OK its My turn to host the monthly Sketch challenge for Lizzie Anne Designs ๐
I had WAY too much fun with it ๐
This is Sketch #67! Link your creation in the forum—>HERE!
I cannot wait to see what you do.
I made 2 cards with it, since I was on a creative roll. I LOVE sketches ๐ They are a great starting point. I should use my sketches more often, but sadly once I use it once, I usually never use it again :C I spent the morning printing my OLD sketches for myself for more use in the future, and as a good reference.
I am also sketching FUTURE sketches to send to my Saturday Sketch Team! We will have like 20 in advance!!
OK here is my take on the sketch-
A little birdie party
This card uses the Party Animals set. I thik its SOOOO cute.
OK so I didn’t follow my own sketch EXACTLY (sentiment is on the side), but thats OK! Its as starting point of inspiration. I reallyย feel like once you get the “sketch” part out of the way MAKING the card comes so much easier!
I picked the paper first (Target $1 spot LAST year), then went from there! I’m in LOVE with this color combo
Raspberry Fizz (my new favorite color!), spring moss, and Lemon Tart-HEAVEN!!
The “added” challenge with the sketch was to use glitter! I have it on the present, and cupcake.
The birds hat is 3D! Oh and glitter on her tail.
Now moving on…………………..2nd sample with the sketch uses a FAVORITE LAD set of mine ๐ called Tea Time
As you can see I did mix it up a bit, using a large circle. I LOVE this card.
Im beyond addicted to the Chloe paper by Making Memories!
The paper base is a cream color, so I used natural ivory from SU! I also use Blue Bayou, and barely banana.
I had this ribbon from American Crafts, and it really was a nice touch since I think it picks us the lighter blue too.
I just LOVE this card, and the colors. Oh and of course-the dimension. I feel everything should be multi-layered ๐
Well that is all for today.
I hope you get inspired to give the sketch a try!!
I HOPE to get my video done today. My life has been busy.
Also Noah is having a minor surgery on Friday, and Im starting to freak out a little bit.ย Its nothing “serious”, but surgery is surgery, and I have had my share or “yes it can happen to “me” and my family” type of things, so if you can remember, just pray it goes well.
He has to have a circumcision. I know TOO MUCH info. Jay is going to KILL me for putting this out there for the world! LOL!
Long story short-when he was a baby we couldn’t get him circumcised because I had a bleeding disorder (or so I was told at 15 when I was going to get my tonsils out! They wouldn’t do it), and was told that if I had Noah gotten circumcised he could have the same disorder, and was at high risk of bleeding to death from the circumcision.
(Fast forward to pregnancy with Amber, and they re-tested me for everything and found NO disorder! Oh well, everything happens for a reason right?)
Well, Alexa had heart surgery at 3 weeks old. I had no choice. This was “elective” why put him through that possible risk?? Plus now over 70% (I believe-not cold hard fact) aren’t getting their boys circumcised, so I wasn’t going to freak out over it. There were worse things to worry about in the world.
OK now onto today-he went years without any problems. Then 4 months ago he got his first infection. They have continued to re-occur several times in that span, and he developed scar tissue after the first one. That leads to more infections-blah blah blah, leading us to NOW have to get him snipped!
I happy we can get it done. But nervous all the same.
He will be put out. The procedure is only 20 minutes long, but its still risky with any anesthesia. So a little prayer for smooth sailing doesn’t hurt.
He will supposedly be a a lot of pain for 2 days -with NO active stuff for 2 weeks (I don’t know-that is from a MALE doctor and you know how MEN are when you mess with their boy parts! LOL!). Jason had a vasectomy, 2 TINY stitches,ย and it took 2 WEEKS for him to recover-BIG BABY!
I pushed out 9lb kids and the second they are out, they are thrown on my chest, and the staff is like “Ok here you go! Feed it!” LOL! With Alexa I had 8 stitches down yonder, after 32 hour of labor, and 2 hours of pushing and discharged myself 4 hours after giving birth to follow her to the hospital she was getting transferred to.
SOOOOOO not sure how this will go. Noah is pretty good when he is sick, but again, we are messing with the boy parts, so we will see.
Thanks for letting me vent my worry here. I know I dealt with more than this before. We all hate to see our kids in pain. We haven’t told him everything. We most likely wont.
Just that he will get put to sleep, and we will be there. They will fix his boy part while sleeping, and then we will be there when he wakes up!
Don’t want to dish too much info KWIM? He’d be scared to death.
OK well I need to run.
Thanks again for stopping by.
Wish me another productive day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW!! What a sweet set of card designs Lauren!! Beautifully done!! TFS! ๐
I’ll keep your son in my thoughts. My son, almost 2, is getting circumsised next month on Friday the 13th. Not sure it is a good thing to be messing with boy parts on that day, lol. I’m pretty nervous too but I’m sure it will be quick and fine. Other than the horrifying pain that accompanies anything to do with boy parts, lol.
First of all prayers for Noah and his procedure and may it all work out well. Second great sketch and even greater samples. Thank you so much for the share.
Blessings

Love the new cards and the sketch is fabulous! My baby son had to have his circumcision when he was just under 2 months. We weren’t able to have it done right out of the hospital for other reasons..but anyway, I know it can be harder the older they get, and we will definitely be praying for him and you! I have two boys, and they are both circumcised, but each one was totally different. They had different surgeons and the after-care part was different for each one. It was really hard for me to handle as I do NOT like blood and yucky stuff. My kids have to see my husband to make their boo boos better ๐ I can’t handle it! Have a great rest of the day!
Best wishes for little Noah. Hopefully if you set up the expectation that he’ll breeze through it, he will. =) My son had only one infection, and now he’s 11. Lots of boys are uncircumsized these days, since it is an elective surgery. I figure deal with it when/if it becomes a problem, as you are. Hugs to you both!
As always, beautiful cards on your post. I will keep you and your little boy in my prayers for a successful and easy healing proceedure.
Aww poor little man-he’ll be just fine. Good luck!
Elizabeth
We went through the same exact thing with my son…he hadn’t planned on circumsizing him at all, but then he developed some cysts and infections. He was about 15 months when he finally had it done and we were so nervous, but he was fine afterward! You couldn’t even tell anything had happened, and seemed to be in no pain. I’ll be thinking about Noah and your family and I’m sure everything will go very well!
OMW Lauren! I’m nervous for you too! Noah, you & Jay will be in my prayers all week. I’m sure he will be fine but I’m like you and worry the anesthesia too! It’s a mom’s “j-o-b” to worry! Comes with the title!! The aftermath pain will probably be the toughest part for all of you…maybe it won’t be as bad you think!? Anyway… my prayers are with your family. BTW…luv the cards! ๐ Kim
Praying for a smooth road, Lauren!
Great sketch. Love the cards – especially the tea/friend one.
Beautiful cards.
And I TOTALLY AGREE! The quote “If men had to give birth, humans would have become extinct” is SO accurate. With the exception of my father, the only man I have ever met that has a MAJOR tolerance for pain, men in general are the biggest babies when it comes to anything ucomfortable(illness, boo-boos, surgeries, etc.)
Praying for you and your son :o) Everything will be fine, but wanted you to know I was thinking of you.
Hi Lauren, gorgous cards. I absolutely love the bright colours of the 1st card!
I have an award for you over on my blog!
Siobhan xxx
Poor Little Guy!! I will be thinking of you both on Friday and I am sure everything will be fine!!
Great Cards today – I love the colours in the first one.
For your son’s sake, please read the article below. There are non-surgical ways to treat foreskin problems, and this article by Dr. Paul Fleiss, a pediatrician, describes these treatments. Unfortunately, too many doctors and parents are unaware of these effective, alternative treatments.
http://www.mothering.com/articles/new_baby/circumcision/protect-uncircson.html
Many doctors are unaware of a simple method for treating yeast infections of the foreskin. Dr. Fleiss talks about applying liquid acidophilus culture (available in health food stores) to the foreskin to restore the natural bacterial balance to the skin. This works really well! My grandson used this for a foreskin infection and it cleared up within a couple of days. The infection came about after taking antibiotics. Many women suffer from yeast infections after taking antibiotics, and eating yogurt containing active acidophilus cultures restores the natural bacterial balance to the skin. Please don’t cut off your son’s foreskin before learning about the non-surgical treatments. The sexual losses to him are great and permanent. See:

Oooh, that’s never fun. I remember when they did it to my little guy when he was a few days old. I felt awful for a week!
Funny, though, about your supposed blood disorder. I had the same thing happen, only it happened between pregnancies. I had to take blood thinners for the first pregnancy and then my levels were normal for the second. According to the specialist, my levels couldn’t ever have been what the first test said or I would be dead. So either God healed me, or they mixed up my blood test with someone else’s. I’m really, really hoping it was the first option, though, because that other person would probably be dead right now!
Anyway, I hope all goes well for you and Noah!
Beautiful cards, Lauren!! I’m such a HUGE fan of your work…everything you do is so pretty & creative.
Sending up prayers for Noah & you. Keep us posted on his recovery.
Blessings….
Great sketch, Lauren…and both cards are so pretty!!
I will be thinking of Noah, and praying for a successful surgery & recovery! Hugs!!
I absolutely love everything you do! You are so talented, and so generous with your ideas. Thank you so much. I have one question-where did you get the Making Memories Chloe paper? I bought some embellishments from Michael’s, but they didn’t have the paper, and I can’t find it on their website. I’ll be praying Noah and you.
You crack me up girl. Love the Sketch. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for Noah. Now I CANNOT WAIT to see the CARD that you are bound to create for THIS RECOVERY.
Great card! Hope you’re able to get some rest before Noah’s surgery. If you’re not showing signs of worry, then he won’t either. Prayers for a speedy recovery!
Lovely cards and our prayers are with you and your family.
thought will be with you-good luck with it all!!! take care of you all!!
Adorable samples and the sketch is too much fun! I’ll for sure be playing.
Adorable samples and the sketch is too much fun! I’ll for sure be playing.
love both of your cards Lauren.
I will also be praying for you all. We too waited as the dr we had at the time didn’t think it was necessary to do at birth. HA!!! After going thru everything we did with the oldest (4 at the time) we decided to have both boys done. I was a wreck but they both were okay and haven’t had infections since.
Noah will do fine!! I hope you are ok though!
Lauren, your cards are great! I like them both so much I can’t choose a favorite. What’s really great about this sketch is that you can use those small images that are hard to use so often.
Poor Noah. I know he’s scared, but he’ll be fine. I’ll keep him in my prayers and will be thinking of you all on Friday. When I was pregnant with my first child I decided that if it was a boy I wasn’t going to have the circumcision done. It seems like so much to put a little baby through! But, I guess some things are easier to have done as a baby than when you’re older!
It might be worth getting a second opinion about whether or not a circumcision is really necessary. It seems to be far more common for US doctors to diagnose the need to circumcise than doctors in other countries. Only 1 in 140 UK males ever needs to be circumcised for a medical reason, and it’s getting rarer. See if you can find a pediatric urologist who’s against neonatal circumcision, but still thinks that your son needs to be circumcised. If the people telling you he needs to be circumcised think that all males should be circumcised at birth, then they’re very out of step with doctors in other countries.
If he really does need it done, then it’s safer and less painful than if he’d had it done when he was a baby. The results are cosmetically better too.
{{{HUGS}}} girlie – you KNOW I’ll be praying. I have to admit – I did LOL at your ‘messin’ with the boy parts’ comment. Poor Noah – keep positive – that will help him keep positive…but you already know that ๐ love you girlie!!
I know we don’t know each other but prayers work all the same. We will also be praying for him.
Don’t worry about the procedure. My son had to have his done when he was 4. It was no big deal. He didn’t even have pain when he pee’d right afterwards. As for the ladies that mentioned getting a second opinion and lack of sexual losses, my son is now 20 and he suffers nothing from his procedure. :^O This is something that has to be done in some cases and not in others. Good luck to you all.
Fabulous cards Lauren!!
I will be thinking of Noah and am sure everything will go just fine. Our little guy was circumsized just after he was born, however friends of ours had to take the youngest boy when he was 8 due to re-occuring infections as well.
I do have to admit that I did have to LOL reading, but honestly will kepp Noah in my thoughts!
Hugs, Kelly
oh my goodness! It’s so true, my husband has the biggest pain tolerance that I have ever seen but he was the biggest baby when it came to a vasectomy!
Your son will be in my prayers.
Lauren, first of all do NOT let others influence your medical decisions regarding YOUR family. You are a devoted, loving mom who has dealt with more doctors, hospitals, and medical problems than most people do in a lifetime. I have complete confidence that you have researched your son’s need for a circumcision, weighed the pros and cons, and given this decision a lot of informed and educated thought. YOU, JAY and Noah’s DOCTOR have made the right decision based on Noah’s medical problems and thorough physical exams. I cannot believe that anyone would feel so self-important as to question it. You are already stressed enough and no one should add to that by questioning your decision.
Your family will be in my thoughts.
Hugs,
-mary
I’m not quite sure if this is the right place to show off my card using your sketch. I was blog hopping yesterday and came across you, so if you want you can check my card out here http://treesawardincrafts.blogspot.com/2009/02/lizzie-anne-designs-sketch-67-challenge.html I just wanted to show off a bit.
Hi Lauren,
Best wishes for a speedy recovery for little Noah. He has a great mom to take care of him!
I also wanted to say, thanks for the chuckle. I was laughing out loud when I read your blog and how men CAN be such babies. To which my husband asked why I was laughing, so I read him the blog-didn’t even finish when he screamed “There’s stictches-that’s it I’m not getting one now!”
Thanks for humoring me and love your blog-you’re so creative, you inspire me to create more!
Ruth
Lauren – Keeping Noah and your family in my prayers. I am sure everything will be just fine. But I surely know what you mean – it is a mom thing to worry. Know you are surrounded by love and prayers.
Hugs.
Annette
Oh boy…
Sending you big hugs and good thoughts for Noah (and for you). I can certainly relate to some level. (I’ll explain later).
Your sketches are gorgeous, as usual.
Gotta run – but know that I’m saying a special prayer for Noah!
Hugs!
Lauren – I pray all goes well, I’m sure it will be fine. Poor thing at his age that must be hard just because of what it is. good luck.
Great samples as well.
The sketch is terrific and your samples are over the top. They make me want to get out and color! Very, very cute.
Cute cards! I especially love the first one!
Any surgery, big or little, is a worry for a mom! We moms worry about it all. It comes with the territory! My thoughts are with you!!
Second – GREAT cards!
Prayers for Noah and for you! Pretty cards, Love the blue and yellow and those aren’t usually my favorites.
Good luck to you and your little guy. I know it’s hard to elect to do something that will cause any loved one pain. My son is 15 yo and when he was a baby all the literature talked about how the majority of boy babies were not circumsized. Strangely we never ran into anyone who had not had their baby boys circumsized! After all these years whenever the “when my kids were babies” stories come up I have yet to run into a non-circumsized boy.
First of all — LOVE LOVE LOVE the cards! Great sketch and wonderful interpretation.
Secondly — anytime anything has to be done to our kids, we freak. I don’t blame you – I’d be worried too. So I will pray for you both –and, especially, for his speedy recovery so you won’t lose your mind!
Vicki
You can’t help but worry when someone you love is going to have surgery. I am sure Noah will be just fine, but I will send up a few prayers for him. Hope you have some great ideas for entertaining him for a couple of days after!
Oh man! I wish you guys lived here & I’d push for you to have Noah come to ‘my’ OR for his surgery! ๐ My son had surgery once & as a mother (and nurse) — it scares you to death! I feel for you!
I tried adding a photo to the #67 Challenge, but couldn’t do it?
Lisa
Lauren, I’m sure Noah will be just fine, but I will definitely pray for him and hopes he has a fast recovery. *hugs*
Sonia
This definitely looks like a sketch I can do, just need to find the time around here. Awesome cards again Lauren. Prayers for you, Noah and the family this week.
