OH boy do I have a ba-jillion things to do today! WHEW!
My brother and his girlfriend need a ultrasound on their baby today, so we can be sure of the due date, double check the sex of the baby-they were told its a girl , and they have a few other errands that need running, so Im off and flying.
STAMPING TAKE ME AWAY!
Its times like this I wish I were like I Dream of Genie. I could just blink and what I needed done, could be done. Running errands means NO stamp time, which means Lauren may get CRANKY! LOL! We don’t want that.
Speaking of flying………….I made this little Fairy Tin during the first 10 minutes of Dr. Phil. Yes, I watch him and I love him. No idea why, I just do.
So this is what you can make before a commercial break!
Anyway-I used the Fairy from Elzybells. She is just perfect! I stamped her onto my sweet blush cardstock, and colored with Copic Markers. Added some stickles to her dress, and wings. Easy peasy!
This is a great tin for Craft Fairs too! Every kid needs a tooth tin. Speaking of which, have you LOOKED at your kids saved teeth after a good year? EW! Not sure how important it is to me to save them. Its quite gross! I think my mom saved my teeth, and I have NO DESIRE to ever see them again. So with luck I may be able to get rid of my kids after a few years, right? Does that make me a bad mom for even considering that?
As it is I have to “secretly” toss some of their art work! GASP! I KNOW!! Its truly terrible, but c’mon, some of the 100 scribbles aren’t as important as the Mother’s Day card they made, or the drawing of X. I am selective and save what I will look back on in 20 years and say “Oh! Remember when….” Its a fire hazard to save every little piece of paper they scribble upon.
OK way off track. I guess Im gushing out all my mommy guilt on you all today. I can’t be alone!
Back to the subject.
To make her a TOOTH fairy I just trimmed out a tooth shape from shimmery white cardstock. Free hand. Not too shabby eh?
Another view.
She still looked a bit plain” so I used Melanie’s “What’s in your tin 1” that my dear friend Juanita surprised me with :D, to frame it in subtly.
I then tried some of the Pre-inked words from JustRite Stampers. I got the Emotions set. Wow are those ever easy to use. Just place where you want, and give a tinsy push down. Perfectly inked image. I may pick up some more. Pretty cool. I decided they would be a nice addition to my fairy tin.
The side has some pretty trim from SEI-Au Chocolat collection, and the paper on the tins bottom is by PTI-pink patterns
That is that! Granted I didn’t decorate the INSIDE-yet! Like I said this was a BEFORE 1st commercial break project. I need a little more time to do the inside.
My point is you don’t need TONS of MY TIME to make something 😀 Start with a plan, then execute!
OK now Im off! I do have a FAB-U-LICOUS project of notecards I made for a friend that Ill share soon. Tomorrow maybe.

Thatrs adorable, Lauren. I do not save teeth anymore, with 4 kids I just dont. I also had to got thru 2 huge rubbermaid totes and toss tons of schoolwork. I wont save everything anymore, either. I now just keep the most important and I do feel guilty throwing out stuff, but there will always be more!
I feel your guilt over tossing the ‘art’ and I told my mother in law about it one day. She had the best suggestion ever……I used the art as wrapping paper for many a grandparent, aunt, uncle. It helped keep the fridge clean and make their day. You could also use some of the ‘art’ in scrap booking and even cards, I guess, as a layer or 2, depending on what it is………Love, love, love your site, you give me many laughs and tonnes of ideas. I too carry a note book or two, ideas and colour combos in one and to do list in the other…….people think I am crazy, but it works for me!

I too have always wanted to wink my eye and be dressed, clean house, cooked meal, shopping done…ect so I could enjoy all the things I want to do!! Love the tin, this would make a great gift in or a gift package…my ideas are rolling thanks Lauren.
well…we haven’t lost any teeth yet – but I can only imagine…BLECH.
As far as art…I have an art folder from last year that I went and weeded through – I didn’t get a new one for this year – so I need to do that (things are piling up) but I do weed out some of the ‘scribbly stuff’…I’ve been holding on to writing (once a week, or once every other week)- putting dates on it, so someday it’ll be fun to look back where she started and how she improved… but YEAH – every piece of paper, my house would be full! I have to sneak it though – she’s quite attached…THAT makes me feel guilty.
Good luck today – hope all goes well with the US 🙂

My husband & I had the tooth conversation on Monday night. My youngest is about to lose his 2nd tooth and hubby was asking if we should save it w/the first one. NO WAY! I told him. As it was I didn’t even want to save the 1st tooth.
I also only save the papers/projects that I think they will want to look at again when they are older. An option is to take a picture of your kids holding their art before you toss it (secretly of course). Then you will still have the memories but not the fire hazard 🙂 As they get older they will have less & less art they bring home so treasure it now.
LOVE the tooth box….♥
And I had a good laugh when reading about you dumping old teeth and drawings… 😉 I am in the exact same position! My daughter is a pack rat (even worse than me!) and she doesn’t let me throw away anything! I usually pile up most of the artwork (after preliminary sorting already! and after exposing the best ones on a board…) for the year and afterwards I look at it again and toss everything that isn’t “special”… Obviously I do that on a day that she is at school! LOL 😉
I kept my teeth as a kid and it does get really gross over time so they got dumped afterwards I think! For now I keep my kids’ teeth, I mean the ones that haven’t been swallowed or lost! (Naomi swallowed one yesterday!), but I already explained to my daughter (she knows the tooth fairy and I have some “connections”… 😉 ) that they will turn gross over time and that we will have to toss them one day…
Your so funny! I always get a good laugh when I read your blog. Most days any way…
Your tooth fairy box is cute. I only kept 2 teeth. Then when my kids were in high school, we looked thru their box.(they ea had 1 only) They thru out stuff that was silly including teeth. I kept some art work, other things I had jotted down that they said and Took pictures of some of their things to scrap. Now they are both married and gone from home. They adore the stuff I put in books for them. Don’t sweat the little things! Make it fun like you do everything else….
such a cute tin! your story about the teeth has me laughing! My problem is that I saved most of the teeth, but forgot to ‘label’ which ones belong to whom. Now I’ve got these ‘random’ teeth sitting there and couldn’t even begin to guess which son originally had them.
and I had to stop saving each and every piece of paper my boys did a while back. you are right – too much paper and really – what is the point? do they want to look back at EVERY single worksheet, doodle, etc. that they ever did? That loses its thrill after a while.
take care and have a wonderful day!
Lauren, About the teeth….I still have a few left from my kids (15, 14 and 8). I do have to agree, they are gross after a while. When my MIL passed away, we were cleaning her house out and guess what we found? Yes, one of my BIL’s saved teeth (he was late 20’s). GROSS!!!!!!!! I was the one who found the box and I have to tell you, it was a little disgusting:-) Needless to say, he did not want his baby teeth back. So, I will be getting rid of the remainder of my kids teeth in due time.
cute tin Lauren. I only saved the first tooth of my two kids. And for their art work I saved everything in a folder for the year, then at the end of the year we would go through the folder and pick out the special ones to keep.
Absolutely adorable. She is so cute. What a cute project to do for the kiddos. I love it.
Don’t feel bad about throwing things away. My boys are always making things at home and in church. I was told that someone would take pictures of their kids with their pictures and then toss the picture. That means less paper in the house but you can still remember those beautiful creations they made.
What I have done since I have three boys is~ when are work comes home I tape to my kitchen cupboards and the kitchen door when it is full I take a photo of the display and then I only keep the best art work for their scrapbooks!! Of course I have to discard any projects in secret or it would be the end of the world for my 10 year old(future pack rat!)…
Hope this may give someone an idea!!
Hi Lauren..
just peeking back again to see what i’ve
missed. …inspiration!!!
You have been busy…love it ALL!!
TFS
Hi Lauren! Here’s an idea: scan the artwork you dont keep and you can keep it on CD or DVD. Less storage space and you can always look back on it. Or take a picture of it and make a file to save on computer or CD or DVD. Have a great day. CUte tin too!!! ~heidi
Lauren- don’t feel guilty. I have a friend whose parents passed away recently, and they saved everything. Now my friend has all this work of sorting through everything she ever made, and every piece of school work. Remember, lots of the stuff at school isn’t acid free…so it won’t last anyway. (especially the construction paper stuff)
As for the teeth, my belief is that is why the tooth fairy was invented. The tooth fairy comes and takes the tooth and leaves a quarter (or however much $) in its place. 🙂
Love the little tooth fairy box! I definitely wouldn’t be able to finish that in 10 min though.
Lauren you are adorable and oh so funny I love your blog it makes me laugh and some times makes me cry it is life unedited and I like that.
I also long to be Jeannie of Samantha (wiggle that nose so cute). Oh well we will just have to do things the old fashion..lol
I love that tin it is so sweet and at least it is cutter than the teeth which will really help down the road “wink”. Yes Mommy through away your teeth but look at this adorable tin..lol’
Oh I love Dr. Phil too. Maybe it is because of his no nonse approach to life. The day he said ,”Common sense is not that commom these days” I was clapping and cheering at the TV….lol.
Lauren keep on keeping it real I so enjoy you. Take care of yourself.

Super cute. You really cant keep everything. Where would we put it all? Pick and choose, like you said. -Molly B
How precious! I think this is the cutest little tin ever!
Eww, you saved their teeth?! Ewww. As for the artwork, why don’t you take a picture of it before you toss it. Then you still “have” it and can look back on it someday. Or you can create a collage of their artwork from each year without the fire hazaard.
Adorable tooth fairy tins!
Hi! Just a suggestion…once a month (or less, depending on how much artwork your kids create) post it all up on the fridge or a wall and take a picture of it. This way, you can remember all of the stuff after you toss it and you won’t have a million pictures of your kids holding every single thing they ever created!
How funny reading your justification for throwing away your kids’ “art” projects :O) I find myself needing to share that guilt as well…and always over-justifying.
I saved my daughter’s teeth also, and every time I bump into them in a box, I shake my head in wonder as to why I thought I needed to save them! I suppose I’ll get rid of them some day. I saved her umbilical cord scab when it fell off also…now THAT is disgusting! It’s even taped in her baby book! LOL My mom did the same with us kids so I felt like I had to follow suit I suppose.
Love the tin you created! How fun!
I’m going to gross everyone out too. I am 35. My brother is 38. My mother still has our baby teeth. I told her not to long ago, they would be the first thing to go when she is gone, unless she does me the favor and throws them out first. That is one family tradition that I did not keep. I do however save alot of artwork. I keep the good stuff though. I go through every couple of months and weed down the pile and make it smaller.
Love the tin!!!
I do not save my daughters teeth. They gross me out. I don’t know why, but they just do. Even thinking about keeping them and coming across them years later makes my stomach turn! Enough about that though…
I also only keep my favorite art pieces that my daughter has made. My best friend came up with a great idea to keep all her son’s artwork and still keeping space… taking pictures of everything! This way everything is burnt on CD and she doens’t feel bad about tossing the restaurant menus that he has colored on.
This is sooo darling!! What a cute project!! Love the concept and you’ve decorated it beautifully!! 🙂
great information you write it very clean. I am very lucky to get this tips from you.
