamping all day and neglecting the laundry/dishes etc. – Mandy
My favorite thing about birthdays is the birthday cake…they call me the birthday cake chic. If I know it’s someones birthday, it’s straight t the kitchen t bake their favorite kind of cake, then to the craft room to make a card. Seeing joy on somebody’s face is heartwarming.
Birthdays are SO much fun and SO much work…ALL worth it!!! Since having 3 kids, I love to make it super fun for them and have a theme (they pick it) and do all the decorations and games and cake in the theme…all handmade! My kids wake up knowing on their birthday the house is decorated…a banner…balloons…the works! They love it!!!! The best part is their smiles and the hugs I get!!!
My favorite thing about birthdays is the fact that my grandparents have given each of us $10 as far back as I can remember, I’m talking at least 35 years. When I got married, my dh even got the $10. While the $10 doesn’t go nearly as far as it used to ~ it’ll always be a fond memory of my grandparents!
My favorite thing about birthdays is the chance to celebrate the birthday person, to make them feel special. And I like feeling special on my birthday too–which is this Thurs.
My ALL time favorite birthday cake is Cherry chip cake with chocolate frosting. Yum-O! Even though no one else in the family liked it my Mom still made it for me ever year on my birthday!
This past year as a surprise my youngest DD (12) who LOVES to bake made me a cherry chip cake with chocolate frosting for my birthday. It was the BEST ever!
I love birthdays because it’s a great excuse to get together with friends and family….and eat ice cream!
What I love about birthdays? It’s the people…..I just celebrated my Godson turning one and even though it was a BLOWOUT, the people that showed were the ones that were truly meant to be there…..I remember when I turned the big 3-0!! I decided I was going to through myself a birthday party and invite the people that were special to me and my boyfriend. So I had about 55 people through my house that day (it was an open house) and my friends and family got to meet his friends and family and it was the best birthday ever!! People make birthdays memorable…..
Best thing about birthdays is YOU HAVE THEM! Considering the alternative i am glad they come every year. There are way too many “birthday stamps” out there that I haven’t even used yet!!!
What a beautiful card! I love it!
We have lots of birthday traditions in our family. The birthday person gets to pick out what we have for dinner, either what I cook or where we go out to eat, what kind of cake/dessert I make for them and I always decorate the dining area with a birthday banner and streamers. I try to make it a special day for them.
Thanks for the chance to win and for all of the inspiration you give me on this blog. It’s just wonderful!
Janet
My favorite part about birthdays is getting together with famiy and friends and eating tons of great food.
Hi Lauren, fantastic work as usual…your talents are endless!!! Mmm my favourite thing about birthdays, well it has to be the look on the person’s face whose birthday it is when they’re opening their presents and the excitement my kids have. I must admit, even though I’m an adult, there’s still a little bit of the child excitement in me when it’s my birthday, after all, it is the only day of the year that is special to the person whose birthday it is – that’s why I hate being late sending cards!
A birthday means to me that I have made it another year. 🙂 That makes me very happy.
Mary
My favorite thing about birthdays is the opportunity to see the family all in one place! Our family has grown so much, sometimes its difficult to get us together – but no one wants to miss a child’s birthday! Maybe they should have 2 a year – kids love to say “I’m 8 and one half”!
I love MY birthday becuase deep down I’m still 6 and its MY day and that’s that! But I love my kids’ birthdays, watching them get so excited for all the little things, gifts, parties, the cake, everything is so exciting.
Favorite thing about birthdays, being with family. My family always made sure to get together and have a dinner just for you and everybody is there. Don’t care about what you got me or where we go, just as long as we go together.
I love your card and Le Jardin set. My birthday is in the coming week, and I am not looking forward to it so much with all of my family living out of town.
Our favourite tradition is the baking a homemade cake, with the girls getting to decorate it. It’s always a work of art (and sweets!), and yummy!
thanks
Susan
HUMMMMM…let me see. Birthday’s are a magical time for a person. Normally it’s a day set aside just for you. My birthday however falls just 4 days before Christmas, as a kid my parents never ran the two things together…I ALWAYS had a kid party, I NEVER had a birthday present wrapped in Christmas wrap, and they ALWAYS let me know that “special” day was just for me. As I type this and look back all those years ago (I’m 48) I realize what an effort they put forth because now as adult, I know how busy and crazy things can get around the holidays. They made me feel special then and I am Blessed to have a husband now that still makes it just as special.
Pam
P.S. I have a granddaughter that was born in December….she’s not going to get Christmas wrap on her birthday presents either! :~)
Hi Lauren!!! The best thing about birthday – now having kids, 4 to be exact, is seeing the pure joy on there faces when it’s their big day. Every year, as each get older, you have a different reaction. I can’t wait for the next birthday to see their excitement. By the way, love your blog – I just started stamping – when 1st introduced, I was hooked. You have so many great ideas for new stamper like me – I can only hope, in the future, my work can look as good as yours.
I just don’t celebrate them…makes it so much easier, but very nice card.
I just want a chocolate cake for my birthday… well, i make sure that i have a chocolate cake every year =) Thanks for the chance!
I love to celebrate my birthday with everyone else. Since my mom passed away I feel it is more fun to celebrate her memory of bring me into this world. This year I am working on books for my staff and I will make a cake and bring lunch for my staff to celebrate my day with everyone. Love your stuff! Thanks for sharing! Jessie
Pretty card. Need to get a glitter pen. The best part about birthdays is being able to spend them with family. Any excuse to get together with loved ones is prized! Gail
Great Card Lauren!
I cant wait for the LAD celebration!
My Fav thing about birthdays is that I Get showered with the BEST B-Day gift Each Year! And that is Love from the most Special people in my life…MY FAMILY!
Of course I do enjoy the gifts as well but LOVE if teh best gift of all!
~Monica~
I love eating cake with birthday gal. and the i love the thrill of making my girls birthday memorable.
Love to celebrate birthdays, because I love thinking of, searching for, and buying the ‘perfect’ gift for that person. We always go out for dinner and the birthday person gets to choose where we will all go. We go home afterwards and have cake and open presents. It’s even more fun since I had kids; I love to watch my kids open their gifts. They get so excited!
My favorite thing about kids about birthdays is: seeing the expression on the face of the person as they read their card or open their present.
This is actually a post-birthday tradition, but I like making the thank you cards that my son sends out for the gifts that he received. I keep the cards more simple than I usually do, so I can crank them out quickly!
Thanks for the chance at the goodies!
I love giving the perfect handmade gift and the opportunity to celebrate LIFE with the birthday person.
My favorite bday tradition is simply taking time off from work. My bday is July 1st and I usually take the entire week off from work and plan activities to celebrate me. This year my neighbor and BFF and I went to a spa as a bday gift from her husband to both of us!!!
My favorite b-day tradition is on your birthday you get to choose your dinner 🙂 I always chose thanksgiving dinner and pudding pie for my cake 🙂
As a kid what I loved best about birthdays was picking out the meal to have… and I usually picked out pork roast cooked with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes on the side… my mom’s cooking was influenced by the Pennsylvania Dutch as she grew up in Lancaster. Now that i’m the mom what I love best is being taken out for dinner… to the restaurant of my choice!
I love my kids’ birthdays! I just love giving gifts to people, especially people that I know really well and know what they would love. I like to put a lot of thought into my gifts that I give so that they really mean something to the person. Birthdays are just so much fun!
Cute card! I can’t wait to see the new sets! My favorite thing about birthdays as a kid was getting to plan my birthday dinner with my Mom. As a Mom, my favorite thing is watching my son’s face as he opens his presents. Thank you for this opportunity.
I love birthday celebrations because our family is able to be together. We spent almost 21 years with the Air Force and were not always close to family. Now we are and it is nice to be able to celebrate together. We made many good friends durning those 21 years and are grateful that they were our “family” when ours were many miles away.
I also love birthdays for little kids. Their eyes are always fun to watch.
My favorite birthday memory is of my grandparents taking me to the Milwaukee Zoo every year on my birthday. Grandpa never did anything like that, so it was always a treat for him to come with us.
And I love me some lemon poppyseed birthday cake!
Great card Lauren! I cant say theres anything specific about my birthdays that I personally love, But I do love when I get my kids that must have they wanted for like 6 months. The joy on their faces is so worth it .
My favorite thing about birthdays is that the family takes me out to dinner – my choice! That means no cooking or cleaning up (yeah!). Thanks for the opportunity to win some blog candy!
My favorite part about my birthday is the homemade red velvet cake my mom makes!! Yummers!
When we were kids it was all about the presents and the birthday cake. Now it’s just about spending time with family, ususally a nice dinner (and maybe a little cake).
Honestly I don’t care much about my birthday, but I love that it’s an excuse for a special dinner with my husband on the big day and another special dinner with my family whenever we can all get together (sometimes a month late!). It seems like we’re all so busy that the only time we get together is for celebrations of some sort.
My favorite thing about birthdays is the chance to celebrate the specials persons birth! I love to give gifts. Cake………………just an added bonus!
My favorite thing about my birthday is I celebrate all month long 🙂 Having moved away from my family several years back it seemed that it took all month long for my presents to trickle in from out of town…so I started celebrating all month long…even now that I’m back in my home town…I still do it.
Charmaine
I just love birthdays…either my own or someone elses!! I also celebrate “Birthday Month”!! But since having 4 kids, it just doesn’t have the same fun it used too!
My favorite thing about my Birthday is that it is
December 24th. Most people say poor you, but
I never think that way. Actually, it is really a
special time of the year. My favorite cake is
Confetti angel food, and my mom always makes
this cake for me, even now and she is 82!!!
Fran
My favorite thing about birthdays is the CAKE! It has to be covered in buttercream frosting too.
I was born on December 31 and I just love my birthday. What a great note to end the year on and everyone is up for a party on my birthday. 🙂 Thanks for the chance to win.
I love being pampered on my birthday.
My birthday is 2 days after Halloween so it kinda gets lost in the shuffle but my mom always tried to make my birthday party special – we would do fun things like decorate your own cookie or scavenger hunts. My grandma always made me a PIE for my birthday cause she thought I needed pie – when I got older she would send her FAMOUS choc chip cookies to me wherever I was!
The latest thing I like about birthday’s is watching my daughter and her Aunt eating the frosting off the cake. They always want the corner piece because it has the most frosting.
Kate
OOOOOOO I love birthdays almost as much as i love winning stuff! haha. Seriously though, i love love love birthdays. There is something really cool about having a day to celebrate the birth/life of someone regardless of what age they are turning. I love throwing birthday parties or at least making sure that something cool and fun happens on people’s birthdays whether its my own, my child’s, my hubby’s or one of my best friend’s.
The thing I love most about birthdays is the gatherings! I am part of a group of friends and we have cookouts for everyone’s birthday! Of course, the CAKE doesn’t hurt!! Happy Birthday, Lizzie Anne and thanks for the chance to win !!
Wow – I love surprises! In our family, when my kids were young, we would hide clues to find birthday gifts in balloons. There was lots of running from clue to clue and lots of balloon popping.
Hi – on my birthday I love hearing from friends in different parts of the country – it makes me feel special right from the start, but the best thing in our family is that we try really hard to all be together on someone’s birthday and that’s the most precious present I could have. This year for the first time, my son is away at college in another city, and my birthday’s coming up on the 24th of this month, a Thursday, so he’s coming for the weekend which means I’ll see him the day after my birthday and have him home until Sunday afternoon. Awesome!
My favorite thing about birthdays is getting together with friends and family to celebrate – and the presents are nice too!
My favorite thing is the feeling of being special all day & sometimes I drag it out for a week!!
My favorite thing about birthdays is spending time with my family.
So many “best things” about birthdays, it’s hard to choose. Guess it would definitely be spending it w/family. The hoopla is always nice, but I have a hard time being the center of attention…I would much rather be planning someone else’s party or surprise, but for me it’s the warm fuzzies I get from family members.
Cake…cake…and ore cake!
My favorite thing about birthdays is getting presents! I just love surprises sooo much, and it doesn’t metter if it is a big presents or hanemaded (even better) as long as somebody thought about me!
I think my favorite part is being able to spend time with friends and family. Everyone is so busy these days, it’s nice to come together and share time with each other.
My favorite thing about birthdays? CAKE! Every year my mom bakes me a homemade pound cake – oh my gosh!! IT’s the best!! AND she saves the bowl for me to lick! It doesn’t get any better than that!!
Thanks – Erin M.
The part I love the most about birthdays is getting together with the family. Of course cake is just a little more icing on the celebration. Oh that was corney!!!
The best thing about birthdays – celebrating someone else’s! Your flowers sort of remind me of crewel needlework. Great job!
What’s my favorite thing about birthdays? Why, being the center of attention, of course! (and presents don’t hurt either LOL)
Wow! You are so generous! I like spending time with my family, which hardly ever happens anymore. Cake is good, too.
As a kid, we had the traditional, brightly iced cakes for our bdays. Then we all started wanting pies (we didn’t like the sweet cakes!). BUT now, my favourite birthday cake is from my DH grandmother- ginger bread with pears and whipped cream! OMG I am drooling sitting here, and I have to wait until NOVEMBER! Ackkkkk!
Diane
My favorite thing about birthdays is cake and ice cream and people to share it with.
i love to see the surprise and excitement on others faces when they open gifts and blow out their candles… and i love to see them pause for a brief moment before blowing out the candles… what are they wishing for… it’s so intriguing.
Can’t wait to see your samples and the new sets! I love watching people open their birthday presents! It’s so much fun to see their reaction. I also love the cake and ice cream!
Beautiful card.
My fav thing about birthdays is clebrating with Dh and my family and friends plus getting surprised gifts.
Thanks for a chance to win.
I LOVE birthdays! In fact, I celebrate my birthday for a whole week. heee!
My favorite is birthday cake….well, I love ALL birthday cake really but my Memaw (grandmother) always baked us an angel food cake for our birthdays. FROM SCRATCH! And we got to help…my favorite was when she would invert it onto the Coca-Cola bottle (am I aging myself here or what?) LOL So every year, I always have an angel food cake (I buy it from the store..hee) for my birthday. 🙂
GREAT card…love the beautiful and rich, vibrant colors.
Can’t wait to see more!
I’m not crazy about MY birthdays anymore………LOL
but I love to celebrate my kid’s birthdays…..
making them feel really special on THEIR day! 🙂
My fav b day memory is when my hubby throw me a Batman b day party! I love batman so it was so fun! and it was a surprise!
Hi!
The best thing about birthdays……….is that the alternative is not too good!
My favourite thing about birthdays is being spoilt or being able to spoil someone I love 🙂
What a great card! I love that stamp set! The part about ones own birthday is that you get to celebrate that you’ve made it another year! And the best part of others birthdays is buying presents and making cards for them.
I love the anticipation of my children for everyone’s birthday- choosing the right kinds of cake, making some creative gifts, etc. Each month my daughter (3 1/2) makes cards for all of the birthdays coming and loves to call and sing “Happy birthday.” It’s one of our ways of spicing up life!
I just love the idea of celebrating the life of someone special. You get to think about how the world is a better place because that person was born and SMILE. You also get cake 🙂
Beautiful card!=) My favorite part of birthdays are the cake and ice cream! Yum! Have a great day…
In my family, whoever the birthday person is gets to pick what we do and what they want to eat. So, for my birthday was yesterday, the 13th, we hung out around the swimming pool, played with the dogs, had pizza for lunch and the best part is I didn’t do any work around the house!
I love having family around for birthdays. Thanks for sharing the cards and chance to win new stamps.
I love gift giving…every part of it. Finding the perfect gift, coordinating the cards, wrapping paper, etc… and finally watching the person open the gift.
Thanks for the chance to win!
Kris
One of my favorite birthday memeories is the year my hubby actually managed to surprise me.
One of our friends had a birthday in AUG. but he wanted to go to Universal Studios halloween Night in Oct… My birthday is in OCT and I had always wanted to go to Sea World which was more of a summer activity.
So we thought it might be fun to trade birthdays that year.
Well we were all in our early 20s and poor, so the trips plans didn’t work out and I assumed we’d go back to celebrating our own birthdays.
One August night I get a call from hubby on his way home from work, He had broken down and was at the shell gas station, would I come get him.
So I go to get him and since the station is right next to a Denny’s I ask if we can go ahead and eat there. He says yes and in we go. The hostess lead us to a table where all our friens are sitting, shouting Happy Un-Birthday!
(turns out it was all part of the plan…he wasn’t really broke down and he KNEW I would ask to go to Denny’s)
I never saw it coming…I was totally surprised.
(I later told hubby if he ever surprised me like that again…make sure someone has a camera to capture it. I would have loved to have seen my face.)
Best thing about birthdays is finding the “perfect” gift for the person who’s birthday it is and watching the SMILE light up their face when they open and say “You remembered!” Of course it’s really nice when that happens to me, too 🙂
Thanks for sharing Lauren
My favorite things about birthdays is the meal that I get to eat just for my birthday. Who cares if it’s a combination of cheese fries, veal parmesan and salad. LOL
The best thing about birthdays is celebrating with family, friends and chocolate banana cake!
The best thing about birthdays is that my mom makes me my all time favorite food–still. Birthdays are huge in my family so the celebrations last for a week and you literally you can do no wrong. (With my husband I always try and stretch it). “But it’s my birthday month…” =)
BTW: I love your work. Thanks for sharing with all of us.
I always look forward to the cake at birthdays! Yum!:)
Well this is an appropriate post because it’s my birthday this week. I think the thing I like most about birthdays is making that day special for the important people in my life. Everyone should have a day to feel special.
Lauren, I love to look at your card samples, they encourage me to try different things, especially color combinations and to just think outside the box. When we were growing up, we got to pick what we want for dinner, didn’t have to do any chores, and my dad (who went through cake decorating school after WW2) made our very own birthday cakes. He also made each of our wedding cakes. That is a tradition I carried over with our three children and always make our grandchildren’s birthdays a very special day, especially since they live on the east coast and we live on the west coast, so we usually fly back east to be there for each of their birthdays, which isn’t easy when you have nine, aging from 14 to 5 months.
I love have the ability to use my birthday as an excuse to go out and have fun with family and friends! With busy schedules, we all don’t see each other much so going out for a birthday gives us the chance!
what i love about birthdays! I like making cards for that special person and buying gifts! thanks for the opportunity
Heather
Love the card. My favorite birthday treat is getting together with all of my grandchildren.
The best thing about birthdays is how excited my girls get on my birthday. Even though I am in my early 40’s, their excitement has an impact on me and is the reason I approach each new year with great enthusiasm and gratitude.
My favorite thing about birthdays is baking the cake for my kids. I *always* make a dark chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, both family recipes handed down. It’s a special tradition. My kids look forward to watching me make it and the smell of the cake baking almost as much as the actual eating.
Lauren, you know how much I LOVE LAD stuff so I have already submitted a couple things over there to try to win ALL the releases! Anyway, as for birthdays, I like my kids birthdays because I love doing a party for them. When I was growing up we lived in a very small mobile home and there was never “enough room for a party” so I didn’t have a birthday party till I was 16 and a friend invited some mutal friends to her house to celebrate. I just LOVE living through my girls (he, he, he) and having a party for each of them!
My favorite thing about birthdays is the fun of planning how to treat someone on their very special day. I love being able to do just the right thing to bring a smile and a sparkle in the eye whether they are young or older!!
I loved the surprise party my DH threw for me, flying in my BFF from Las Vegas……..just being surrounded by my friends and all the laughter was awesome. They all got along beautifully and new friendships were formed from that night. Kind of makes each year’s passing a bit easier.
I love everything you make! You’re so talented. I love spending my birthday with my six daughters, and grandson and they always buy a cake with lots of frosting and give me the corner and any flowers. I love the frosting! Yum! LOL!
I just had my 35th birthday. My girlfriends kidnapped me and took me to lunch and a girls only day of shopping. It was wonderful. But the best part was when we came home and all of our families had pizza and cake together. I think I love birthdays because of the togetherness that it creates.
Birthday’s are fun because it is your special day! I tired, when my kids were younger to let them know they were king (or queen) for that day. I pampered them and made their favorite dinner. They got to eat on the special plate and always had a special cake made just for them. I love b-days!
Okay whats not to love about birthdays. CAKE, CUPCAKES, PRESENTS, cards, phone calls just for you.,LUNCH, DINNER doing something FUN, doing fun things just for you all day or all week!!! Planning birthdays for my kiddos is always SUPER FUN and I make sure they get all the above!
cake! and being with my family. that’s what makes a great birthday!
I love birthdays…not just my own either! Who doesn’t love cake and presents, right? It’s so easy to make somebody feel soooo special on their birthday…I love that!
I love to plan birthday parties for my kids. I go all out. I figure it’s their one special day each year and I want it to be extra special.
I LOVE HAVING ALL OF MY FAMILY AROUND…. THE BEST PRESENT
Making cakes, cupcakes, and favorite foods for the birthday person and just any reason to bring family and friends together to celebrate. Thanks.
I love to watch others open their gifts. They’re so excited about it, and I find myself smiling right along with them! 🙂
My favorite thing about MY birthday, is my mother has always made it special. She will decorate a cake and take it to my place of work, or send me flowers, or bring me a gift. She makes my birthday special, and I am 46! I try to make my daughter special for the day even if she is 12 hours away, and the same for my grandkids. Birthdays should just make you feel good for the day. Special. By the way, your card is great! as usual. THANKS so much for sharing. You’re such an inspiration!
Carolyn
I was born in June & I have always loved that my birthday was far enough from Christmas that I’d need new toys, I mean clothes:) When people tell me I’m getting old, I always say, God willing!
Yikes! You sure are popular today. LOL Awesome card, as usual Lauren. I just love your coloring. What do I love about birthdays? Presents! Always have, always will. 🙂 Especially when they’re stamps.
I love making Birthday cards!!! The majority of the cards I make are for birthdays and I love thinking of friends and family and coming up with the perfect card.
Since having a child 7 years ago (and getting a niece the same year) I love planning their parties. A couple years ago I did a very elaborate Flower Faery Garden party for my niece. Each guest planted a primrose in a pink heart-shaped pot and sprinkled faery dust in the dirt (sanding sugar) to help the flowers grow. At Christmas time after I finished decorating last year Peyton saw some glitter on the fireplace hearth and said “mom, the faeries were here last night”!
One of my favorite things about having a birthday is that it’s a great excuse to get together with friends for dinner – no kids – just fun adult time. I don’t seem to get much of that anymore, so when I do, it’s a treat. 🙂
My favorite things about birthdays is presents! Esp. this year as I’m looking forward to splurging on TOTALLY RAD Actions for CS3!
My favorite thing about birthdays is the gathering of family and friends to celebrate – the sharing of a meal and of course the CAKE and ice cream.
i love spending it with my family and getting the presents my kids chose for me!
My grandpa is my hero and the rock of my family. My favorite family birthday tradition is when he calls early on the morning of my birthday and using a funny voice asks, “Is there something you want to tell me this morning?” He acts like he has no idea what the day is. It’s corny but I love it! Thanks for sharing with us!
CAKE!!! Mmm… love cake! LOL. I love feeling like it’s my special day. I get away with more!
My favorite things about birthdays is handmade cards. I love to send and receive them and keep every one of them (that are handmade). Cards are a gift of yourself to the person receiving it and I think it is the best gift (at least that is how I feel, am touched that someone cared enough about me to make it themselves).
Birthday cakes!!! Whether mine or someone else’s, I love cake 🙂 Making them, eating them, whatever. There’s no reason for cake (and they don’t taste as good) if you aren’t celebrating someone’s special day.
great card and love the colors also. the best thing about bd’s is going out or dinner with my husband and the great cards you get in the mail, especially when they were made by friends.
I love Birthdays cause they are special no matter what. We always get together for birthdays, even if they are late or early.
It’s the day your life began and what is more special than that – right??!!
Bev
I’m just happy to be able to celebrate a birthday at my age..every one is precious…
ICE CREAM CAKE!!! My bday is next weekend and I told DH that all I want is stamp spending money and Ice Cream Cake! LOLOL!!
You card is fantastic, can’t wait to see all the new LAD sets!
My fav thing about birthdays is shopping for the gifts and creatively wrapping them with a swanky handmade cards to go with it! I love to show off my creations!
Family, friends, pineapple upside-down cake and presents – this perfect union comes but once a year! two weeks and counting down…
I love making cards for people and getting cards from people – handmade or not.
I like my family’s tradition. We got to be king/queen for the day. We got to choose what we wanted for dinner, no chores that day and we got our own 32 oz bottle of pop. Now let me explain. I had 6 brothers & sisters so we didn’t have expensive dinners, there were always chores to do and we never got to drink pop. So all of this was above and beyond for us.
My kids don’t like anything (to eat), they don’t have chores (everday), and pop isn’t a big deal. So unfortunately I didn’t get to carry on the tradition. But I did give my kids (when they were little) the best birthday parties if I may say so myself.
Thanks for the chance.
I love planning surprises and making people feel special on their birthdays. Any excuse to eat cake is good too! lol
I love tons of helium filled ballons on the ceiling with their ribbon tails hanging down for you to walk through.
My favorite birthday cake is white cake with true buttercream frosting….yummy! I think its kinda neat that my step father’s birthday is 7/17, mine is 7/18 and my daughter’s is 7/19. Three days of cake! 6 years ago I spent my birthday trying to be induced all day (after being 10 days late) – my daughter obviously wanted her own birthday!!
My favorite thing about birthdays is going out to eat with family and friends and to anticipate the surprises that I will receive. Fabulous card Lauren.
My favorite thing about birthdays is when everyone takes the time to wish you a great day. It is so nice to know that others are thinking of me. Too often I am always thinking of everyone else and it is nice to have just a day that is all mine when I am showered with my friends homemade cards and lot of love.
For most of the little kids B-Days, we have been having a pinata…The kids think it is cool and they love the candy…Thanks Kathy Hering…
The best thing about birthdays is the memories as a little kid getting to pick the meal and the birthday cake flavor and icing color. One year Mom iced the cake too soon and split in every direction. I really didn’t care because the icing was blue-my favorite color. It all taste the same-split or not.
I love how special you feel on your birthday! It is the one day that our kid’s activities don’t interfere! Thanks for sharing your great creations!
my favorite thing about birthdays is family, all eight of my siblings, nieces, and nephews and my grandson. my son was born on the same day as my brother. my grandson born on the same day as my nephew. a nephew born on the same day as my sister in law.. my sisters share the same birthday only several years apart. we try to have a hugh birthday party gala at least every quarter to celebrate everyones birthday as a family. the favorite cake is homemade carrot cake or chocolate cake. come to think of it, seems like its time for another gala!!!
I love cake and ice cream eaten with family and friends. Linda Gerig
My favorite thing about Birthdays
is…The gathering of Family and Friends!!
…and the CAKE of course!!! lol 🙂
“Thanks for a chance to WIN”
*I love your Card…The colors are
a wonderful mix!! I think the
Le Jardin is a pretty & delicate flower set .
I like how you added the vellum cardstock 🙂
Can’t wait to see more…

the first call I receive every year in the early hours of the morning from my twin sister saying Happy Birthday!!!
My favorite things about birthdays are going out to eat and ice cream cake!
My favorite thing about birthdays is the special greetings from family and friends. It’s always nice to be celebrated once in awhile!
My favorite thing about birthdays is presents. giving and receiving! Sometimes when you know you got that perfect gift to give it is awesome!
Home made german chocolate cake — it’s my favorite! And my sweetie willingly makes it for me every year. Oh, I forgot with double frosting — all that thick, homemade caramelly coconutty taste. Yummy! That is what is best about birthdays as far as I am concerned!
My favorite thing about birthdays is celebrating with the ones you love!
my favorite would be the joy that others come together to share for someone special. that is what the day is for (and cake)
My favorite thing about birthdays is that friends and family are happy for you (and me for hem). They are happy to share in the fun to celebrate with you. It is so nice just to get a phone call or a card letting you know that you are remembered. Along with that – I just love the ice cream!
Thanks for the chance to win!
Michele F
I love the phone calls from friends and family on my b’day – I think that’s the best part!
My favorite birthday gift ever was my golden retriever, Tucker. got him 8 years ago from my husband. Best gift ever!
I love that early morning, when you wake up and just know it is going to be a wonderful day, when everyone you love will say something lovely to you that makes you feel special in their world.
My favorite thing about birthdays is cake with ice cream. My favorite is confetti cake with confetti icing with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. Yum yum! Maybe I need to celebrate my unbirthday tomorrow so I can have some! 🙂
Robbie
I used to love the presents, but now I just enjoy the time with family, and the day off of work!
Hi Lauren,
Love your creations! Great timing on discussing birthdays as mine is this Saturday! I love birthdays because I love to give presents and make people feel special. Thanks for the chance to win, Jeanne
I just had a birthday at the beginning of July. My WHOLE family went out for dinner and it was a great memory. My 9 year old decided he would order his first grown-up meal – no more kids meals for him. He wanted the steak and rib combo for $25.00!!! We talked him down to just a steak and when the waitress asked him if he wanted soup or salad he replied “yes, please”. He didn’t quite understand he was supposed to choose just one. He was really hungry that day.
Birthdays are such joy to celebrate LIFE.
presents, duh, best thing about birthdays…and since i’m an old mom now, it’s giving presents
very pretty card, love those colors! it is nice to have a day that you spoil the person and let them know how special they are and Happy that they were born!
I love being with family at birthday times. We’re celebrating my grandma’s 85th birthday next month and it is going to be very special. Have a great time with your hubby! Becky 😉
I’m at the point where I don’t do a lot anymore on my birthday just a nice dinner at my favorite restaurant.
Carol
The best things about birtdays are spending time with your family and BIRTHDAY CAKE! I love birthday cake not sure why since it’s no different than any other cake but a birthday cake is just better. I’m so happy my families birthdays are spread through out the year so I can have birthday cake about once a month. 🙂
Fave thing about birthdays?? Well, the cake and presents, of course!! Hehe! And also spending time with family and friends and everyone making you feel special! Love seeing your work, as always!!!
don’t know if I’m too late to post or not, but my favorite things about bd is making the day super special for the bd person. Here I make all their favorite foods that day, love finding gifts “just” for them and making them feel that they are worth celebrating!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!!!
I love red velvet cake
Children’s birthdays are my favorite! And, I would have to say my favorite part would be the cake eating photo taking…you can get some real fun pictures :0)
