Hi everyone!

Thanks for joining me for my Papertrey Ink Newsletter Post!

I have to admit I was pretty TAPPED for ideas. So I went to Michaels and browsed the ENTIRE store, to find something FUN AND NEW to share! I get bored easy, in case you can’t tell! LOL! I love trying new things, and every so often I find something extra cool.

So, that being said I hope you like what I came up with 😀 I really enjoy expanding my uses for my stamps!

There really are so many ways they can be used! This is just ONE more!

real-close-plate.JPG

This is a dinner plate (I created a matching set of 4) with a candle holder-as seen in the photo.

How about using your stamps as stencils for making decorative glass gifts?!

I made a video to show you just how easy this really is!

So grab some coffee and get planning on making some affordable painted glass items-no art lessons needed!

This is a photo of the finished candle holder. More photos can be seen in the video!

vase-dots.JPG

Now more on what you need to make your own painted glass gift items!

Obviously something GLASS, that YOU want to decorate.

Stamp set of choice.

I found (in the paint/stencil) section-some marker/pens that are meant to be use on glass and ceramics!

get-pain-pen.JPG

They are by Vitrea 160-cost $2.99 each, and come in a large variety of colors! You can get opaque or transparent colors.

Follow instructions for use on package!

Well I thought they looked SUPER cool, but my problem-I can’t paint or draw a simple stick figure to save my life!!

While there in the store they had stencils and stuff too. I thought-well I have stamped ON GLASS, why not use a stamped image as a stencil with my markers?!

Now I didn’t want to TRACE. I wanted a fun, new look! So I went with dots! Fun, easy and no stress if you drank too much coffee 😀

I used Beautiful Blooms for my project! You can use whatever you wish.

plate-set.JPG

Step 1:

Clean your glass with glass cleaner. If using something that needs to be centered-Mark center on back with eclipse tape.

clean-glass.JPG

Step 2:

Stamp you image onto cardstock/copy paper-cut to size.

stamp-pattern.JPG

Step 3

Layer stamped paper where needed. Lay your plate or other item over stamped image.

Mark dots on flower center, and outer petals first!

make-dots.JPG

Step 4

Count number of dots on each petal to ensure even spacing and nice even look on project!

step-one.JPG

Repeat for leaves, and flower centers-using green marker!

Take out your stamp stencil and VIOLA!

This is the completed plate

stencil-removed-dots-done.JPG

Not too shabby for a newbie glass painter, now is it?!

I have to admit, it was very fun to make this. I wil wrap up the set with a pretty bow and tag to match. Should be a nice gift for someone, right?

I especially like that I don’t have to be a true ARTIST to pain on glass now! I have stamps for that 😀

Well thanks for stopping by!

I hope you enjoyed the video, and visual tutorial for those who need it 😀

Thanks for stopping by

HOLY MOLY am I exhausted! I know-WHO CARES!!

(on a side note I HAVE to share that Alexa has hit her 2 year post-chemo (remission) marker! Now we go every other month for check ups! But she has to have her port-a-cath flushed monthly still> Im excited and scared to death all at the same time. Talk about emotionally draining)

TONIGHT is THE night!! Papertrey Ink has their release! I’m so excited 😀 I hope to see you tonight 😀 I’ll be back later to share my Papertrey Ink newsletter project too.

I also hope you have enjoyed the peeks I have shared here this week using My Timeless Templates 😀 Each one is labor of LOVE! I have to say they do inspire lots of great gift ideas 😀

Speaking of ideas………………I have 2 more samples to share till the BIG DAY! When YOU can buy your newest My Timeless Templates : Let’s Do Lunch and Ready, Set, Wrap!

So without further delay……………..I have samples for a girly event, and boy themed too!

Are you looking for something ELEGANT? Maybe a Wedding gift, of favor?

Well you just might LOVE this!

Using Ready, Set Wrap!

acetate-wrap.JPG

Seriously-how stunning is that?

It was exactly as I had envisioned it to be in my head.

I filled this with Raspberry Dove chocolates, but truffles or wedding cake would be darling in here too! Any favor item actually. OH! How about a Cinderella Slipper for a Fairy Tale themed princess party!! OH BOY! Maybe a piece of jewelry?? This list goes on and on.

I printed my template onto copy paper. I then used the Clearly Creative Cardstock, and cut out/scored my template.

swirl-detail.JPG

I stamped my Fancy Flourishesonto the front, and side panels using white StazOn. Using glue dots I added Prima Hydrangea flowers, with adhesive rhinestone centers.

swirly-ace-detail.JPG

I added a shimmery white cardstock panel to the bottom inside, then a scallop rectangle bottom to the bottom of the assembled template.

wrap-ace-side.JPG

Tied the top with a Satin ribbon to match.

I think this is just gorgeous!

Supplies:

My Timeless Template: Ready, Set, Wrap!
Stamps: Fancy Flourishes
Cardstock: Acetate, shimmery white, Raspberry Fizz
Ink: White StazOn
Ribbon: Satin Raspberry Fizz
Other: Prima flowers, adhesive rhinestones
Scallop nestabilities

OK moving on to an entirely different direction…..BOY!

Owly-a gift for a boy!

owl-box-tree.JPG

MANY of you have boys out there! I’m with you. Many of you ask me WHY I don’t make ANY boy samples using my templates?!  Well, I heard ya. Its not that I CAN’T do boy stuff, I just find GIRL stuff so much more fun, easy and pretty 😀

So that being said- I made a boy gift. I used Let’s Do Lunch for this one .

I used a paint can handle, and large eyelets for the handle.

I LOVE Wise Owl 😀 so I made my own patterned paper using Guidelines 2 cardstock with the owl and bellies 😀 I think its super cute. You can’t see that each row of owls is colored differently-but thats OK

owl-close.JPG

I added the sentiment to a button center, and covered it with a page pebble.

It is held closed with buckles-from a hodge podge hardware kit I had.

Just unbuckle the ribbon-

Now INSIDE……………

owl-open.png

I added a notebook, some crayons-

crayon-up.JPG

which I designed my own box for, as well as a “office” set I got a Michaels Craft Store for $1!

I shared a peek of this during the Blog Hop

This was my concept sample when I created the template. The concept samples are the finished template idea samples, that go to Nichole for approval 😀

This is the back

back-ready-set-wrap.JPG

This is the side

yet-another-side.JPG

This one was so cool and retro!

yes, like many said-almost like a bowlers bag 😀

No matter what it reminds you of-its cute, fun and has so many possibilities 😀

I cannot tell you how much I adore this specific template. It took quite some time getting the idea to work, but in the end I am so happy with the result.

Alrighty-that is all for me for now.

Thanks for stopping by

Now for more peeks be sure to check out   Nicholes blog, Becky, Melissa, Lisa and Candice.

😀 See ya later!

One of the best gifts to give is bath and body products!!

I LOVE packaging these items because:

1) They are fun-and generally pretty

2) They look awesome in my templates :D)

3) They really dress up a simple, and inexpensive. yet thoughtful gift

4) EVERYONE loves to smell good (right?)

5) SAVES YOU MONEY!

Seriously, you can spend SO MUCH (or so much MORE) when you get a bath set already wrapped up in something somewhat “fancy”. They KNOW that presentation is EVERYTHING! I could say that till I’m BLUE in the face, but think about it!

WHAT attracts you to certain things? OK basically everything in life-is the advertisement!

The packaging of a product, the store sign, the advertisement logo or jingle! Its all about presenting something in a attractive way. Even when you go for a job interview. You try to look your best, right? People notice that stuff, and as far as advertising its all in your subconscious but it totally works.

Today I will show you how you can use BOTH templates from this months release to make a great gift set for UNDER $12!! Actually, you can obviously get even less expensive stuff and do it for far less, but this is what my sets would cost.

Now I did MORE of making my own patterned paper.  Both gift sets use my newest template releases

Let’s Do Lunch and Ready, Set Wrap!

I’m totally in LOVE with both for very different reasons.

I thought I would show you SIMILAR designs using both templates, and packaging the same items too, so you can see just how cute they BOTH are!

I used Everyday Classics (the anniversary set, not available for purchase :C SORRY!) to make my OWN patterned papers. If you can’t tell I’m LOVING that these days, and saving myself from BUYING paper too 😀 Use what you have! Making your own patterned paper is taking you BACK to the BASICS!

OK first up-Ready, Set, Wrap!

wrap-apprec.JPG

I needed a QUICK gift for Amber’s dance teacher.

I used Berry Sorbet, Melon Berry, Sweet Blush, and Spring Moss with Ripe Avocado ink for these colors-stamped onto vintage cream.

I added little pearls to the flower centers.

Side view

wrap-side-appre.JPG

I LOVE the look.

Now this template comes with the decorative curved layer.

I used my technique for making an additional mat layer. As seen in this video

I hope this video is helpful for you to try even more layering options, for those of you who love lots of layers! Now you don’t need to be intimidated to try it.

Now for the tag-

wrap-tag.JPG

I love the touch of this flower I punched/layered to be like what I thought this flower would look like in 3D form!

It was a quick and simple touch, but I felt it really made the gift a WOW! Amber signed her name to the back (I was very tight on time and didn’t make a card! GASP!)

Now here is what is inside

in-wrap.JPG

These are aromatherapy body wash/body lotion from Bath & Body Works.

I just laid them down, side by side, and they were a perfect fit.

soaps-in-wrap.JPG

I then just folded in the sides, and Amber was off to dance rehearsal with a pretty and easy gift for her teacher!

Supplies:

My Timeless Template: Ready, Set, Wrap!

Stamps: Everyday Classics, Mega Mixed Messages, Garden of Life

Cardstock: Sweet Blush , Berry Sorbet, Melon Berry, Vintage Cream, Spring Moss, Vellum cardstock, Bitty Dots 2008

Ink: Berry Sorbet, Melon Berry, Spring Moss, Ripe Avocado

Ribbon: Ripe avocado

Other: Flower punch, butterfly punhc, adhesive pearls, tag punch

Now we move on to another gift-using Let’s Do Lunch!

box-o-kind.JPG

I used the same stamp set:Everyday Classics in Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, River Rock, and Ocean Tides for this paper creation.

I love the colors in this.

I am using no handle. No fancy closure. This is presenting as just a gift box! Now imagine it on a desk somewhere?! Love it.

I went to Bath & Body Works and purchased some small body wash/body lotions for about $5 each. You could totally catch a SALE and stock up, but I bought full price.

The Sea Island Cotton is my FAVORITE!! So I went with that for this box.

cotton-set.JPG

There are two in this gift set. Just a nice, simple gift.

Now for the detail flower on the ribbon-just like the other creation above.

flower-detail.JPG

You can fit 4 of the small size body wash/lotions in the Let’s Do Lunch template! But for today I used 2.

bath-insdue-blue.JPG

I had some really pretty tulle to set inside.

If you laid them side by side-4 would fit.

Seriously look how pretty and elegant these are-without TONS of work or MONEY invested!

Supplies:

My Timeless Template: Let’s Do Lunch

Stamps: Everyday Classics

Cardstock: Vintage Cream, River Rock, Blue Bayou

Ink: River Rock, Vintage Cream, Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, Ocean Tides

Ribbon: SU! Blue Bayou

Flower punch, adhesive pearls

So that is my fun peek for today! I have so much more to share, but need to get my other projects done!

Tomorrow is another day 😀

I hope you like seeing the same idea for the 2 separate templates. I had fun with this one.

Thanks for stopping by.

Now for more peeks be sure to check out   Nicholes blog, Michelle, Melissa, Lisa and Candice.

Hi everyone! If you are tuning in Happy Mother’s Day!!

I’ll share more on that at the end!

Today is day one, of a jam packed post, filled with excitement! AS ALWAYS :D)

As you know the Papertrey Ink countdown is here, and I always GUSH each month over and over at how excited I am. I know it may get old, but I REALLY am. Each month I fall in love the newest releases, and latest and greatest templates! Plus it makes me get a head start on my gifts.

I now get to FINALLY share a peek at my newest Timeless Template  called Ready, Set, Wrap!

This one is SOOOOO cool and fun. Seriously.  It is so super adorable, fun and easy to make TONS of gifts for just about anyone you can imagine. Perfect size for SO many treats.

READY, SET, WRAP!

Looking for the perfect way to WRAP up something? Then this is the template for you!Ready, Set Wrap! will have you whipping out the perfect packaging for every occasion! Use it as a party favors or a fun project with the kids too. This is just the cutest box you could ever make! Perfect for that special something you want “un”wrapped in a fun way!The curves of this fun box will have the receiver in complete awe! You will be amazed at how fast this one comes together.

Go get READY, get SET-WRAP something special!

I also get to give you a peek at a NEW! stamp set called Bird Watching from Papertrey Ink.

NOTE: These items will not be released until the 15th D

Today I am sharing a video that will HOPEFULLY help you  maximize the use of your stamps, and view them in a whole new way, save you MONEY, and add great embellishments to those My Timeless Template gifts you create for EVERYONE!!

This video shows you how EASY it is to use your stamps to make your OWN chipboard embellishments!!

SOOOOOO, the focus of my tutorial today used a large bird from Bird Watching.

When I saw Bird Watching I fell in love. I immediately KNEW it had to be by Melissa Bickford! I LOVE her stuff!! LOVE!

I knew the bird would make the CUTEST Keychain toggle for my Ready, Set, Wrap! template.

chippy-close.JPG

I like to use lightweight coasters for my projects. Usually you get 20 coasters for $2.00. That is ONLY 0.10 CENTS each-and you can get several images per coaster-HELLO!!! So affordable!

If you were to PURCHASE chipboard pieces or stickers, they would cost upwards of several dollars with only a few in each package-and NOT always in your color scheme! Now you can use images you already purchased for your projects instead.

Now you can use your STAMPS and make you own in MINUTES! AND it will MATCH any project! (like you needed another excuse to BUY MORE STAMPS?! :O)

Plus, lets face it, these chipboard pieces not only add a fun element, but dimension and interest to everything you put them on as well. Remember its the LITTLE details.

chippy-3.JPG

Sentiment reads: You’re so very tweet

Don’t you LOVE the chipboard bird addition to this project?! Perfect!

Now I got the little keychain toggle thingy from Michaels Craft store. They are in the back in the LEATHER section. 20 chains for $2! Not too shabby 😀

The cardstock is amethyst. I used Dark Chocolate Bitty Dots 2008 collection for this. I colored in the dots on the paper to match my project-so they are amethyst dots 😀 LOVE IT!

I began my project using my Inspiration Challenge—>HERE It was just what I needed to get started.

My felt flowers were made by me 😀 I die cut them from felt. Watch my video —-> HERE Button is from Vintage Buttons

I used the Cuttlebug Flowers #1 die for the flower, and another cuttlebug flower bundle die for the leaves.

Now to un-wrap it

fold-in-side-1.JPG

Slide off one side, then the other………………..

You’ll get the idea, as I share more ideas throughout the week 😀

Supplies:

My Timeless Template: Ready, Set, Wrap!

Stamps: Bird Watching/Additions

Cardstock: PTI Dark Chocolate, Almost Amethyst

Patterned Paper: Bitty Dots 2008 Collection

Ink: Dark Chocolate

Copic Markers: BV00

Vintage Buttons in New Leaf

Punch: Small oval by SU!

Other: Lightweight coaster board, eyelet, key chain toggle, Felt, Cuttlebug Flowers #1 die 2X6 Flower Bundle, crop-a-dile, hobby blade, sm corner rounder

Now for more peeks be sure to check out Kelly’s blog for another template peek, as well as  Nicholes blog, Melissa, Lisa and Candice.

I am spending the day baking cookies from scratch with my kids! (Hopefully NOT cooking anything else for the day)*I know I can’t believe it either!* But Alexa sent me a letter in the mail about wanting to bake cookies with me D Made me cry! It was SOOOOO sweet. I’ll also have to share the card/ poem she wrote me ALL by herself! She loves writing poems. I’m so proud of her writing and reading skills. She wants to write books/stories when she grows up! How cool is that?! A very good goal I think.

Amber made me couple things, that were REALLY cute. One saying she loves me because I take her shopping! LOL! And give lots of hugs and kisses.

Noah made me a card and puzzle-but told me he really wanted to make one for daddy! Um, thanks! LOL! So he took mine out of the envelope and made something for Jay instead! He is mad at me because he lost his XBOX for a week, after being TERRIBLE to my mother while she watched him, when we were at the funeral.

Oh well. He will get over it eventually!! I hope. It hurt my feelings for him to be so angry with me. I know I need to stand my ground, but its so hard to be a mom sometimes.

Thanks for stopping by!

I’d LOVE to hear what your thoughts are for todays post and my newest template!

Enjoy your day.

Make sure you come back tomorrow for MORE peeks and endless ideas 😀

Spring Fling

Apr 30, 2009 Author: mytime | Filed under: Home decor/3-D items, My Timeless Templates, Papertrey Newsletter

Well its hard to believe it’s May 1st!

That mean another Papertrey Ink Design Team Challenge! I think these are so fun & challenging (DUH! That is why its called a challenge! Time for MORE coffee). I love a challenge.

This month Nichole has a fun challenge that includes all of YOU as well! You will have to pick from each design team member’s source of inspiration photo to create YOUR OWN version! (So I guess I hope you like mine :D)

The CHALLENGE: Get inspired by a Spring Themed photo or image

Well, when I got my May 2009 issue of Family Fun Magazine, I found page 77 very intriguing! (its a great magazine if you have children! Always full of kid friendly stuff to do!)

So here it is-

inspiration-from-family-fun-mag.JPG

How fun (and Spring!) is a Mother’s Day Tea party? I know I am SO wanting to have one with my girls!!

Look at that FABULOUS table cloth, and the tea pot! I fell in love with the idea of everything paper-made, and the colors are just gorgeous!

So I got to work!

Using Guide Lines Grid 2 paper, and the Wishing You stamp set I tried to get fancy schmancy and made my own paper, with a similar version of the pattern on the table cloth.

I used the following ink:Pure Poppy, Hibiscus Burst, Pumpkin (SU!), and Summer Sunset

Here is my stamped patterned paper, next to the inspiration piece.

inspiration-photo-with-paper.JPG

I stamped the tulips facing eachother. I think it makes a cool pattern D Not exact-but that is the point-INSPIRED BY!

OK! Paper made! Now what to make????

Well I figured if I did have a tea party with my girls it would be fun to put various yummy teas in a fun box! Nothing TOO complicated. I wanted QUICK!

So, My Timeless Template- Rounded Wrap Up to the rescue!

PS Did you see Nichole BIG ANNOUNCEMENT post about the templates?

—-> READ HERE!!! So exciting!

OK back to the FINISHED project

Tea For Two

tea-for-two-rounded-wrap-up.JPG

Isn’t it SO cute?!

I just used my patterned paper to make a wrap for my box. I then stamped my tea pot from Tea for Two, to match the yellow tea pot in the inspiration photo.

This is Alexa Modeling it for you all!!

 alexa-again.JPG

 She did a great job!

Here is another. I am having SOOO much fun getting photos of my kids 😀 AND  including my projects ( killing 2 birds with one stone-priceless!) I think they make the BEST props! LOL!

Alexa LOVED being the center of attention for this project.

cute-alexa.JPG

This was HER favorite photo-so I had to include it

alexa-tea-3.JPG

Now I will show you how my finished project looks next to my inspiration piece:D

inspiration-with-item.JPG

Now seriously! Doesn’t my box look like it was MEANT to be for that party in the book? I LOVE it!!!! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!

You may be wondering what we did with the rest of the paper!

Now LOOK on the table! See the folded fan like thing?

Well  the magazine were directions for a fan. Alexa wanted to make it (so I helped score it and stuff) and she decided it would be a Fan FLOWER!

dsc_0029.JPG

The way the pattern was stamped, it does make a COOL “flower”. Good idea Alexa!

Anyway-that is what I did for my challenge.

Be sure to check out the Design Teams blogs so you can pick a inspiration piece and play along (let me know if you do try mine 😀 I want to see it!)

  • Becky O
  • Kelly Lunceford- Template Team
  • Lisa Johnson
  • Michelle Wooderson

  • Now I need to finish up my first post that features all my challenge team members! Wait till you see what they did for tomorrows Sketch Challenge! WOW!

    OK signing off!

Hope you get lots of inspiration today 😀

    WOOT! WOOT!

I got a video done! Actually I got 6 done 😀 I changed my Mondays with Mytime Video category to Mytime Movies/Videos! The Monday must do is too much pressure! Just know I plan on doing a WEEKLY video-at minimum. I am enjoying it alot. I hope you are too.

SO, the video that I am sharing today is one that I have gotten hundreds of emails asking for! LOL! So I hope it doesn’t disappoint!

Today’s video is a Start to Finish approach to using the Copic  Airbrush System.

Many of you wanted to see it in action, to help YOU decide if its a must have. SO I hope this helps you. (and yes-you need it! LOL!)

I also share how you can use the Ciaos in it too! YES! You can! No buying new markers!! So no worries there. See I LOVE saving my peeps money 😀

Keep in mind Im NOT a copic professional! Im just like YOU-a stamper who learns my PLAYING! This is a video on how I use it, and it seems to work for me 😀

Enjoy-and I would LOVE to hear your feedback as this video took FOREVER-as I made a finished card sample from each portion of the video that I shared.

OOPS! One of my segments (doing the orange dots on the card-no worries same thing as the pink dots) goes black!!!!!!!! Please either fast forward, or continue on because the rest comes in OK

I can’t edit the video once saved, and ahve NO IDEA why this happened :C) SORRY!

    [veoh v18355593yJjBpRkQ]

If you want to safely view  ALL the videos I published on Veoh, please CLICK HERE!

NOTE: DO NOT CLICK ON THE THUMBNAILS !If you click ON the thumbnails AFTER the video it takes you to the Veoh site. Some of the content there I am told is “R” and “X”rated and you may not want to do that around young children. So if you just watch the video here on my blog, and avoid the thumbnails you should be OK. Not sure WHY they don’t have ONLY stamp related videos pop up, but I guess some aren’t.

Bottom line: Click at your own risk!

I am not responsible for content that links to the videos from the Veoh site.

    Thank you D

WARNING! There are some extreme close-ups of my face when showing you stuff on the video! I apologize! Im a dork!

Now I will share the view of the cards that I feature in the video. Sadly they were taken at dusk :C Bad idea!

NOTE: All my cardstock/patterned paper, and most ribbon (not first card) is from Papertrey Ink

Here is the first card I share

    Let your light shine

    shine-light.JPG

Stamp/Sentiment-In the Parlor from Lizzie Anne Designs NEW! Spring Release

This used a masking technique with the Copic Air Gun & Eclipse Tape. It looks so cool doesn’t it?

I was inspired by my lampshade for the side panel design on my card! Simply, fun & funky!

Now the next card-same great colors-same stamp set too!!

    empty-chair.JPG

Without you there its just an empty chair

I have to say I LOVE my colored chair!

Now making this background with my Airbrush system was WAY fun!!! Simple card with lots of WOW! factor. I love the RETRO modern feel this has. SO HAPPY!

Now you know me and butterflies! I use a masked punched butterfly image, and created a 3D  scene with punched butterflies! (Punch is by Martha Stewart)

    have-faith.JPG

By layering on another punched butterfly (also Martha Stewart) from vellum cardstock, they appear to be fluttering off the card!

I used Out on a Limb for my branches-an lightly stamped floral blooms.

    have-faith-2.JPG

I absolutely fell in LOVE with the NEW! Tiny Words & Borders set by JustRite Stampers. It fits PERFECTLY in the SU! 1 1/4 inch circle punch! LOVE THAT! I’d been hoping for more smaller sentiments and images like these 😀 These are coming soon! I got a preview 😀 Im a lucky a girl 😀 Check out what is next—HERE! WOWZERS!

AND they are having a GIVEAWAY TODAY!

Just clean-simple and elegant. You don’t always need a million layers and embellishments for a great look!

This set is Garden Inspirations from Lizzie Anne Designs NEW! Spring Release

It also uses a sentiment from that release-Everyday Sayings (on the tag)

    I love it

Cherry Blossom 2oz. body wash, body lotion, body spray, and loofah-fit in here perfectly

    delicate-blossom.JPG

I was SO inspired by the Cherry Blossom bath set I purchased for a gift item, that I designed my packaging around it! I always say its ALL about the presentation!

Many bath and body products are just plain GORGEOUS! No need to cover them up! So let’s get inspired by them for our gift design.

This is my handmade Cherry Blossom flower-inspired by my bath set.

Soooooo many of you said you want to see template challenges so here we go! Let’s see how many of you actually want to give this a go!

Based on the comments and MANY emails I think I figured out how to SPICE it up and keep in fresh and interesting!!

Depending on participation -I think I have decided WHAT I want to do on my blog now!

One week will be a template challenge, one week will be an inspiration challenge, another week will be a color challenge, then another week sketch challenge-not in that order! LOL! So something new each week.

Here is the first template challenge:

My Timeless Template Challenge 01 (keyword MTTC01)

Use ANY template YOU like. We have 2 FREE templates-so NO excuses!! You have a week to create something.

Like I did-Design your template/package based on the label of a bath product of your choice—> FROM HERE

(unless you have your own already)

Post the link to the inspiration piece WITH the photos of your finished template

    Link your creation HERE

This should be so fun to see 😀

    Now onto my package details…..

My For  Keep{Sake} template was made from shimmer white cardstock.

I have long since wanted to line the INSIDE of my box, so I finally did that here today. LOVE the look.

NOTE: It is easiest to line it inside BEFORE assembling!

    delicate-top.JPG

I used the Mimosa paper, which is shimmery by SEI. What a totally professional and finished look! Don’t you think? Remember its always the LITTLE details that give that WOW! factor.

You can see the little bath set in the window.

    other-side-box.JPG

I love how the cherry blossoms came out!

My first time making them too-based on the ones on the bath bottles.

     blossom-detail-2.JPG

I do have a flower video planned-hopefully filming tomorrow. I just NEED a breather right now, and doing this was just plain FUN, which is definitely what I needed.

This gift set is now in my Etsy Shop!

The flowers are made by me, and painted with a Shimmerz paint! I love the look.

Think of what a FABULOUS gift JUST the BOX is, let alone the yummy smelling gift set inside!

The window is a sentiment from Remember set ” True Strength is Delicate”

    Just love this.

    OK! Now its YOUR turn!!

I can’t wait to see what YOU do.

Thanks for all the suggestions and emails. My head is spinning 😀

    Template Duo

Apr 13, 2009 Author: mytime | Filed under: Home decor/3-D items, My Timeless Templates, Papertrey Newsletter

    Is it the 15th yet?!

    Last peeks till the RELEASE.

JEEPERS! This week is in SLOW motion, isn’t it?! I feel like I have been creating for a month! LOL! I crammed so much into a few days, I’m not sure how time stood still.

Maybe I’m just too excited to get the show on the road! I love when we have a release. I especially love when you share YOUR creations with me 😀 Its the best mail in my IN BOX- truly!

So as you know we are releasing a TON of stuff over at Papertrey Ink. I don’t think Nichole EVER sleeps. I think she is busier than me-and trust me, I am pretty busy-everyday! LOL!

Well as you know, we are releasing two more templates this month! From the Desk Of, and Get a Handle On It! Only ONE more sleep (as my kids would say!) I really love this months release ( I guess I love every month hehehehe) but I can’t help it.

So today I thought I’d share another peek-one for each new template. I swear I could make a million things with JUST these two. I have so many ideas, my note pad page is FULL.

Lots of VIDEO ideas too. I so need to get FILMING soon 😀 My in-box was full of requests 😀 THANK YOU.

So lets move along to the eye candy shall we? I know you aren’t here for me blabbering on and on, when we have a release coming.

    Little Black Bird- Jar Trio

    front-box-detial-bird.JPG

I recently got an AMAZING deal on some jars at the Dollar Plus store. I really dislike the PLUS part! LOL! These were MORE than a dollar for several, but I couldn’t resist! I see things like that, and immediately a million gift ideas and packaging options FLOOD my brain! Even my KIDS find stuff and say “OH! Mom I bet you could make something pretty out of this!” Its hilarious. I love it. I like that they TOO can see outside the box, so young 😀 I’m telling you Im totally going to be “replaced” by my own children in a few years.

I really LOVE Black and Lemon Tart together.

I saw an advertisement (not sure for what-sorry!) that used these colors, so I jotted it down for future reference.

    birdie-box.JPG

I LOVE Black & White Basics patterned paper-the floral pattern especially, since I LOVE customizing it to whatever color I want for the project. I just whip out my Copic markers, and away I go. I have colored it numerous times, and it never gets old to me 😀 Its actually quite relaxing. granted its a LITTLE time consuming, but well worth the look.

For this project I made my side panels, and front panels with the colored paper.

If you PRINT the designer panels on COPY paper, then use the copy paper as a guide you get just the right amount of colored paper for the decorative panels 😀

    side-bird-dertails.JPG

I wanted to make a gift that the receiver could personalize by putting whatever THEY wanted in the jars! Hence them being EMPTY!

These have a wide mouth, with a cork stopper.

    jar-and-box.JPG

They are great for office items like tacs, paperclips, staples……..or maybe for a sewer! Buttons, thimbles, little mini thread rolls, How about the stamper? Buttons, Brads, Eyelets or Prima’s! The list goes on and on. You could even fill it with little bath products like bath wash, lotion and bath salts! Maybe a gardener! Put various seeds in each bottle?!

Anywho-I love the WOW! factor these colors offer.

    flower-bird-details.JPG

    Isn’t the flower detail gorgeous??

There is a pocket in the back. That is empty. Again I wanted to let the receiver fill it with their choice of items0like a journal, address book, photo album, gardening journal, face spa packets……………..whatever ends up being their “theme”.

    Who wouldn’t LOVE this?

    Supplies:

My Timeless Template: From the Desk Of

    Stamps: Everyday Classics
    Cardstock: Lemon Tart, True Black
Patterned paper: Black & White basics-colored with copics to match, 2008 Bitty Dots collection
Ink: True Black, and Copic markers
    Vintage buttons in white
    Various punches
Ribbon : Stitched black grosgrain, black twill
    glass jars-Dollar Plus

    OK next up!

This funky box design was inspired by some fabric I saw used on a purse while shopping Etsy!

     daisy-cuts.JPG

I’ll be darned if I can find it now! I knew I should have saved it to my faves 😀 I wanted to buy it 😀

If you haven’t noticed Friends Til the End is a top favorite set of mine 😀 What I really love the cutting out part of the petals! Im not sure how well it shows but various petals are cut out of the box! I LOVE the look it gives to the box.

This one will be hard to part with too.

    cut-outs-details.JPG

I stamped my petals on the gray cardstock box in black. I then took my hobby blade and sliced some out.

For a NICE POP of color I used my Prismacolor Pencils-they give a FAB pop of color when working on DARK cardstock bases. I’m LOVING this look.

    deaitls-daisy.JPG

The box is decorated on all sides 😀 You always want to remember the BACK!!

Instead of punching a handle I punched two holes, and strung through some grosgrain ribbon instead.

    daisy-cuts-box.JPG

You know I HAD to add a butterfly!

I’m selling this on my Etsy shop so I left it BLANK! That way someone can use it for whatever they choose.

    Supplies:

My Timeless Template-Get a Handle On It

    Stamps:Friends Til the End
Cardstock: Dark Gray, vellum, true black
    Ink: Black Pallette
    Prismacolor pencils
    Hobby blade
    Martha Stewart butterfly punch
    ribbon

OK so TONIGHT is the BIG release! I can’t wait. I hope you are as excited as I am! I can’t tell you how much I enjoy sharing all my ideas every month with you all. Your sweet comments make the ENDLESS hours of designing, altering and creating so worth it to me 😀

I know I say this stuff ALL the time, but I really do mean every word. I feel like you all take the time to stop by, and or comment, the LEAST I can do is tell you how much it means to me 😀 I read every single word-always!

So thank you! I hope to see you tonight on the PTI forums 😀

In the meantime……………….check in on Nichole, Becky, Dawn , Heather and Lisa,as they are all sharing samples too!

Sooooo I’ll chat with you later or see you back here tomorrow!

PS did you all notice my SUPER awesome new signature?! Don’t you love it?! Im over the moon with it. My blog girl Sara is THE BEST! I swear she feels like my sister I never had! She rocks!! She even did my Etsy Store Banner 😀 and the listing on my sdiebar. Amongst a million other things. Im shocked I’m not on her SPAM list yet! LOL!

Sara you know I LOVE YOU!!!! You are the BESTEST!

    OK Im going now 😀

Well we are still sharing sneak peeks this week for the Papertrey Ink Release!

I KNOW you are waiting for a video-but I just can’t swing it rigth today. I will have one this week though. I still need to post my Saturday Sketch stuff. The last 3/4 weeks of missing my own sketch should indicate Im not able to get everything done :C I always have SO MUCH I want to do, but can’t. KILLS ME!

As you may know, the release will take place on the 15th! Im just so beyond excited, and exhausted at the same time.

Today I am sharing a sample with the From the Desk of template.

I think this one is REALLY cool!!

I took the template, and made 2 of the boxes. I then adhered them together, back to back, and added a bottom panel-for a finished look. Now talk about making a UBER cool-MEGA gift/Organizer 😀 WAHOO!!! Plus it looks rockin together.

NOW for a REALLY cool- My Timeless TIP!!!!!!!!!!

For the decorative side panels: when you ADHERE the TWO finished templates together (as you will see in my project)-

You cut out your decorative panels out-but LEAVE them together in the center!

See photo-this is the print out of the decoartive panels-which would be cut into 2-writing side adhered to template.

    template.JPG

Don’t cut the panels separately. Leave them together!

That gives you the PERFECT-solid – one piece- decorative panel cover!!

Come look at what I mean

I decided it would be a Counter-top Recipe Cart! A great looking box, that fits mini recipe books, recipe cards to give to friends, a file system for your own recipe’s and a note book so that you can write down meal plans, recipes, things to buy or other ideas!!

This is the side of the Recipe Box I created.

    tree-details.JPG

Both sides are the same. I designed this so that the sides of this box would face out.

    tree-side.JPG

Now here is the detail of the stitching I did around all the designer paper layers.

    tree-stitching.JPG

Its a squiggle stitch to mimic the pattern of the leaves. I then distressed the edges a bit.

View of the left side of the Counter-top Recipe Cart

    front-side-close-tree-recipe.JPG

    Now with the book out

    boxes-recipe-set.JPG

Now in one side of the box we have the covered notebook, a set of “From the Kitchen of” recipe cards that I purchased, and 3 mini cook books!

    tree-choice-side.JPG

On the other side we have……

      recipe-other-side.JPG

A weekly meal planner notebook that I purchased (and is magnetic)

a full set of PTI recipe cards-already tabbed off with the following categories: Appetizers, Salads & Soups, Entrees, and Desserts

They fit PERFECTLY in here 😀 LOVE IT!

Isn’t that a GREAT gift idea? Weather or not you know someone well, this is a fabulous gift.

Think of new home, new apartment, maybe a cook/baker in your life?

Even if you don’t take the idea to use recipes, its great gift box for anything wlse you may want to put in there too.

    Supplies:

    From the Desk of template

Stamps: Father Knows Best, Recipe Box, Garden of Life

    Cardstock-White, Aqua Mist, Ocean Tides

    Patterned Paper-Green Tea Leaves

    Ink-Ocean Tides, Sping Moss

    Ribbon-Ocean tides stitched grosgrain

Sewing machine, circle punches, circle nestabilities, notebook, PTI recipe cards, other recipe cards and mini recipe books X3
