   Congrats! The only tip I can say is to just play with it and practice. The more you shoot, the better you’ll get. I have a Nikon D50 and love it!
   Truly beautiful photos!

   Hey sweetie 🙂 Awesome news about the camera- my dad is getting a new one and I get his old one- I am SO STOKED cuz I still am working with film here! I just wanted to say- I don’t know anything about the camera- BUT for the contest- maybe play on light and shadows outside- blurring the background and focusing her face into the light- I’ve seen so many pics like that turn out GORGEOUS- not that your girl needs any help look gorgeous tho 😉 good luck and I hope it helped!

   Well I am a Cannon Girl so I can not help you on the Nikon, but I do have a question I have not been by for a week or so and I am trying to find the answers to my questions in your posts and I know you said a million people have asked you but what I can not figure out is How many of the sketches do you want us to submit for consideration on your team, are we just supposed to enter sketches or other projects as well, and I read where you said they were due by the end of the week but is that Friday or Saturday??

   Sorry I know you have probably answered this question a million times!!!

   Oooops forgot to say Amber is a cutie and as a photographer I can tell you that the 2nd picture actually could win a photo contest because of the placement of her in the photo and because it is not a posed or perfect picture but she looks gorgeous!!!

   Congrats! You’ll LOVE it! You’ll find yourself buying lenses and filters and all sorts of other goodies to support your new habit! I highly (HIGHLY) recommend the Oh Shoot! Photography class through http://www.jessicasprague.com. Candice walks your through different settings on your camera and tells you exactly what to set to get great pictures for every occasion. It was amazing how much better my photos turned out.

   If I were you – I’d try to find a place nearby that offers classes or something — they’ll teach you A LOT about your camera, better than you’ll learn from a book…you might even find something online…

   have fun playing around – and glad you are entering Amber in that contest, she sure is a cutie pie!!

   Congrats on the new camera! What a great gift! My future daughter-in-law is an art major (photography) and got her uber-camera this year. We’re going to her senior art show this weekend. Fun times. I’m sure you’ll master your new camera in no time. Thanks for all the great posts so far this week. I’m just catching up on them tonight.

    I adore that photo of Amber in her dance outfit. Her smile is infectious, and her eyes look so big!

    I don’t have a Nikon, so I don’t have any tips for you, but I know you will do GREAT with it.

    Happy (early) birthday! Enjoy your new toy! I’m not a ‘camera expert’ but all I can suggest is just play around with it. You’ll get the feel for it soon enough. Hey, what about Maggie? Doesn’t she offer classes? Probably not specifically for a certain camera, eh?
    I would definitely enter Amber in a contest. She’s totally gorgeous! Those are such adorable pictures. You have a knack for ‘capturing’ *her*.

    Woohoo! I have a Nikon too and I am loving it! I have not jumped into the manual settings yet but I am tearing it up with the portrait setting and lots of action shots. Just the high speed shooting alone makes the DSLR upgrade worth it….now I don’t miss all those cute expressions and moments while w-a-i-t-i-n-g for the regular digi cam to fire. Have fun chasing your kids around with your new cam!

    She is adorable! Her eyes are so blue! I’d die for blue eye! My father and brother had them, but I got stuck with hazel (not so bad, but blue is better)!

    Love the cards, too. I may have to got to PCS and check them out! Great for coloring! And love the fairy, too! I love them as well!

    Happy early Birthday! What an AWESOME gift!!
    Now, take Karen Russell’s photography class!! TRUST ME! You will not regret it – I promise! She is an AMAZING photographer and a WONDERFUL teacher! Seriously!! I took it and my pictures have taken an amazing 180° turn! I’m even taking pictures for other people now!! Its a nine week class, you get one lesson a day, more info than you can imagine, and you can work at your own pace if you want.

    I’ve been looking at the camera too and we celebrate the same birthday too! I’m going to Vegas with girlfriends as my bday present from hubby, but he knows he still has to get me a bouquet of tulips (my fave)–its tradition!!

    WhooooHooooo, new camera,I know you areso excited!!
