Well if you are a regular reader you know that I have SERIOUS dental anxiety and problems since my first return to the dentist after 10 years!
I still havent heard about weather my insurance is going covering me (if even a little) to get some serious drugs when they pull my tooth I decided I will NOT do it otherwise! So I called them AGAIN……. still waiting-ridiculous!
Considering my problems I thought I would cheer myself up by making this card!
Its called “Sorry……….for your toothache”
CUTE huh?
Now if anyone has all their teeth pulled or some other sort of drama I have a card!
I thought a tooth fairy card would be a cute idea too. I Love the tooth wrapped with the bow!
The image in these two card is Docabella. See how she can be a nurse or dental assistant! LOL!
OK so now for the next card-
Today was a sad day cause the home nurse Alexa has had for the past 1 1/2 years was leaving the company.
I made her this card, and a gift baglet of strawberry creme “lifesavers” LOL!
Sorry for the icky photo. I found out LAST minute it was her last day, and I whipped this up late last night.
The bottle of “pills” had a “prescription” on the front that says:
A. Kauppila
RX Many Thanx 2U
That is suppose to be like medical chat-:D
I felt the card was missing something and didnt get to take a great photo as I quickly snapped this just before she rang the bell. Its pretty “plain jane” I dont know.
No matter-she cried over it-so that was sweet. Ill miss her.
That leads me to things I learned…………..
I always try to learn new things and uncover stuff about myself. This was quite the learning week so I thought I’d share my findings
1) No matter WHAT I cannot do origami! I dont know WHAT it is but for the life of me I just cannot follow the directions-too much for me. I attempted to do one for our ornament blogger’s challenge and it was a disaster
2) Dental insurance SUCKS! Sorry if you are offeneded my that-but it does. How can you pay just as much as medical but still pay out a fourtune! And why cant they ever call you back?
3) I do not stamp well at night! While Im a night person I cannot get too crafty at night. I dotn know what it is, but a item that would normally come together smoothly during the day-goes SLOWLY and is more difficult for me at night-despite the fact that I am a night person! My most creative time is between 9am and 3 pm
4) I dont think Im going to like Alexa’s new home nurse! She was very COLD and snooty-not cool. Im sure you will hear about her in the future. To be continued……
5) DO NOT DRINK WINE-I had a hangover for 2 days over 2 whopping glasses! I wasn’t trashed or anything but it hit me hard.
6) If it looks like anything edible get it out of your yard! Dont wait for your kid to eat. AND dont give them too much credit and assume they WONT!
7) Dont limit my self mentally and say “I cant do that!” I found that I should at least try it first (see #1 then say CANT if I fail). I never thought I would be able to use a digi kit! And I did! I will say I was shocked to see you can LAYER and change the color-I CANT do that YET! I hope to learn. But my first priority is stamping!
8) Getting the kids Christmas photos done in early October is a must do from now on! They shoot went great, and I am working on Christmas card designs! I plan on completing them by November first!!! I want shopping done by Thanksgiving!
9) If you spill coffee in the driver’s seat of the NEW car, and you husband thinks it was the kids-DONT fess up!
10) Dont be so hard on myself. I had a stamp-related incident and I beat myself up over it. I’m talkin so upset I lost sleep over it! STUPID. Why do that to myself? Im in this for ME and fun-I have to keep it that way. I need to put myself out there and just be happy with whatever I do! Dont put such a high expectation on myself. Its not worth it. If I dont get something handstamped made for every person on the planet then its OK!!!
a little bonus- I DONT need to get a new package of happy mail every week and shop like crazy to be happy!
Right?
I’d love to hear some of your lessons your learned about yourself/life this week!
Share here!
Oh yeah ONE more big thing for me-I learned how to post a entry and have it post at a later date/time! Now to me that is way cool! Im bouncin up and down over that one 😀
What a time saver.

Lauren, you are a sweetheart and your work is so so lovely.
Here’s a tip on dealing with the dental insurance company. Find out who the head is and send him or her a letter. Give your name and contact number and the insurance number. Explain that no one returns your calls and you want to speak with someone who has the authority to make a binding decision on your claim. Anyway, fax the letter if possible. Also, see if your state has a commission in charge of insurance companies.
Also, does the company have a board of directors? Most websites will list them. Contact them too. (Like you have nothing else better to do)…. good luck.
Sorry to hear about the dental woos. I hope it works out after all the crap they put you through.
Try to be positive that Alexa’s new nurse will work out. Maybe she just seems that way, and will warm up. If you are in the medical field you really need to be warm and caring! Why is it that some are just sooo cold! Of all the professions I’d say that is the one field where someone needs to be compassionate. If not then they should be in research! 🙂
YES, stamping is supposed to be fun. If you are getting stressed out step back a minute. I’ve been just taking it easy and having fun. Enjoying the different challenges that are out there in blog land and maybe at some point have an opportunity for a DT if it does come along.
Most of all KEEP SMILING! 🙂
oh my Lauren! You learned a lot this week!
I learned today that when my mouth hurts that I NEED to go to the dentist! I have put it off for nearly 4 years too…hate the dentist! Anyway I woke yesterday with a sore on my upper right gum….Brian was looking in my mouth with a flashlight…ya…you have a pimple there he says….lmao….anyway….I call the dentist this morning, she gets me in. I end up not having an issue with that(she says I probably brushed it too hard and irritated the gums) BUT I do have some cavaties on the bottom teeth….she she starts to fix them….ends up costing me $297 for TWO fillings! We don’t have dental coverage so I pay. She wants to see me again for a full check up and cleaning. I said okay….may as well get my every 5 year thing done….haha….THEN she hands me the estimate to clean my teeth and do xrays….$412….ummmmm ya….I’ll wait on that I think…..maybe til next month…..over 700 bucks in a week seems a little excessive!!! I’ve learned that the dentist likes to make(TAKE) tons of my money!!!
Your card is cute too! Hope the lady adored it….I’m sure she did!
I absolutely LOVE that tooth with the pretty bow on it! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!!
And your card and gift bag for your nurse is adorable, it’s a great idea with that RX you wrote for the little bottle.
You did learn quite a bit this week. I learned some things too!
Ask for help, dont try to do it all. We hired a cleaning service to help me keep the house tidy, now that my 3 1/2 yr old doesnt nap I dont have alone time to clean.
Asking for help is a biggie for me, I like to seem that I can do it all; craft, cook, clean, have my hair done. I’m a self imposed stepford wife…….
Anyway, I hope your new nurse works out better than your thinking. First impressions are sometimes wrong, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. And I’ll also keep my fingers crossed about your dental woes.
I saw this last night, and I absolutely LOVE that tooth card…if I could only get inside your head, just for a little while 😉 you never cease to amaze me!
Sorry to hear about Alexa’s Nurse…I hope the new one warms up, maybe it was just first day jitters…at least I hope so!
Great stuff…thanks always for sharing!!!
You ar so cute….how can everyone not love you? Sorry about your dental plight. I hope it will work out. I too cringe at the dentist…I’d rather go to the gyno….bad news eh? Happy day to you!
Lauren, you’re so entertaining, Girly!! Heehee!!! I have to say that the first thing I wanted to learn when setting up my new blog was how to schedule the posts for a later date — definitely a good thing for you to have learned!! You’re right — it IS a huge time saver! Way to go — don’t you feel totally computer smart now! Hahaha!
Thanks for a fun post today Chickie!
Lauren, I have to have a tooth pulled on the 29th of this month so I can sympathize with you. This particular tooth has already had a root canal on it and a crown, and now it’s broken off at the gum line! While I am waiting for my appointment, the gum is healing up so it’s really scary to me because it’s going to be more like digging it out than pulling it out. And it just plain sucks to have a tooth that I’ve already spent so much money on breaking like that!
I love your Bella projects! So very cute!!
I agree with the October shoot for holiday pics, my 4 children, 16, 14, 5 and 2 are quite impossible to get nice pictures of all. But last year and this I did them in October. Then I get photo cards from Costco, they are 5×6. I cut 12×12 cardstock into 6×6 squares, score at 1in, then fold that over the back of the photo and qlue or tape. Then you can stamp the cover, but the inside is DONE!!!!! For 75 cards it is a beeeaauuuttiiiiifulll thing. I love your blog and creations you are very talented. Not too far from here—CT. God Bless your family with continued health. With that, you can get through anything.
Hi,
I was always afraid of the dentist till I had a child. I figured if I could handle that then the dentist couldn’t be that bad. I can remember seeing this white stuff along the edge of my two front bottom teeth. I was petrified to go to the dentist, I was sure I was dying of some fungal disease…lol yes I can over re-act. It was too funny when they told me it was simply plaque.
I use to sweat everything small, medium and large always wanting to be perfect, yes a Martha Stewart. Age has helped that and now I pay others to do the cleaning! One bad habit I have, actually I am sure I have more than one but the worst is I “shop” when I am blue or feel overwhelmed with life which is more often than I would like. Someone said to me once “Don’t spend a dollar on a 10 cent problem. ” I am a worrier but that too has gotten better. Some things I do not have control over!
Hang in there sweetie! Love ya,
Diana
Great lessons learned this week – thanks for keepin it real!
I am suppose to get all four wisdom teeth pulled before the end of the year and yet I STILL have not made an appt. Oh, and we have no insurance period and it’s way less to be “awake” for the oral surgery than to be put under, so I have to be awake while they yank four of my teeth out. I HATE THE DENTIST TOO!!!! I’m with you on that one!
Have a great week!
I love the tooth card Lauren its sooo cute! The prescription bottle is a definte case for me my Moms a nurse and would get a real kick out of that! THanks for the inspiration!
