Well Happy post Thanksgiving! Lots to share today.
I hope you all had a fabulous holiday! We definitely did, and I ate SO much I felt SICK-thats not a good idea.
I hope to post some cute pic’s of the kids this weekend-ish.
I don’t know if most of you know that the day after Thanksgiving is one of the best and BIGGEST shopping days of the year (along with day after Christmas) with amazing SALE’s around here. Its called Black Friday.
In honor of that I have a card! Its a 3D shopping bag I made using my Scor-Pal ,attached to a card front, that can hold a gift card-then you write inside 😀 GENIUS for Jason’s teen cousin-this is her holder for this year. I used the trio of Shopping Bella’s.
Every year I get up at 4 am, put my happy face on, get my Jumbo Dunkin’s coffee and BRAVE the crowds.
Can I tell you that this year was by FAR the WORST I have seen. I had 6 incidents of people trying to steal HOT items out of my cart, while I was trying to get something else!
Please dont do that to anyone-its really rude! The everyday Lauren would have went “gangsta” on them- LOL! But the happy Lauren who shops on this insane day is mentally prepared for the desperation of parents to do whatever is possible to get that ONE toy! So I jut said-Um, yeah thats my cart, put it back. Thanks.
I got everything I set for EXCEPT the MP3 players ($10!!!!). But thats OK.
I waited in line at Toys R Us for OVER 2 hours, and then saw the over charged me for 3 items! So I then had to wait in customer service line. I was NOT happy about that. I dont like that you cannot see the SALE price ring through on their registers as it takes it off at the end. I did save about $191!!!! Go me! BEFORE I went I “thought” my kids were “done”. I guess I went a little overboard. EEK. What daddy doesn’t know will not hurt mommy.
My shopping trip did go well, as I grabbed this one worker, and immediately “hired him” as my assistant shopper-to find all the items I needed, while my hubby was on the cell phone (forgot my flyer in the card- STUPID!!!!). It really is a great system 😀 Just bat your eyes and look pathetically helpless. You then go for the SHY guy, who would feel too bad to tell you he cannot help you. He has his walkie talkie, and then gets people to begin pulling items of your choice, off the shelves, as you shuffle through the store.
This year it took me a little while to snag the perfect worker-but he was found. And did a killer job.
See I talked about desperate parents, I in my own way have my own desperate measure 😀 I admit it.
I’m sad I didnt get to meet up with a local girl Staci for coffee-we were both running around nutty. We had a quick chat, then got back to the shopping. I hope to catch up with her soon though!
OK Sorry for the WAY off topic. I suppose if you read my blog, you already realize this is an ongoing habit. But that’s ME. I ramble and talk. If you were to call me on the phone-I swear we could have a conversation like we have known each other forever. I have not decided if my chatty nature is a plus of a minus in personality traits. HMMMM.
Ok Blog Challenge.
We are suppose to get inspired by something!

So very cute and clever the way you tucked the slider card into the card front. Great job Lauren. You’re much braver than I, as I won’t dare go near a mall today. It’s safer at home. No one runniing me over there, in fact, once I start the Holiday decorating today, everyone will magically disappear!
Hi Lauren, We don’t have “black fridays” in Canada and really I never see the sales that happen in the states. My kids are now grown (18 and 22) so one big ticket item does it all and just a stocking filled with fun and necessisties. I used to shop for over 45 people and was usually done by the end of september. Now I have chopped that list right down to the basic minimum of about 12. This way I have a little extra to give to charities over the holidays. I do miss shopping for little ones but that is life. Happiest of the season to you and your entire family. Love your blog.

Fabulous job Lauren… I think the gift card slider is a great idea and the Bella bag is completely adorable… but, I must say, the thing I love the most is the name of your blog… ‘my stampendence’ is totally perfect!

That bella bag is perfect for a teen! You are so very clever. I avoid Black Friday shopping at all cost, normally. However, MIL is visiting and wants to go to ACM today, so we’ll go (I must be nuts!).
As for my inspiration, here’s moment of inspiration I’m actually quite pleased with. A wedding card for a friend’s daughter – inspiration (and part of the card) taken from the invitation. http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/727250?cat=500&ppuser=32202
Glad you had a fun Thanksgiving. Looking forward to the Smilebox!
Well, I’m glad shopping went so well for you. Not, so well for me. I haven’t gone out on Black Friday in many years. For some reason, I thought I would try it. There were a couple items I was interested in checking out. I didn’t mind the traffic, the problems finding parking, or the packed stores. What I didn’t count on was the incredibly long lines. I guess I figured the stores would be prepared to get people in and out quickly. What a mistake on my part! The only store I actually bought anything at was the Christian Book Store, whose lines were almost non-existant. I would like to think that is because they were prepared, though I realize it has more to do with the fact that far less people are drawn there. Maybe some day…
Hi Lauren,
Love your blog and your work. I have not gone Black Friday shopping in years. Just can’t stand the crowd & people pushing & shoving you….YUCK! I’m glad you were able to complete your shopping & have a good out look on it. However, I was interested in your cute bag card. Do you have instructions for it? I want to give it a try for my nieces b-day that’s coming up.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Sheryl :0)
Yesterday night I told my hubby “I almost feel like putting my alarm clock on at 4am so that I can wake up and tell myself “some crazy people are getting ready to go shop right now” and then go blissfully back to sleep…!” LOL! 🙂
I didn’t put the alarm clock on… but I can’t even imagine shopping today unless I absolutely had to. I am SO not a morning person and I HATE crowds so this is not for me!….
I can’t believe people would actually try to take things from your cart!!!! O_o
Sometimes I tell myself that the holidays bring the worse in some people!! The religious spirit is gone and there’s only this “consumption need”… 🙁
On a brighter note I went on “all that scraps” and ordered some beautiful pattern paper on sale and more of those versamagic dew drops that I just discovered and love!!… 🙂
Now that’s MY perfect way of spending black friday! 😉
Glad your day was successful though….
WAY to go Lauren!!! You saved big time. WOO-HOO!!!! I went out this AM too..but at 1am…yep…one of our malls opened at 1am!!! I found someone crazy enough to go with me…my mother in law…LOL. We shopped at Archivers at 1am…how fun was that? I will tell you…the MALL was packed…JAMMED..I was so shocked…I didnt think many people were as STUPID as me. It sure was fun though. I love your little Bella gift card bag. Please post some instructions. I have a niece who would love one of those. And by the way…I think you are enormously talented..BUT…I come to your blog mostly because you are chatty and ramble on. I LOVE that about you. If I just wanted to look at creations…I can go to SCS, but I love that I get to know things about you and your family. It makes you real and not just a PSF. Thanks for sharing yourself and your awesome work!! Sorry for being long winded today.

Awesome card…and thanks for also supplying the directions! I was out early this morning, but had a very peaceful trip to Kohl’s, M’s and then back home before Nick had to leave at 6:30 for work…HOWEVER – he neglected to mention we have to 1/2 and 1/2, so I’ve been without coffee ALL DAY! I’ve been too lazy to try and hide everything I bought this morning (it’s out in the car, and would be in plain view, no trunk 🙁 ) and take the girls out just to get 1/2 and 1/2…
GREAT shopping…I would have liked to have hit TRU, but my ‘curfew’ certainly wouldn’t allow for that trip, esp. since TRU is a 1/2 hour away… 1 DD is definitely DONE, for Christmas AND he immediately following B-Day, the other one is just about there, a few more things, and then that’s it…then I have to get DH, and the rest of the family that we buy for…

Hi Lauren..
I just love your 3-d shopping bag card….so perfect !!
So, I see you did get up at four and brave the crowd… I certainly had enough of those days.. when the kids were small
it was sure worth it. Sorry to hear about your incident[trying to take stuff from your cart]…desperate shoppers[brings out the worst in some people]…Glad to hear that you found most of what you wanted…but those long lines[2 hrs.] STINK!!
I LOVE your inspiration card…I too, Love my Dunkin Dounut coffee! I love your Lucky pup card too..great colors.

Dee
I LOVE your chatty nature…that’s why I come….oh, and i love your cards and projects too! you are an inspiration all around!
Great cards I LOVE DD lattes and coolattas. Right now it’s the gingerbread latte. I was still asking for it in July and believe it or not some stores still had some of the syrup. LOLOL. I can’t believe you got up at 4am! I went to Toys R Us around 11 and it wasn’t crowded. I’m sure I missed some super great deals but that’s ok. I like chatty it’s great.
Adorable and super inspiration piece, Lauren!
Yikes…looks like you have some spammers up there.
I love all of your projects, Lauren!!
These are so cute & adorable – I just love the colors!
Both cards are wonderful. The colors you used are so pretty and festive together. Love that little dog image.
great job Lauren!! love how these turned out!!
Great use of the “inspired by challenge” Lauren – your creations are always beautiful!
Hi Lauren,
So glad you are feeling better and the dental issues are in the past.
I cannot BELIEVE ENY person (let alone SIX) would be RUDE RUDE RUDE enough to take something out of your CART! Hel-LO?!! WOW- that is BAD! We are stuck overseas and really only have the Base Excahnge at which to shop in person (G-d bless the internet!), so when they run out, it’s O-U-T and even we don’t resort to such tactics. I was floored when I read that on your blog! I am glad you were able to keep your positive attitude despite it all and that you were able to get so many items on your list. That’s terrific! Don’t you just love a bargain? 🙂
Still trying to decide if I should invest in an ATG Gun and a Scor-It for myself. Thanks for recommending less expensive online suppliers.
Hope you have a wonderfulholiday!
Meredith
Lauren…you are just SO awesome…I love your work. Awesome challenge card! Your stories totally crack me up, too! AND, I didn’t realize that you were such a BRAVE soul to get out and shop at the crack of dawn on Black Friday! Gives me chills to think about it! lol!
Lauren you are on a roll lately with all the great Holiday projects! I love your shopping bag gift card holder. Very cool for a teenager!
Also, your blogger’s challenge cards are great! The Dunkin Donuts holiday campaign is so bright and festive and you captured that perfectly in your two cards. Thanks for being such an inspiration to all of us!
Great ideas as usual Lauren. I love them all.
