Here is Alexa the other day! She has been spiking her hair, the combing her small bangs to the side, and putting a barret of head band! LOL! Her hair is finally growing in nice. It actually does look really cute. She looks so old in this photo to me! She will be 8 on the 29th! Still no RSVP’s to her party-HMMM!
This post is family related-no stamp talk! I had a post planned for today WHINING about rejection! RIDICULOUS! There are so many more important things in life sometimes, than WHY did this card not get accepted and whatnot. Im not saying people have no right to complain and get upset-I do too! Just somedays I acknowledge life is so precious. And there are worse things than rejection.
I had a LIVE inteview for our local Radio Station in town this morning. I spoke with Nazzy from WJYY. They are working to raise money for the Kids with Cancer at CHaD. Their goal is $25,000! He is staying up on the Zipline till the money is raised. Sadly they are far from thier goal, and he has been there for over 24 hours now.
I was there to speak about Alexa and our expierience with Cancer, and at CHaD. It just ook me back to that first day, and those 9 months in the hosptial. And NOW! How blessed we are to still have Alexa with us. I never forget that-just today made me sad. Some parents aren’t so blessed. Caner is cruel disease.
You dont know what that will feel like till you are THERE. I true nightmare! And it can happen to ANYONE-sadly.
So, for the radio staion stuff- Check that out ——>HERE This is where you can help make a difference!
I love speaking and helping in any way I can. It was hard to talk about our expierience but I got through the LIVE interview with no problem!
He even told me after the interview, I ahd great prescence, and I have a great radio/speaking voice, and thinks this thing is my calling! LOL! Dont know about that. He said I should publically do stuff more often-YEAH dont know about that! He also said he loved my story, and how I advocated! What a nice compliment. I do feel compelled to make a difference in any way I can, and he confirmed his belief God put me on this path for a reason.
I dont know why God wants me doing anything-LOL! But here I am.
I wish I could get a “copy” or something and have people here listen to it!
Please check it out, and if you can afford to-make a difference! No amount is too small!
Also please pray for Alexa today! She is starting with a cold, and the littlest cold can seriously turn into a life threatening virus/ illness for her. I dont want her to end up in the hospital.
Thanks-
Ill try to post later, Im now having a sad day. Just listening to the doctors and other families talk about this, has taken an emotional toll on me, and Im worried about Alexa’s cold.
Sorry no cheery upbeat stuff to share.
If you do help-thanks so much! Even if you cant afford to, thanks for reading, and any prayers you send up for Alexa today will be so appreciated! I know God heard every voice that prayed for her when this all happened.
Have a great day!

Lauren, I’m keeping Alexa in my thoughts & prayers.
Don’t apologize for no cherry upbeat stuff!!!! We are always here for you whether it is happy or sad!!!
I will keep Alexa in my prayers (as always). I sure hope the cold passes quickly and with not problems!!!!
BTW, I LOVE tha picture of Alexa. Her hair looks adorable like she is wearing it!!
HUGS to you girl!!! You’ve had a rough/emotional morning and I sure hope the day gets brighter for you!!
I think it’s amazing how you speak so openly about your life and your battles. It really shows the kind of person you are – and I can see how that would come out when you speak on the radio. It hits people and makes them think about life – and that is a true gift. You run with that and get your voice out there. I have lost two very important people to cancer. It’s awful. I will keep Alexa in my thoughts and hope for the best for your entire family!!
Lauren~ {{{{hugs}}}}} You are so right, it can hit anybody, and life is so precious! My girlfriends son id being treated for Ewings Sarcoma currently, and it’s a miserable thing. Have your bad days, we all do, and we will still be here!
Her pciture is adorable, love that she does her hair!!
Life is too short, and we all need to enjoy each day!!
Hope yours is better tomorrow!!
Dang! I wish I had heard your interview! I thought of you when I drove by the State House and saw the JYY van in front. I’m glad it went well.
Sending good thoughts and big hugs to you and Alexa today and everyday. Hope that cold doesn’t materialize into anything.
Tell Alexa we’re all lovin’ her new pic – she looks so cool and sassy!
Good luck today on the radio. Great picture, her hair is looking cute, let her know Yolanda who was one of america’s next top models had her hair spiked like that 🙂
I bet she’s excited just to have it start growing back again. Just wanted to let you know you’ll be in my thoughts and prayers.
(((HUGS))) to Alexa-Samantha
Hello, I joined your blog yesterday and love it. Your story of Alexa has touched my heart, even before I got to put a name to a face. I saw the stamp set a few months ago on MBD.com and fell in love with it…I bought it and am proud to have it in my collection! Alexa is one beautiful and special little girl, you are truly Blessed to have her. I am praying for her to be healed! We know God can do anything, so stay positive and believe that He takes care of His children. God Bless you and your family…give kisses to Alexa for me! I look forward to your updates! Christina in Modesto,Ca.
No need to appologize Lauren! I so admire all that you do. That is what I love about your blog, we hear the highs and lows. We all have them to one degree or another and we are here to listen to you and maybe help you out! You truely inspire me in everything you do!

hugs and prayers to you and your family! Hope Alexa is feeling better soon, and that you have a better rest of the day 🙂
Lauren, Alexa is so beautiful and she does look older! What a sweet picture and I love that she is styling her hair! Thank you for sharing your story, it really has changed my life, I can’t begin to tell you in all the ways. You and Jason are amazing and I am so touched by your family. We are all allowed down days (didn’t you just tell me that!), I am just glad that you still post and not hide away when you feel that way. Prayers for our dear Alexa and hugs for all of you! And I hope those rsvp’s come flowing in soon!
Your daughter is an angel sent from God. He knew you would be the BEST person to love and care for Her. He knows your heart and cries with you when you are sad. I pray you and Alexa have many more HEALTHY days together as mother/daughter and best friends!
OM Gosh! Alexa looks SO grown up in this picture, I love it 🙂 No need to apologize about not being upbeat Lauren…it is good to be thankful, but understandable that you still have feelings my dear!
LOTS of prayers that the cold goes away as quickly as it came, especially before her birthday!
If not one else replies I’ll come to her party!!! sounds like fun to me 😉 (hopefully I’ll have had the baby by then too 😉 )
Hang in there chickadee, and enjoy that beautiful family of yours!!!
You are permitted to have “down” times. I know, I have a lot of them. I am going to check the link and I will be making a donation.
I will be covering Miss Alexa in prayer that this cold leaves her quickly.
Tell her she is quite the stylin’ chickie! Love that hair.
Hi Lauren,
I read your blog daily and I am just a hop, skip and a jump away in Manchester :). I truly believe God hears each and everyone of our prayers and he has special plans for Alexa (already evidenced by the way she has touched many a blog reader and now radio listeners). God Bless -M
Cute picture of Alexa and she does look very grown up. Don’t worry about being upbeat, we all have those days. i admire your drive and all that you do. Know thousands of us are behind you to help when you need a shoulder, hug & prayer!!! Hugs & prayers. Chris
ever since I read your story and the story about Alexa, I have had your family in my prayers. You are a woman of great strength and it’s so hard to believe that we are the same age!!! God will provide! and remember, not every day are we supposed to pretend life is grand! We are humans and therefore, we hit bumps in the road each day. Life is NOT perfect, by any means, and we all can agree with that.
God bless you and your family!
Lauren,
Prayers are always said for Alexa and your crew, but extra are on the way. Girlie…. besides being sicknigly too talented and an amazing Mom….. The one thing I admire most about you is your honesty. From how long you neglected your dentist 😉 to your ups and downs with having a special needs child who also has cancer. I think it’s great that you are so open and honest with your feelings. Alexa is very inspiring to many many people… but where do you think she got that from??
How I wish I could of heard your interview. After listening to Alexa read a story to Amber both your girls voices and yours are often in my mind. God gives us strength and only He knows how much each of us can handle. I made a donation and hope it will help.
As always your family are in my thoughts and daily prayers.
Love to you all,
Diana
PS I adore Amber’s hair, she is very pretty!!!
We’ll say a prayer for Alexa Lauren! Very nice post – good to be reminded of how very much we have to be thankful for and how there are so many out there that need our love & support! Thanks!
Alexa is adorable, her hair looks so cute and stylish. Thanks for always sharing your story with us. Good reminder to us all to appreciate the small stuff in life. You inspire many people with your stamping and you life experiences, thanks for that! Keeping Alexa in my thoughts, hope the cold disappears quickly.
Hey Lauren! She is so darn cute and you’re right she looks older in this photo. I just wanted to let you know not to worry about the RSVP’s. I had a party for my twins and invited all the girls from both of their classes. I was terrified that they might all actually come but I didn’t want anyone to feel excluded. I only received 6 RSVP’s and thought whew what a relief. I had 22 girls show up for the party!!!!! Luckily I had foresight to purchase lots of extras and I made extras of the craft and gift bags. But I thought WOW! I guess no one RSVP’s anymore. It was a crazy, hectic party but my girls had the best time, so it was totally worth it! Good luck with Alexa’s party.
Angie
Look at how her hair has grown back – it definitely looks great! I bet if you called the radio station, you can get a copy of your interview, call and ask for the station manager or the producer of the morning radio segment.
Alexa looks so cute in the picture. I’m so proud of you for doing the radio spot even if it brings back painful memories you did it for a good cause. People have no idea what you go through when one of your children is diagnoised with cancer. I’m sure you did a great job. Take care and here is praying that Alexa’s cold is just a minor thing. Twila
Alexa is beautiful! How fun! Her doing different things with their hair! My daughter turned 8 this summer and just the other day we sat back and said the same thing….look how grown up she looks! Makes me feel old sometimes! As I do, I’m sure you are looking forward to seeing her become a beautiful young woman! I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers! Let’s hope she just has a case of the sniffles today and tomorrow she wakes up feeling GREAT! Hugs to you all!
Hugs to you and your family!!! Alexa is so beautiful!
What a cutie in that pic! Praying that God will come and breathe His healing breath on Alexa, restoring her to complete health and energy.
Lauren, Alexa is so beautiful! I will pray that this cold goes away now!
Lauren..I am deeply touched by your story. My thoughts and prayers are with Alexa and your family.
I just wanted to tell you how cute Alexa looks in that picture. She just has so much personality in it! And that hair is so spunky and cute.
Love, good thoughts and prayers sent your way from one mother to another.
Lauren, Saying prayers for Alexa and you my friend. She looks great with her new do. So sassy.
I bet you rocked the radio. You are so candid and full of passion and that’s just on your blog. I bet you’re even more impressive on the radio. Again you reach out and attempt to make the world a little better for families facing cancer. Thanks, Lauren.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, Alexa, and the whole family! Hugz!!
(I love how Alexa’s hair is growing in so cute).
Lauren,
My prayers are with you & Jason & Alexa & Noah & Amber. Praying this cold is gone when she wakes up this morning! You are an amazing Mom! It’s ok to have “down days”. I think it wouldn’t be normal if we didn’t. LOVIN Alexa’s hair!!! Shows her spunk! I noticed in this pic how much she looks like you. She even turns her head the way you do for pictures! Cute, cute cute!!!
Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
I love this picture, Alexa is darn cute with this pixie cut!
I’ve lost touch with you and Alexa and all the updates and decided to check in today. I’m so glad that I did! How GREAT Alexa looks and I love the spiked hair!!! Just wanted you to know that I’m thinking of you and your family. Catherine (aka muffincards)
Hi Lauren, we are always thinking of Alexa. I have always thought that you are an amazing woman and parent. I have goose bumps writing this. I know that we do not see each other as much as we would like, but we are always thinking of you. I am proud of how much a fighter Alexa is (gee I wonder where she gets that from??) I will never forget the day she had her labs done, I couldn’t get to you fast enough. She looks so cute in her picture, of course I thought she was still beautiful without any hair. This is an excellent web page! With love, the Drakes
