Back from the doctors-looks like Amber has Fifth’s Disease.
Basically a virus that looks like you have 2 slapped cheeks. Nothing we can do. Contagious 2 days before you breakout in the rash :C
Not a big deal, except for pregnant women-given that my brother’s girlfriend lives with us and is 35 weeks along we have to watch her. She will have a tidor drawn tomorrow, but given she isn’t in the 1st trimester and is in the 3rd trimester she should be good.
Fingers crossed

Glad it isn’t anything serious, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for your bro’s girlfriend. -Molly B
Whew! Yup, that’s nothing to be worried about. Hope your brother’s girlfriend is alright though.
Aveeno collodial oatmeal packets in a bath of not too hot water works really well for itchiness.
My girlfriend’s little girl had this back in November. The doctor recommended that Mommy as well as the other kids avoided pregnant women for a couple days to make sure the other kids and Mom didn’t get it. It was a concern for us as we couldn’t get together as I was in my first trimester. All worked out her other daughter didn’t get it and daughter #1 was as good as new in a couple days.
OMG Lauren!
We soo went through this a cpl weeks ago! Good ol “Slapped Checks” as they call it. All 3 of my kids had it (one right after the other). DS(age 2) had a super bad case though! He is just now getting rid of his entire body rash! Poor lil guy had it something BAD!
Hope Amber gets over her soon!

Thank Goodness Amber is ok 🙂 I’m sure it’s not the nicest thing to have to deal with, but hopefully the rash will clear-up quickly.
I love your card for C.C. Designs’ new images this month …. can’t wait to see all the new stuff tonight!
[[P.S. Always wonder what “thread” or “rope” you use on your dangling heart tag? Hemp? Thanks =) ]]
Phew, good thing your sister-in-law is at the end of the pregnancy. Earlier on, fifth disease can sometimes cause a miscarriage. Noah had a viral infection when I was beginning my 2nd trimester and we were wondering if it was that! 🙁 But we don’t think it was.
At least for Amber fifth disease isn’t too annoying and you are reassured! 🙂
((hugs)) <3
Glad it’s nothing TOO serious…yes, SIL should be ok, thank goodness. Shannon had it when she was about 18 mos old…apparently I must have gotten it too, not knowing, because they drew a titer for it when preggers with A, and I was immune. It went through the girls’ school back when A had chicken pox…one classroom had those, the other one had fifth’s disease… oy.
Hope it clears quickly, and she’s not too uncomfortable!! {{{HUGS}}}
Hey Lauren just saw your post title in my side bar and came to look. My Daughter had 5ths disease when I was pregnant and I was in the 2nd trimester almost the 3rd. I am an RN on LDRP and two of the best Pediatricians told me that if you are not in your 1st trimester there is nothing to worry about! I just thought I would let you know cause I was pretty scared until I found out all the damage happens while the baby is still forming not later on.
Hope Amber gets to feeling better I read lots of posts today that said they had kids sick the first day back to school must be somthing going around!!! LOL
Oh thanks for the sweet comment you left about My Willow in her Angel Costume she had so much fun being an Angel!!!!

We had quite the round of Fifths at my school! It was everywhere – kindergarden, 5th grade. Everyone had it! Fortunately no one was pregnant, so no harm done! 🙂
Glad everything is okay!

I hope Amber isn’t uncomfortable.
I hope that Amber gets past this quickly.
I have sooo been looking for a “tea set” to use on cards. Looks like I may have finally found it. A dear friend and I have tea at a lovely place called English Rose Garden about 3x a year. It’s run by a Scottish lass….couldn’t resist. Everything about it speaks of high tea. I make my friend a set of cards each year, these will be perfect to use.
Can’t wait for your next templates. Your “keepsake boxes” and “cd case covers” were a huge hit. Everyone wanted to know how I made them. I had 24 altogether. Thanks so much Lauren.
My kids all got it my third trimester with our youngest. I was told I was in the “safe” zone but still had all of the bloodwork done. Thankfully for us everything came out great. Good luck hopefully Amber will feel better & your SIL stay healthy.
Hi Lauren! Fifths disease is so awful! My oldest had it for about 3 months. It didn’t want to go away! It is a strain of chicken pox. And once you have it you are more likely to also get shingles, which is another strain of chicken pox. My poor daughter had all 3 before she was 10 years old. Shingles doesn’t just happen to the elderly and it is painful.
My 9 yo had to get her 2nd shot for chicken pox yestrday. Oh how she cried! But I told her I would rather her go through a little pinch of pain for a second, than to see her go through all the pain and discomfort her sister had to.
I hope Amber gets over it soon!!!
As soon as you posted rash, I immediately wondered if it was Fifth’s Disease. Seems like there’s a lot of that going around lately. Hope all is ok with DB’s GF.
I had that when I was younger too. I was always prone to things you could get on the skin. It’s related to chicken pox, measles and those things. Hope she gets over it soon and your Brother’s GF is ok too!!
Will keep fingers crossed for the mom to be and for Amber that she isn’t too uncomfortable.
My grandson just had this virus also. Unfortunately his mother is in her first trimester. This is really worrisome for not only her but me also. I am glad that Amber will be ok.
My daughter now 43, had the Fifth Disease at the age of 5. I worked for the doctor(billing not nursing) I thought he was kidding me when he said she had the Fifth Disease. I had never heard of it ,but by the time my son got it I was an old pro!
Both my kids have had Fifth disease. Rash starts on the face and works it way down the body so don’t freak if it moves to her chest, arms, lets etc. If I remember right, it took about 7 – 10 days for it to work its way down their body and be gone.
I am glad that she is doing good.
“Slapped Check Syndrome” that is what my daughter’s doctor called it…it went away in a few days…dont’ remember exactly how she come down with it but I know she ran a high fever.
Thanks for keeping us posted, I am glad it was nothing serious.
That is the weirdest disease. Both my daughters had it, my son never got it, and me and my husband got it. I had slapped cheeks for 2-3 weeks and was really tired all the time. My husband ran a fever on an off for about a week. I had never heard of it before we got it. Glad that was all it was.
