I LOVE butterflies! Can you tell?

I just got this gorgeous stamp set called Bella Brush by Fancy Pants.

I also got the Baby Girl patterned paper and matching flowers by Prima. I am in heaven.

I thought the 118 sketch challenge today was a perfect opportunity to use my new goods.

I decided to change it up a bit, and make the front a flap that opens. The paper was just too pretty on both sides to waste and butcher. So the prima holds it closed. I wanted the look to remain soft, so I chose ti use my favorite StazOn and shimmery pastels technique. The layer is attached with glue dots so you cannot see them. I just thought it was so soft and pretty.

The inside, I traced select butterflies with a Sakura glitter pen. Subtle and elegant. The strips of paper are by doodlebug. Cute touch I thought.

I have no idea who is getting this but I had fun.

Well I had to make one more using my Butterfly Kisses set. I just love it!

For this one I again used my Prima Baby Girl paper, and mauve mist! Go figure.

I love this layout 😀

papertrey

The card is mainly the paper, and not much stamping but still really pretty. The butterfly is stamped in Brilliance ink, on vellum cardstock-love that stuff. Cut out, than attached with a glue dot.

The ribbon is velevet ric rac by May Arts.

I made this one for a friend I have been thinking about. Hopefully I get it to the post-office before our trip! 😛

xbox

Beth (MyPrecious) alerted me to a little boy Dylan she knows who has been diagnosed with Leukemia. She posted a request found here, for people to RAK him with cards! You can also find his story there as well.

How could I not send a card? I make ton to sit in a storage box, why not one to actually send to a special child?

I hope you will join me in this. Dust off a boy set, or any set really and lets RAK him! I know first hand the joy a simple handmade card can bring. Alexa has received hundreds! Probably even a thousand if I counted.

Now about the card-You guessed it Lizzie Anne Designs All Guy  (btw no I don’t design for her-I saw the banner ad she had on SCS and bought 3 sets!LOL! Im just really likin her style)

So if you are wondering what all the jumbled letters are in the background you obviously don’t have an XBOX addicted 4 yo boy like I do. To do most of the fighting you have letter combos -like xxyab for example! LOL! Thats how I did the background!

I used a Library stamp from ProvoCraft for that. Made it quick to do the combos. I looked at the controller, and copied the button arrangement. Alphabits by SU! were for the round buttons on the side panel.  See there is more thought to this simple card that you thought huh?

I used A Muse candy for the buttons. I was pretty happy with this, and hope Dylan likes it. It is like a video game so whats not to like right?

YEAH! This is to celebrate 2 years of color challenges. Check it out!

So to celebrate Emily asked if we would make a card for Daven’s birthday with color challenge one of 108. Here is my submission.

daven

This is for Daven. He is the MAIN MAN! The creator and king of Splitcoaststampers! Happy Birthday Daven! I thought this card was SO PERFECT for him.

I just got this awesome All Guy stamp set by Lizzie Anne Designs yesterday. Perfect timing. I am on a mission to expand my guy sets. I’m having fun with this one.

Color challenge was Kraft, red & black. Ill admit the Kraft threw me off a bit, but hey thats why its a challenge right? I stamped the computer in caramel on glossy white. Colored the screen with my makers. Love coloring on glossy white with markers lately.

Ribbon is from Jody’s share (big surprise right?).

For Beate- Funky Flower Trio

beate

This is the second color challenge. Use Pretty in Pink, Bravo Burgundy, and  Always Artichoke. Since I had the Kraft, from making Daven’s card, I decided to use it for Beate’s card.

I went with Craft ink, and glossy white cardstock. In the above colors & white craft ink as well.

Stamps are also from Lizzy Anne Designs Funky Floral . Love that set too.

Ribbon-again from Jody! Jewels in the center of flowers are by A Muse.

Fore Your Birthday!

Another Guy card-

fore

Yet another guy card. This one also uses the All Guy  set by Lizzie Anne. I’m just havin fun with it.

When I saw this “golf” image all I thought of was the argyle, and making my own ball! So I did. I used my cuttlebug Tiny Bubbles embossing folder, and a circle punch for the ball. Cut huh?

The paper/notecard is by A Muse. Colored with SU markers. Flag is a piece or red cardstock cut out/layered.

Ribbon is from Jody, and is May Arts stitched ribbon.

Motorcycle in motion-yet another guy card!

motorcycle

OK another guy card! Its sort of fun to use non flower images once in a while! LOL!

So I used the “Donna” technique to make this motorcylce look like its zoomin across the card. Its another from the All Guy  set by Lizzie Anne. I thought the stitched ribbon looked like a road! LOL!

I just got these rub on’s by Basic Grey- Wholy Cow?? I don’t know check Jacksonbelles ebay store!

Anyway, when I saw the ‘batteries not included” I thought it was perfect. the Guy stuff is stamped twice. Hope you likey! These were so fun! Now you know where I’ve been! LOL!

A Muse

Apr 3, 2007

So here a just a few samples with my A Muse goodies. I *LOVE* A Muse stamps and note-cards. Lets not forget May Arts Polka Dot ribbon. The only problem I have is keeping it simple! That is the A Muse way! LOL! So these are my attempts at “simple”

I love this one!

bunny

This stamp is called Bunny Line. Isn’t it cute?

It uses the cottage green pinwheel note-card. White may arts ribbon.

I stamped the bunnies in black then colored with pink, and gray markers.

I cut the one bunny out, and layered him over the original. The sentiment is from Love ya bunches by SU!

 Hay Thanks-

hay thanks

Is this not cute? I used the Limepeel band notecard for my “grass”. The ‘hay” sentiment is rough edges alpha, and the thanks is Tiny Talk by SU! I used the “chicks in a row” from A Muse, and it is stamped on an acetate sheet in black StazOn. I colored the back with colorbox chalk ink, and a  blender pen. Glue dots behind the chick hold it onto the A Muse notecard.

Stamped the tractor, and hay wagon in black as well. Colored in. The Hay is stamped on saffron cardstock then cut and on dimensionals for fun!

I thought this was cute-but feels like its missing “something”. But trying to keep it simple, so I left it alone!

Hen’s Night Out

hens night

I love this little hen! I used my cuttlebug scalloped die to make this.

The hen is stamped in black. A Singlo white gel pen was used to color her in. I used a yellow glitter pen for her beak, and feet. Isn’t she cute?

Ribbon is May Arts.

Hen’s Night Out sentiment is my Missy B Designs.

So what do you think?

Who on earth would ever combine paper-crafting supplies, and power tools?

Well a man of course!

Everyone knows I am addicted to ribbon. Its the best embellishment-ever. I join every ribbon share Jodyhas. So I got this GORGEOUS share of May Arts ribbon. A $100 worth to be exact. Now my dilemma was I needed to wrap ALL those bundles of ribbon. So, I got these cool Fiber cards to organize it all!

So Saturday night. What does a married couple with three kids do-invite over our newly married friends for a little entertainment. The decision was to watch a movie (I know we aren’t very exciting, but we did have Pina Colada’s!).

So, I figured heck I’m not wasting a minute. I have ALL this ribbon I can wrap while I watch the movie. As I sit there wrapping, my supah sweet hubby say’s “Give me some and I’ll help you” (sweet huh?). Then our friends Sean & Jenny pitch in too! There we are all wrapping my ribbon! A real site let me tell you.

Well my thumbs, index, and middle fingers start to go numb from wrapping. The guys quit and agree this is a suck job, and there must be an easier way. I keep wrapping for another hour.

Then it hit them! POWER-DRILL!

Sean (Jay’s best friend as seen in photos) says “What if we had a dowel and a drill? I bet it would wind fast.” No dowel-no luck.

Jason runs and get the drill cause he remembers there are these “grasps” on it.

So they stick my fiber card in the grippers, and push the power button.

sean2

The ribbon starts to neatly spool onto the card, and its done in like 20 seconds!

Why they couldn’t have come up with that like and hour and a half ago?!! I was shocked! So here came the photos! I thought everyone needs to see this!

So here you have it. Power tools and paper-crafting really can coexist. Leave it to a man!

done

My Mom

Apr 2, 2007

mom swing

Here is my mom!

We are at her house celebrating Easter and her birthday. The kids had alot of fun on the egg hunt.

She loved her cake :D. Yeah! Mission accomplished. It tasted good too. We really need to have more family gatherings I think.

cake1

Here it is! This is what took me most of yesterday!

This morning we are going to my mother’s to celebrate Easter & her birthday. When I took cake decorating classes a few months ago her question was “Will you be able to make a Pansy cake?” I said I don’t know we will see. Now she has forgotten her request (or at least hasn’t mentioned it) so I hope to surprise her.

Why yellow frosting?

Well that is a question I am asking myself! LOL! I saw a cake like this in a book, and it had the yellow frosting. This is my CASE attempt. While Im not crazy about the yellow frosting on the cake I really think I did a good job considering I self taught myself the leaves and pansy’s (missed the last class!). This is only my second cake after taking classes!

I think my mom would love it reguardless. As mother’s don’t we love every “masterpiece” our child creates?

TOMORROW

Stay tuned tomorrow! I have something cool to share that Jason’t friend Sean came up with for winding ribbon! You aren’t going to believe what a bunch of guy were doing last night! LOL!

Great for all you who participate in ribbon shares or buy by the yard. SERIOUSLY AMAZING STUFF!

Saturday Sketch!

Mar 31, 2007

poppy trio

Who is up for a weekend Sketch? ME! ME!

So I figured I would start a weekly challenge here on my blog. Now I have added this ti the list of growing categories.

Saturdays are usually “slow” days, and I wanna get challenged again. A little inspiration never hurt anyone right? I love the sketch challenge every Wednesday at SCS, and sometimes need more inspiration by the weekend.

Well, I made a sketch book a month or so ago, and put all my favorite sketches that I designed in there. Figured I should probally USE them. Especially since I loved them to begin with. So each week I’ll be here casing myself. Pretty fun actually. Makes stamping go much faster too, since I already have my layout planned.

So, to not only inspire myself, but you as well, figured I’d share them with you each week. I hope this will get you stamping! You can do it anytime through the week, and feel free to link your creation back here if you want.

This was one of my favorite layouts. Here is the original design.

For this card I used my new Poppy Stems stamp by Stampendous. The paper was my inspiration. Its by Paper Salon. Again-bought at eP! I have a love hate relationship with their store- I love it, but my pocketbook hates it! LOL!

The scalloped circle punch is from All That Scraps. The poppy image was stamped on GLOSSY white, in black stazon, then colored with markers. You must try that! You get such vibrant color from it.

And that is pretty much it.

I have a busy weekend here. Preparing for Disney, design calls with deadlines (not complaining about that).

Noah has T-ball tryouts!

I have to go shopping (big surprise right), girl needs to look good for Disney. Want matching outfits for my girls. Can yo say Disney store! Love that place.

I want to put my cake decorating classes to good use, and make my mom her birthday cake. We will see if I actually accomplish that. She wants Pansy’s. If I do it, Ill post it here tomorrow. Plus need to make up her Easter Basket. I also wanted to make her 4 glass coasters but I think that may end up waiting for Mothers Day.

Boil eggs since we are doing our Easter tomorrow. Big egg hunt at my mom’s.

Should be fun and exhausting! How will I ever get it all done?

Happy Saturday!
