Today was a beautiful (HOT!) day here in NH! We haven’t had many of those this year.
I took the kids to a really cool sprinkler park for the first time today in Derry NH! My friend Lisa told me about it, so we got the kids together and made a day of it.
It was SUPER cool and FREE! Now that is a great day trip 😀 I just brought drinks, watermelon cubes, grapes and snap peas-and we called it a day!
Today was one of those days that you TRULY enjoy being a mom and love every second with your children. You realized how fast time passes and how blessed you are to have them 😀
Here are some cool photos highlighting our day:
My 3 little monkeys
Girls striking a pose (makes me wish I had a sister growing up)
Photos of Noah
Now he starts to get into the sprinklers
We had to leave because his lips were getting BLUE! LOL!
The water was chilly (Alexa is doing her best to hide her face :D)
but refreshing….(now Amber is hiding!)
Now we have lil Amber
She did her best to NOT get wet! LOL! At first!
But that didn’t work so well
Before you knew it her and Alexa were dancing in the “rain”
Alexa just ran and ran all day, in the water
She had a BLAST too
Sadly she is very sensitive to sunscreen near her eyes. We have a tearless kids sport one, but it still usually burns her eyes. So you can SORT of see, she got burned right UNDER her eyes where the sun screen WASN’T! It would have been too close to her eyes if I put it literally right under. Go figure she’s get a burn right there! Her skin is SOOOO sensitive!
Oh to be a kid again.! We were out in the sun a whopping 4 hours. I was EXHAUSTED! (and mommy remembered to apply and reapply sunscreen to the kids, and NOT herself! LOL! SO I am BURNED! OUCH!) I came home and took a nap. As I type they are dancing and singing in the living room, running around in circles! Can anyone tell me WHY, with all the technology we have these days, they CAN’T figure out WHAT it is that gives kids this kind of energy, and put THAT in my coffee!?!
In all seriousness there are no words to say how much I enjoy days like this. Seeing my kids happy, HEALTHY and free spirited, running through the water. Living a “normal” life again. Days like this I often thought may never be.
I swear I never take a single second for granted.
How blessed I am.

Looks like you guys had a wonderful time. I read your post and saw at the bottom “How Blessed I am!” I was feeling kind of down tonight about Ethan and his birthday this week and I had to go to the store to get something and on the way home the song came on “I am so Blessed”….I guess GOD was trying to tell me something that even though I don’t have him here to hold I can still feel blessed to have had Ethan in our life! So glad you are enjoying every minute of your summer….that’s what life is all about!
What fun! WHat is it with kids and water anyway?? It’s just too much fun!
Not sure what it is about kids & water, but is sure seems to give them extra energy. Looks like you guys had a blast out there even though you got sunburned. Sometimes sunscreen just doesn’t help, does it?
What wonderful pictures thanks for sharing them!
Hi Kiddo! Too cute and too funny! We have a Spray Park here too and we were just there Saturday! (Well, I wasn’t there but DH and the wee-one were). I wish we had one of these when I was a kid! Sorry you got burnt – why do we always forget ourselves?
I love the pictures… They have grown up so much since I first ‘met’ them.
We’ll chat soon!
Hugs and love,
Renee
Lauren — beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing them. You’ve totally captured their experience here…perfect! That park looks like a ton of fun, and ITA on the find what makes them go, and put it in my coffee, LOL… it really is amazing, isn’t it? {{{HUGS}}} 🙂
These pics are fantastic! I never really loved being outside on the beach etc but this year with the kids we have been much more than ever. The sunscreen thing is hard I’m always freaked out they don’t have enough on and will get burned. Try and pick up one of those sunscreen sticks to use under her eyes maybe that will help.
All the best!
They look like they are having sooooo much fun. This doesn’t help any but I cannot wear sunscreen on my face or any product with sunscreen it in, my eyes swell, itch and I look like I have a really bad sun burn in spots, can put sunscreen on rest of body and doesn’t bother me. I am fair with blonde hair, so I really don’t go out in sun much.
Enjoy your children now, which you are, they grow up so fast.
Looks like you had an awesome time! 🙂 I am sorry for Miss Alexa though…it looks to not have phased her too much! 🙂 Beautiful pics! 🙂
I don’t even know you & your pictures brought me joy! Knowing (well, reading!) all you guys have been through, & now seeing how Alexa looks so fantastic & seeing her playing & having fun is so awesome! Your kids are beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Our God is an awesome God!
Hope Jay is feeling better, too!
PS…You’re right. I’ve always said that it’s a cruel joke that our kids’ energy is not proportionate to ours as parents!
Your angel’s are preciously adorable .. thanks for sharing .. looks like a great day had by all!! Great smiles!!
Hi Lauren..
It sure was a Beautiful Day here in Vermont too 🙂
Great Pictures…Looks like the kids had a Wonderful

are getting better..Take Care!

Lauren,
Great photos of the day! Everyone is looking wonderful.
A sunscreen that I’ve found works well for my two (VERY fair, if you remember) girls is Aveeno Continuous Protection Face SPF 70 (in an orange/tan/brown tube). I’m also planning to try Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral sunscreen (from Sephora) which is a powder that you put on. Thought it would help with our oily skin problems here, but I haven’t tried it yet.
Fun pictures! So nice to see smiles and their wet faces! Glad you had a great time!
Funny…we just did something similar yesterday…and yes, I put sunscreen on the kids and NOT me!! LOL I’m feeling the burn!
Have you tried a hat for Alexa? That may help with keeping the sun off her cheeks.

I love these kinds of days with my kids too. Your pictures are just fantastic.
Have you tried a stick sunscreen for Alexa’s face near her eyes? We used to use the Waterbabies stick on the kids faces, but I just found a neutrogena sunscreen stick for faces- it is a small oval shape which may allow you to get it just a little closer to Alexa’s eye area without getting it too close. It goes on gentler than the Waterbabies and did not irritate my sensitive skin. I found it at Toy’s R Us, but I’m sure you can find it at a drugstore. It’s only spf 30, but that’s better than nothing.
Another idea may be to try the colored zinc that lifeguards wear. It may not have the added ingredients that irritate Alexa’s skin (unless the zinc itself will bother her) and the bright colors make it fun.
If all else fails, Lacey’s idea for a hat is probably the best option. How about a fun foam sunvisor? A fun foam visor would stay on even in the sprinkler and the water wouldn’t bother it, either. Alexa could even decorate it herself. (or OF COURSE you could stamp on it…lol)
Lauren,
Abby is sensitive to sunscreen too. We have to get Aveeno baby or Melaluca (sp?) an all natural type. I recommend either of these!! Abby has done great with hem!! HUGS!
Lauren I love reading your blog and learning about your beautiful family and your great projects. You have a way of reminding people not to stress the small things in life and appreciate everything you have. Thank you!!!!
I love how you bring a bit of everyday life in with your stamping and projects. So refreshing and I love those beautiful faces!
I’ve never heard of the park in Derry, I’ll have to check it out. I’m sure next year it will be perfect for me to take my nephew to!!!
Ii just love having days like the one you had with my kids. We did water parks often when they were smaller and I just loved it!! The beach has been an endless source of joy for me this summer, watching them play in the sand, make sand castles, swim in the ocean etc. They grow up waaaay too quickly and I too treasure these amazing moments in my heart. Great pictures too 😀
Lauren I know you don’t have time for more internet stuff but you need to get a Facebook account! Then you can link your blog to your notes page and it will appear there automatically. Then I can read everything you post, right on my wall!!! 😀
Looks like a lovely and fun day. If you ever find the trick to put in the coffee please let me know – I sleep for hours everytime I have my GS over due to all the activities we make together.
