Well I hope you are all enjoying the few weeks we have left of Summer.
Many find the time to read a good book. “I” am not one of those people. I wish I were. I always saw Oprah’s pick list and thought “Oh, maybe someday”. Yeah right. I use to read Danielle Steel novels. BEFORE KIDS. That mainly gets your hope’s up of a tragic life turned fairytale happy ending. My life is pretty good but who has time for all that over the top romance-especially when you add kids?! Not one, or two, but 3. Someone is always needing something, and if you actually set to PLAN a romantic evening, you can bet one of the kids will fall ill or have some sort of crisis. I know when we went away the highlight was the fact we could actually take a nap without being awoken by anything! LOL! I’m sure Im not alone on this. If I am then please share HOW you manage with small children.
Reading makes me sleepy, and in all honesty I’d rather be stamping. I know, its a sickness, but I know my husband is happy that I found a hobby that I not only LOVE but will stick too. I have been stamping for 4 years now! (Minus the year Alexa lived at Dartmouth Hitchcock hospital) I can’t tell you how much I love it. More so now than ever. It’s opened a whole new world to me, and relieves my stress. Even when I have a ba-jillion things to do, I just thrive on it.
So anyway, I figured I’d share some samples today. This one is the What’s The Story Flopsey?
I made my main image just like a book! I layered a cover, and a few pages!! They are held open with a paperclip I made using what else but a paper clip and a epoxy sticker, with some ribbon! LOL!
The flowers are done using punches. I love the colors and the book idea. Just too cute. This set is fabulous for library stuff, or reading programs too. Think like a reading challenge chart? I think Im going to make that!!! Better jot that down in my book 😀
Now another card, in honor of the Sugarplums release last night. I didn’t get to the party because my Internet was out :C We had some pretty nasty thunderstorms here. It’s been on & off all day.
Did you get your Sugarplums last night?
OK I know its hard to see the sentiment but thats what it says. I love it. The birds in this set are just UBER cute. This paper is a old collection from SEI. I just adore it to pieces. Berry sorbet ribbon from PTI. The little gray bird is flocked and all cute and fuzzy.
Well that is all for me.
I’m off to actually do some exercise! I know, don’t fall off your chair.
Both Noah & Amber are in my Uncle’s Wedding on the 24th, and that has really come up on me quick. I wanted to lose like 15lbs by then, when I suddenly realized that it is the 12th! WHAT?! Already? Where did the time go? I guess getting HOT for the summer idea is off the table. Summer is OVER! LOL!
So Im busting my hiney doing cardio everyday till then. Down to ONE cup of coffee, and only drinking water. No Diet soda. Eatting healthy, and not until I’m full, but satisfied. I usually drop weight fast when I actually work out, so I’m positive. You have to be in a good mind set to start a life change.
Now here lies my question. WHY when Im on a diet and trying to get healthier does it seem all I see is yummy food?! It’s everywhere! I was browsing the new SU! Catty that my friend mailed me, and there was some sort of delicious treat on every page. UGH!! Its a real killer! Worse is my hubby doesn’t get it because he truly doesn’ like sweets! How tha tis possible is beyond me.
Oh well. I am on a mission. I just have to remember that I CAN do it. I have done it before. The thing is after a workout I feel awesome. Then around 3 pm I feel like I need a nap. Then after dinner, somewhere after 7:30pm Im starving!! But that is the worst time to eat!! I even wake up hungry in the middle of the night! But come morning I have to force myself to eat breakfast. Weird.
WOW! Bet you weren’t expecting all that were you? I guess if you go through all the same stuff you know you aren’t alone 😀 I’m here going through the uphill battle with you.
Tomorrow I have a super post for you, so come back OK!!
Later-

Good luck with your healthier life style. It gets easier as your body adjusts to no sugar. I remember a few years ago a friend and I were dieting and walking 3 miles every evening. At one point she said I am getting tired of going to bed as soon as we get home from our walk so I won’t eat anything. Oh to have a metabolism that allows you to eat anything without weight gain!!! Ann
Such cute cards. I really love Olivia but I am on a budget and I have to see what the other companies are coming out with first. You know, get what you”need” and then later you can get what you want.
I read, but not as much as I used to. I was raised on Danielle Steel hehehe. But I am trying to branch out to otehr things.
GL with the workout. You are better than me. I cannot deny sweets but DH isn’t a huge fan so has no trouble saying no to them. Drives me crazy because I don’t like to eat it alone.
Great Cards as always…. you sound so much like me….. i could live on sweets that is all i crave forget the mash potatoes give me dessert…… oh well…. Good luck on the weight loss…. I know its a constant battle for me but if you keep focused it will come off…..
VC Andrews use to be my favorite pre children… now with 4 kids what is “free time”?????
Lauren, I so enjoyed this post. I am a new “fan” of your blog, visiting each morning and then again during the day to make sure I didn’t miss anything. I have been asking myself “how do you do it?” My husband put up a tuff shed in our back yard so I would have a “studio” to stamp and scrapbook and I have not been able to find any time to do either. Between soccer practice and summer activities there is no time for me. As for romance…sorry, I have no advice for you there! 🙂 And I only have two kids! love, love love your work!
I don’t know how you do everything you do and with kids to boot. I don’t have kids (been trying for 4 years…apparently it’s much harder than it seems), and I can barely find the time to stamp just for fun. Doing my SU! classes is fun, but it’s also limiting sometimes and it’s another obligation. I love doing your weekly sketches now, because I get to use whatever materials I want.
As for the healthy lifestyle…you go, girl! I was exercising every morning for six months, then once summer hit, I haven’t done anything. You’re giving me some motivation to get started again though. I don’t drop weight easily, but I do gain it very easily. It took my the six months to lose 9 pounds, and I’ve gained 7 back this summer already. Ugh! And I totally get the food thing too.
Good luck to you!
Oh, and for the reading. I just read a series written for teens/young adults that a fellow stamper recommended to me. All the teenage girls are reading Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight series. I read them all and quite enjoyed them. Quick, easy, mindless reads, but very entertaining!
Super-cute cards, Lauren!
I wouldn’t worry about getting hot for the summer; you already are! 🙂
I’m wondering if we’re ever going to see some updated pictures of Daisy. I miss that cute little face. 😉
I can so totally relate! My husband and I just bought a Bowflex and have started their exercise/diet plan. It is so hard!! The diet part, not necessarily the exercise part. Last night we were watching TV eating our 100 calorie popcorn and counted 6 food commercials in a row. Why are they allowed to do that?! Keep at it! You need all the extra energy to keep up with those precious kiddos of yours!
Ugh! I’m currently trying to drop 10 lbs. myself. It’s so hard to deny myself all the yummy junk I love! I took a break on Saturday because I thought I’d go crazy without a treat, now I’m bakc on track–but with two baby showers to attend this week (and I’m supposed to bring cupcakes!) I think I’ll be doing just a tad of cheating! Good luck with your diet and kudos on working out!
Hey girl, I feel just like you, although I can’t give up the pop or coffee…!!! As for reading it puts me fast asleep..so I listen to books on tape/cd/ipod….it’s great!!! I also have started exercising as much as possible, but 5am gets pretty early for me…after working 10hrs, going to the store and making supper, I only have one child so I can only imagion how I’ll feel after another…where exectally do you find time to stamp….? I try during nap time, but sometimes I too need a nap!!!! YOu inspire me Lauren, I think the way you color in your stamps makes them really come to life!!!!
Lauren both cards are super cute!! I am loving colouring those SugarPlums too! LOVE the Floppy card, can’t wait to get that set…hehe!
You and me both…I keep saying I am going to lose weight/get active so I bought a Wii Fit. Now when I don’t excercise one day, I get the little message, ” Too busy to excercise yesterday?” OMG….does that make you feel guilty…haha!
Lauren, these are perfection, as always! You don’t look like you could stand to lose 10 lbs, sweetie. 😀 Good luck though! I don’t think I’ll ever have time to exercise properly again unless I QUIT stamping and get my hiney off this chair. . .
Really SWEET stamps 🙂
Fabulous Cards!!
Colors are wonderful.
Weather here has been stormy too.
haven’t had the computer on much 🙁
Lauren, we must be on the same metabolism roller coaster. I feel the same way after exercising, during the night, and in the morning. It gets so much harder as you get older too! My dh is the same…if he never had another sweet it would be too soon…how is that possible is right!!! Staying in shape is so hard with a job, kids, etc. and it makes it more difficult when SU puts treats in front of our eyes! LOL!
Both of these are totally adorable, Lauren!! Beautiful coloring too!!
Lauren, love the floppsy card! What a darling idea to make it look like a book.
Good luck with your exercise and healthy eating. It can be a struggle at times. Just tell yourself to stamp a card instead of snacking!
Love how you made a book on the card! Cute cute!
And my goodness you’re not kidding- half the catalog is treats!!! but then…you consider the season we’re heading in to with Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years, that’s all it is, isn’t it? TREATS. I know, I could live off soda and sugary foods, but it sounds like you’re doing great! Good for you for at least putting forth the effort! 🙂
