Saturday Sketch-Starry Wishes

Aug 11, 2007 Author: mytime | Filed under: Cards, Saturday Sketch

starry wish   sketch 9

I thought this would be a simple yet fun sketch!

I used the Make A Wish set by Gina K. I love how it can be elegant, or fun and funky! I like this card alot. I was thinking teen girl! The paper you have seen here before! Its Hippie Chick by SEI. I really LOVE SEI! Its probably my favorite company for paper.

I basically stamped my image, colored with Copic Markers, and then added stickles. This was a quick card-like 12 minutes!! Now that is pretty good 😀 I think all the layers make it look like it took longer. Thats the key to a great card-make it LOOK like it took forever!

Im big on tying ribbon like this. I just love the look. I did it on one card like a year ago and have loved it ever since. I used a pink, and aqua sheer organdy ribbon from Michaels for this one. HAD to add silver cord.

I hope you try this sketch. I would love for you to share it here if you do. We would all love to see your take on it.

I would also love for you to share a wish YOU have with me. It can be anything-for a product, your family, a goal- whatever you want. I totally LOVE hearing form the people who stop by here to check in, and getting to know them.

My wish

I would LOVE to get a card/project on the COVER of a magazine. It was my only goal that I did not accomplish for this year. That and losing more weight, but hey its an ongoing battle right. I will say though (while time is ticking) that Im OK with NOT accomplishing that because I have accomplished many other things that I had not set out to do! Its been a great year!

I was the inspiration for the cover of one Stampin Success magazine! It just wasn’t MY creation, it was their version of mine. So it doesnt count.

Your turn!

sketch 8

I thought it would be fun to show a little versatility in this weeks sketch. Wow these weeks just fly.

So I decided to make 2 cards for it! Each style is totally different! One is a guy card, and the other is a GROOVY card.

NOTE: If you would like to view the thumbnail-click on it to enlarge.

To the Left, to the Right. Gotta love my long winded titles! I cant helpo myself. I want to give you a mega hint as to whats in my ramblings. SO……………..Thats what I like to call this one. WHY? Because we are TILTING the main image to the left-but placing it on the right. I think its cool. Its not often we TILT our images, so challenge yourself OK.

Mr Fix It

mr fix it Here is Fixafella.

AmyR is the bestest! She sent me some Fella’s :D. Wasnt that sweet? Now I have 3 of them.

Anyway, I made this for my hubby to thank him for making me my stamp room! He deserved a SPECIAL card for all his hard work. So I did my best to make him look like Jason. He of course would never be caught dead in over-alls. He works in much more sexy attire-no shirt and dirty jeans.

So I stamped, colored, and sponged away. The bkgd on the Kraft cardstock is the ruler image wheel my SU! Not sure what its called anymore! First time using it! LOL! I also used it on the yellow to make a “measuring tape” type of image.

I got the screw brads at Oriental Trading year ago. I also used Power Up by SU! for the wrench, and the cord. The sentiment is from Just So Sayings (see my cut up set) which was my feeling about my room. I really thought that the twill tape was a perfect guy style “ribbon”.

I was quite pleased with this and it KILLED me to actually write in it! LOL!

Now onto one of my most favorite sets in the WORLD! Alexa’s Set. In case you have been living under a rock (wink) that is a set that was designed for my daughter by Missy B. All proceeds benefit Pediatric Leukemia and Lymphoma. It was designed based on Alexa’s most cherished toy Groovy Girls. Upon linking that I just realized I need to go shopping. We need more! Alexa only has over 50! And we have yet to get any of the new ones! GASP!

Anyway-so I used this sketch to make a GROOVY Girl card-

groovy girl

I started with the FUNKY cool paper by SEI called Hippie Chick-How PERFECT! So I basically just went with it. colored with my Copic markers, attached some ribbon, and of course a flower! Added the PERFECT sentiment by A Muse and DONE! I really love the Alexa groovy girl image cause you can seriously use her with any funk-tified color combo! I totally love this combo on this, and this layout ROCKS! LOL! Seriously try it.

Now, as always, f you try it out, sendme the link here. Im sure ALL the readers would love to see what YOU do!

Hope you LIKEY!

Dude-Its Saturday Sketch time!

WOW Saturday already! You know what that means-SKETCH time! I LOVE seeing your creations with the sketches. So let me know if you do one, by sending me a link! OK!

I like when we take layers to the END. Not all layers need to have space around all 4 sides. Take it to the edge sometimes!!!!!! Mix it up and make it interesting. With this sketch the possibilities are endless really.

I also LOVE using circles-ALOT.

When I look at this image by The Cat’s Pajama’s I think MOON DOGGY. Im just havin too much fun with these. I have more on my wish list. But a girl has to wait SOMETIMES! Not enough $$$$$ for more right now.

This was obviously heavily inspired by my paper from Junkitz  called Fanciful Flowers. Isn’t it just purty?

Anyway-so I went with it. Colored this with my Copic markers. I have to say they are so worth the money to me. I have any/every color imaginable. BUT I am also into this for the long haul and found it to be helpful in this as a buisness.

Ribbon is by Michaels. Sentiment is by A Muse. I love A Muse sentiments-their font is so fun.

Have you seen the new ones? OMW!

My list-

so many stamps……so little time

For a special teacher-stack of books is a maybe (it does have a coffe cup and I love coffe images too)

stamp shop

baby penguin/igloo ( LOVE penguin images!! no idea why)

partridge tree (Im just hooked on birds and tree images. Love em all)

And that should do it. I dont have A Muse style but think their stuff is ultra cute, as long as I dont try to keep it true A Muse design Im good. Make sense??

Anyway-enjoy the sketch. Have a great day.

MYTIME MAIL

more mail Say it Simply, SS kit Friends and Flowers.

If you wanna win this, respond to this post by telling me what your favorite flower is! I’d also love to hear what your favorite flower stamp set is (if that is possible). The winner will be drawn on Monday!

ALSO dont miss THIS! The winner for that will be drawn tomorrow morning.

My favorite flower is TULIPS! I just love them. Any and every color, they are my favorite to receive.

Favorite Flower set-well as you can tell my my blog banner, my current favorite flower set is  Jolies Fleurs by Lizzie Anne.

I love alot of sets but this has been my favorite for about 2 months.

I am also in love with SU! Garden Whimsy (kinda more like a butterfly set) and Bodacious Bouquet. I have to get Dare to be Fabulous as well.

OK now SKETCH TIME!

Happy Hula

hula happy     sketch 6 click to enlarge sketch thumbnail.

When I saw that All That Scraps got in images from The Cat’s Pajama’s I did my own little “happy dance” Check them out HERE. When this card was being designed that was my thought-HAPPY DANCE!

I HAD to get the hula cat and surfer dog! Why? cause Jason and I got married in Hawaii, and our anniversary is next month! I always make him a beach themed card!

This was last years-last anniversary.

So I decided to do this card for your sketch. Its not Jason’s anniversary card. Just a fun to play card! Its pretty basic, and the simplest embellishments can make it a REAL WOW!

It all started with my patterned paper! I used Basic Grey INFUSE. I wanted it to have a Hawaiian feel, and believe it or not I feel like I got it! I always get the 6×6 pads. I like having a variety of each sheet, but not take up a ton of room and waste money on larger sheets that I will only hoard! LOL!

I then used Brown StazOn for my cat, which is stamped on natural ivory-and colored her in with myCOPIC markers. The oval shadow is by A Muse. Sentiment is my cut up set from SU! called So Many Sayings. Thats working very well BTW!

My cat is layered onto Wild Wasabi cardstock (which amazingly I LOVE), and the base is Groovy Guava! My ribbon is (you guessed it) Martha Stewart! And then it had to have some prima’s!!!!!!!!!! Lets not forget the BLING! My bling is usually by K&co. I swear I wish they sold JUST the green color separately. I also love their other colors and go through ALOT of packs cause its not often that I DON’T use BLING!

NOTE: All the items on this card really do match perfectly I SWEAR! LOL!

So I hope you like my cat card! Im dying to read your responses. The MOTHER responses are killing me!

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with me.

Please send me a link to your sketch if you try it. I love when I help inspire you, and get different takes on it!

Happy Stampin-

Saturday Sketch, Friendship, and a helpful hint.

Where would we be without friends?

I’ll get to that in just a minute.

Today is going to be wonderful! I have a scheduled full body massage at 1pm! Oh how nice that is going to be. I am going to feel so awesome tomorrow, but Sunday my body will HURT! Ever have a massage? Anyway-Im excited.

In the meantime, I hope YOU get time to stamp and try my Saturday Sketch.

I couldn’t resist getting this set by Gel-A-Tins, called BEST FRIENDS. Its seriously cute. I bought like almost every one they sell, and had yet to use them :C So I decided NOW is the time.

When I stamped her I just happened to have the paper from SEI (called Penelope’s Potpourri) sitting next to me after another project was completed. I always think black and red polka-dot dress when I see Mary Jane type of images. I don’t know, she’s just so cute. Anyway-I like that the paper was a slight shade of red lighter, with a red outline/polkadot pattern.

So I layered it then pierced around the layer. I tied some red Martha Stewart ribbon around the black layer, and added to card with dimensionals.

I am seriously on a scalloped punch kick. I cant stop using them. So for this I stamped and colored the girl (with my Copic Markers ) then punched out with my rectangle punch.

Once she was added “something” was missing”. I then thought about this sentiment from  Sassy Sayings, and it was PERFECT!

HINT-if you want to add “something” to your card but are unsure HOW it will look or if will it fit, I like to stamp it on my Stamp-a-ma-jig acetate sheet BEFORE putting it on my card! What this does, is allows you to stamp the image on a “practice” sheet. You then place it where you “think” you will like it, to have a quick LOOK at what may be the finished product. If you dont like it, then you know NOT to stamp it on your card and it wont ruin your hard work! If you do then go forth and ink it up. When done wipe it off your “practice” sheet. This will save you tons of time and ruined creations.

That is exactly what I did with my sentiment. And-obviously I liked it. Now to mail it to a friend.

That brings me back to my original question “Where would we be without friends?”

Friends are an important part of life. I cherish all my friends-weather they have been a friend since a childhood, an adult, or even an internet friend. Each one is special to me. I also enjoy YOU. All my regular visitors and readers! Its hard to believe people actually care to check in on my ramblings of blah, blah blah! LOL! I LOVE getting your feedback, emails and questions as well. So thanks 😀

Along with todays sketch I invite you to share with me a cool, interesting, or funny way you have met one of your friends. Whatever Friend story you care to share would be great.

I have met so many of my cyber friends though the Internet! SCS has been quite the meeting place of amazing people.

As far as a funny, or interesting way, I met a friend-

I went with a friend to my first Pampered Chef Party. The consultant was very nice and funny. It was her first party! She was really nervous.

Anway I agreed to host one for her. She would “touch base” about my upcoming party details and then we’d chat on the phone for hours! Long story short, when my party was done, she said “Oh my gosh! What am I going to do? I have no reason to call you anymore.” I then replied “Well we have become friends, just cause my party is over doesn’t mean we can’t talk anymore!” and that was over 3 years ago.

Funny huh?

Your Turn to share.

Also I’d love to see what you do if you try the sketch, so be sure to link it here so I can see it.

Scalloped Buds

scalloped sketch

So here is your sketch. I didnt have time to make a paint version for you, otherwise at this point it would NEVER get posted! LOL!

With all the new Scalloped punches coming out, and being ALL the rage I figured this would be a great sketch for that purpose!

I got these two stamps from Impress. Click on their NEWSET stamps and you will see Flower Vase, and the Circle Dot bkgd. I have a nice size order I need to put in there! OMW!

Anyway-but idea for this card came from these two stamps, and the velvet flowers I picked up from Maya Road at a craft expo. I also got these pearl center Stamens for my flowers at Impress.

The “thank you” is from Green Grass card greetings (which is discontinued). I TRY NOT to use that set because its not available but cannot help it! I LOVE that set! Tammy if you read this-you know my opinion-you NEED to resurrect that set! LOL!

So that being said I hope YOU decide to resurrect this sketch and give it a try!

Saturday Sketch-Pretty Paper Trey

pt shimmer

Well I know its FRIDAY, but I’m getting my new room ready this weekend (and today we have a day planned on a boat for a day at the Lake) so figured I’d better post early!

I got my ceiling/trim/walls all painted!!! Now I need to get Jason to put the trim around the window, and fix the back wall (still need sheet rock) and I will put together my cabinets!

The other 2 electrical outlets he will do while I pack it all in!

I feel like Im a slave driver missing her whip! LOL! I just want to go,go, go!! Poor Jason he comes home and works on it every night after dinner till 10:30 at night! Now THAT my friends is LOVE! I haven’t even said anything, he just knows ME! Im so lucky. I LOVE the SKY BLUE color on my walls. I can definitely see how it will help my creativity.

My HOPE is for Sunday-but realistically, may be during the week. Depends on how much “I” can help.

Any time my room is clean and well organized ideas just pour out of me. Now I feel a bit in a rut. Too much “clutter” in the process.

So I kept this week’s sketch SIMPLE! I also feel many people don’t layer images at the bottom-ever really. It can be very pretty. So I hope you will try it.

I was inspired by my Simple Sunflower card.

Oh yes back to the sketch! Sorry about my insane ramble!

I used the new Paper Trey set called Text Boxed for th e flower. It was stamped in CRAFT black ink, then embossed with iridescent ice embossing powder.

I colored the image with my twinkling h2o’s (love them). This BLING is simple but impacts the card alot. Stamped the smaller sunflower image in the center with black, then added a bling to the center.

Tied around some wirde organdy ribbon, anf then stamped my sentiment from Green Thumb.

I used my Martha Stewart cardstock on this. Just can’t stop using her stuff either.

Enjoy the weekend.

Sketch time! Challenge yourself to layering a little more! Patterned paper comes in handy for this layout.

This little card is to cute and so boy to me! The stamps are from Lizzie Anne Designs. I used Loads of Fun from the Simply Bits collection. Just colored with my markers. The x border is fron the Shapes and Stitches set.

I think its a fun layout for those tags you may have been neglecting. I recently got the Making Memories tag maker and dont want it to be a wasted purchase! LOL! I seriously do love it!

I bought these screw type brads at Oriental Trading YEARS ago.

The patterned paper is by Imaginesce. Its originally black and white. I have used it on some other cards here. I brayered summer sun onto it! I think it now looks like CAUTION stripes! LOL!

I love the stitched ribbon as well.

So I hope you find the time to play along and link it here.

Link you scs gallery here too so I know you played along! Id love to see YOUR take!

This was a new sketch this week, so I hope you enjoy it!

2sketch

OK so its not a fabulous job on it- but time was ticking. I have a ton to do over the next few days. All the info I had ready to go,got deleted, as did my SCS Pm’s so if you need something please re-contact me. That being said I had to re-do many things and dont have too much time.

I was SOOOO bombarded with emails from people DYING to know when my blog was going to be back up-I feel truly loved! LOL!

So here is my card for my sketch.

baby

I didn‘t use an OLD sketch so figured we’d start a new! I do have another card to upload in a couple of days using this sketch as well, with a NEW Release set from My Favorite Things Stamps-so stay tuned. The 13th is its release date, so thats when I will post my sketch inspired creation. She actually has 2 sets ready to go that day, then another on the 15th! WAHOOOOO!

OK so the card-

I found some SUPER cute $1 stamps at Michaels that were irresistible! The Preggo Girl was one of them. Isnt she cute. This will be going to a friend of mine who I was meaning to send a YEAH! You did it-literally! LOL!

I stamper her on Blush Blossom and colored with Prismacolor Markers.

The Patterend Paper is from my LSS and I ahve NO CLUE who makes it-sorry!

So I used the cuttlebug mini embossing folders, on vellum cardstock for the accent WAHOO!!!

New Primas and brads for a little extra. Hope she likes it. Looks just like my friend!

I loved these new stamps SO much I decided to use my 3 faves as MYTIME MAIL!

giveaway

All you have to do to enter is reply with a memorable story from either your pregnancy, birth, a baby moment-whatever!

If you dont have kids then you can respond with a funny story about YOU as a kid or a kid you know!

I will randomly select a winner on the 15th!

I would like to share a FAVORITE quote I heard recently that I think ANY mom can relate to

“I was a much better mother before I became one”

Isnt that hilarious! I think we can all relate! I would love to hear about things you said you’d never do BEFORE kids, that you have done!

Here are my stories-

Baby Story-

I was in Walmart, and a Greeter (old woman) complimented on how gorgeous Amber was. She added the slap to the face when she said ” What a gorgeous baby. Too bad you are covering her beautiful face with the disgusting sucker in her mouth (aka her binki). Im sure she’ll be oh so thankful for her buck teeth when she has braces in her teens”

I went postal on the woman. I was like “Hey who the H&#L asked your for your ____ing opinion. Do you even have children? and I went on to say many things about the woman that I am unable to type here. WOW! Totally hormonal moment.

I was a better mother before story-

I swore I would never feed my kids fast food, like McDonalds. Now I bribe them with it! LOL!

There are many things on that list let me tell you.

Ok now its your turn.
