Its not easy fitting everything into life in just 24 hours a day.
If you are like me you’d rather be blog hopping than literally hopping, and getting fit.
Think of the number of hours you spend ONLINE? And we all say we have NO TIME to exercise! I decided that was a LAME excuse. I use to spend more time answering emails than taking care of myself. Now 4 weeks in, and I am actually looking forward to my time to work out. I feel weird if I don’t!
Well since I am on a mission to get in shape, and no matter what make 1 hour a day to do that., I figured it would be great to make the most of my time doing it. I have a solution that will allow you to combine the best of both worlds!
Blogger-cise!
What does this mean? Well exercise WHILE you surf your favorite blogs, update your own, answer emails, or any other online task you may have!
Here is a photo!
What on earth are you looking at?
I saw a episode on 20/20 about a company that ordered special desks for their workers so that they could WALK on a treadmill ALL day as they worked! They had them special made and the workers all got in shape walking at a slow pace 8 hours a day! Personally that seemed exhausting, but I thought it was a cool concept.
I looked at my elliptical machine and asked myself HOW I could do that too.
SO I got my laptop, and using my sons (one size fits all adjustable) belt I strapped my laptop to my machine!!! It works great!!
View while ON the machine
I pop on my head phones, and get moving!! I can now go really fast and type at the same time. I have been doing my blog posts WHILE I workout for an hour for over 2 weeks now! The time goes much faster when you surf the Internet! No pages to turn on a magazine, and great reading! You get use to it quickly too. Just go to your favorite places, read and work. Before you know it an hour has flown by and you have not only made the step to getting healthy and in shape but you got in your computer time too!!
Now seriously how can there be any excuses?
Just strap it to the back, resting on the tray, snuggly!
Pretty cool huh?
I hope you give it a try if you have longed to get fit but want your computer time too. OR if you thought there weren’t enough hours in a day! You deserve to give yourself TIME! The healthier we are the better we feel. I never thought I’d feel great giving up coffee but I do.
OK enough of the exercise blah blah blah, I just wanted to share my fun find with all of you and hope it helps someone out there who may be wanting to make a life change too!
I will be back later with more peeks 😀
Later-

You are beyond belief! “Where there’s a will, there’s a way”!!! And you found it…
Amazingly NOT surprising, as you know how to do EVERYTHING!!!
Have a wonderful Sunday 😀
Wow, good for you! I don’t have one of those exercise machines, although I’ve wanted one for quite awhile. You’re right, it’s hard to have time to do both computer and exercise. Your solution is great!
-Adriel
Wow! Lauren — this is seriously cool! Have you shown your design to anyone in the manufacturing world, yet? I think you are on to something. Health clubs in the cities should have these… it would beat TV hands down! Even if you can’t type, just reading on the treadmill or whatever equipment would be very cool!
Wish I could try it!
Julie
You are too funny. What a great idea. Im glad you are feeling great with all of your hard work. -Molly B
I think this is such an interesting and creative idea that I have sent it on to Lifehacker. Don’t know if they will use it, but it seems like a great fit for them and that their readers might enjoy it.

That’s so funny…I wonder if my gym will let me bring my laptop…lol?????
Very cool, but I don’t think that I am coordinated enough to elliptical and blog at the same time…kudos to you, though! Great idea!
LOL…I have a couple of friends that do this too…IF I had one at home I’d probably try it too…haha….Happy it’s working for you! Keep up the great work!
How FUNNY!!! But, how perfect!!! Someone will see this, make it all fancy, and get a patent on it.
Forty years ago my dad bought a rider lawn mower, but back then they didn’t come with a grass catcher. He rigged something up with a huge piece of stove pipe and a burlap sack (he made me sew them for him), a few years later a very similiar (fancy) version showed up on the market.
When we see exercise machines that can hold a laptop available for purchase, we’ll know where the idea came from!
And good for you for staying committed to exercise! They say 3 weeks makes a habit. I think that if a lot of us could multi-task while exercising we would probably do it more. Especially if we could do something like catch up on all the blogs we enjoy reading.
Oh my gosh…that is hilarious…Great Idea, I might add..
You crack me up, girlfriend! Like Christine, I wonder what my gym would say if I did this. I really want a laptop for grad. school and after I show dh your post, maybe he may be more convinced that I NEED one!
Brilliant! Now I just need to get me a laptop 🙂
Seriously, what a fab idea! If I did that the whole time I surfed I’d be super thin by now!! lol!
I saw that episode of 20/20 as well and was impressed by the results! Good for you!! Keep up the great effort!!
You are an amazing woman. One who completely blows me away with your creativity and generosity.
I love this idea! The only problem for me is I don’t know how to attach my desktop to the treadmill. Ü Unfortunately, there’s no laptop in my life. LOL But how cool is this concept?
Like I said before, you are amazing and I truly enjoy reading your blog each day (even if I don’t comment) It brings a smile to my face.
Brilliant! Another good reason for me to get a laptop 😉
Good for you Lauren!! YAY!!!
Love it!~!! My only problem is that I can’t seem to read while I am bouncing up and down as in walking or the eliptical machine.
Hmmmmm, now if only I had an Elyptical machine at home…..and a laptop too! LOL! People are always surprised when I say I read while on the treadmill at the gym; apparently there are a lot of people out there who can’t read while in motion, but it definitely keeps me on the machine longer AND, I’m reading more than I have in a long time, LOVE IT! Maybe if I finally buy a laptop, (which I’m on the look out for), I’ll try this with my good old Nordic Track! Good for you Lauren, for “makin it work”, however, where ever! You go girl!
Oh my gosh, Lauren, you are something else! I laughed at first, but I LOVE ingenuity and you’ve got it!!! Now I want a laptop. Don’t think my desktop would work 🙂 …..
Awesome. I saw a runner last weekend at our local Rock and Roll Half Marathon who was running on a prosthetic leg (knee, down) and realized I was SO out of excuses! Way to go, Lauren!
Lauren, I just posted about this on my blog the other day! They do have treadmills like this and some even have the balance ball on them where you can do ball exercises. Here’s the url to the treadmill desk
http://www.treadmill-desk.com/
Now I’m really going to have to get me a treadmill…. ‘cept I have no room for one. Dang.
I guess I’ll still have to do it the old fashioned way.
I still love your invention – very clever, Chickie!
Hugs,
Great idea, Lauren!! Nothing like doing two things at once 🙂
Lauren your determination and creativity inspires me. I am going to give this a try. Your ROCK GIRL!!!!! Thanks for sharing your life journey with us.

Oh my gosh Lauren, where there’s a will there’s a way. LOL You are too funny my friend, except I love the idea. Too bad there’s no room in my house for a treadmill or anything like that.
Now that is one smart idea! I always feel like the time spent exercising is such a “waste of time”. Sure its good for you but you don’t get anything else done. I love checking out the blogs everyday and it kind of takes up your time where you are not doing anything either. When you combine the two you get the best of both. You are so smart! Thanks for sharing the pictures.
This is hilarious! I can’t believe what I’m seeing, lol!! What a great idea! My family got an elliptical several weeks ago and I used it for the second the other day. Hmm, I wonder if I could rig something like this? Oh shoot, I forgot. I need to get a laptop first, lol, then I’d be in bloggercise land!
You are brilliant! LOL Way to go in making the effort to get healthy. Now, send some of that will power this way!
Funny, thing, DH is just about to list our elliptical for sale..now, I may have to tell him not to. :oD
Oh and CONGRATS on soon becoming an aunt!! That is fantastic news! I hope this baby and your brother being in your home brings the whole family even closer together.
*hugs*
Wow!! I love the idea! My treadmill is in my scrap room, but what a wonderful thought to combine my exercise & computer time!! I will have to see what I can do about that, thank you for the idea.
that is a FANTASTIC idea! What a great way to lose some of this baby weight i’ve gained! I may have to have my hubby bring in the treadmill from the garage – it’s still too hot out there for me, but i can definitely see this working! Thanks so much!
Fantastic idea Lauren! You’re right–the time I spend on the computer I could be walking on the treadmill for an hour. I’ll have to try and strap my laptop on and try it—maybe these last 12 lbs will “blurf” off, lol!
Suzanne Dean
Brilliant!
What a great idea. We have an elliptical trainer and I usually watch a chick flick while working out though I’d much rather be surfing your blog and all my other favorites. Wish I had a laptop though. Our computer is big and bulky and I laughed picturing myself trying to balance it on the exercise machine and getting the cords to reach that far. Oh well, it’s a good idea to tuck away in case we ever get a laptop.
You are too right and absolutely too clever! If I did this, I could easily spend 2+ hours on the treadmill!!! What a great idea! Am sending my husband a link to your blog so he can see how to do this @ our house. AWESOME!!! And, honestly, Lauren, you should get in touch w/some of these exercise equipment companies & have them “Meader-ize” their equipment w/a laptop & wi-fi connections so we don’t have to strap one on, it’s already built in!!!!!!!!!!!! And throw in a TV w/built-in satellite while their at it (with TiVo)…
Great job. I have been doing this for a few years to my treadmill. I popin a movie and wham 2 hours can go by really fast. You walk at a nice even pace its better for you then sitting on your bum.
OMG- this is seriously the funniest thing- I would kill myself trying to walk a blog at the same time- god speed Lauren
okay…too cool. Now I’ve got to get my husband on board for the ultimate solution in our home. THANKS for sharing this today…very inspiring in a whole different way!
BA
I can always count on u!!!! LOL! Too bad I don’t have an elliptical.
Another one for the Queen… this time of blogercise!!!!!!!!!!!! I know you are one smart cookie…………
Your such a genious, now only getting my husband to think that I absolutely “need” a laptop. Give me ideas for that!
You are an absolute genius! Although now I have no reason not to exercise! 😉 Guess I better get off my bottom and get to walking!!
Wow I am totally amazed that you can get used to reading while your walking or stepping like that! Good for you that you feel better. Wonderful idea thanks for sharing it!
Oh my gosh, this cracked me up!!! Hilarious!! Lucky for em I only have a desktop so I still have an “excuse” but I did do my dreaded treadmill today already, so I’m off the hook:-)
~Kelly
What a great idea, maybe I could pull the old exercise bike up to my computer desk, thanks for the inspiration.
Oh my gosh! Too funny! I think I need a treadmill or elliptical so I can get skinny as I surf the internet too!
OMG how funny is that? But it’s awesome what a fab idea. I was actually surprised it works! WOO HOO!
This is a great idea. I sit at a computer all day at work, and I’ve always said that we need to invent a computer that is powered by a stationary bike. The computer wouldn’t work unless you pedalled, or had a certain amount of pedalling logged!! Just think how fit everyone would be!
Genius !!!!!!!!!!
Well you just plain rock! haha! I don’t have a machine eihter, I do videos or litreally chase my kids outside, but this is an excellent idea!
What a great idea. It certainly combines the best of both worlds. Only a woman would multitask this well. Wonderful way to buse both tools. thanks for the inspiration.
Heather
That is a fabulous idea! Maybe I would actually USE my treadmill more if I could do my blog surfing and exercise at the same time.
thank you for sharing this with me… I will follow in your foot steps as I do need to lose a lot of weight that I have put on due to sheer neglect on my part with my body!
Cheers
G
now you’re a little over the edge-next you’re going to be wearing a super woman outfit. actually i think you’re hideing one under your clothes anyway…….
LOL! That is a great way to get two things done at once! You need to have the crown for being the queen of multi-tasking!! LOL! Good job on keeping up on your promise to take care of yourself too!
Lauren – that is an AWESOME idea – my current laptop may be too big I’m still going to give it a try and strap/attach it to my elliptical – it may make me work out more often and longer. Thank you for this inspiration!!!
I looked at this and thought – what kind of crazy contraption is this!!??? Then I read your post. We have a Dreadmill that I have not gotten on in months and months – I think I will give your kooky idea a try – if it gets me walking it has to be good – right?
Thanks for the wacky inspiration!
Anna
Okay…that is just too funny!! If I had a laptop…I would sooo be doing this! :0)
OMG_osh that is hilarious…now I know I need one!
TFS
Way to go!
You had me cracking up when I saw this, but ya know you make perfect sense! We sit here all day blogging, posting & creating cards & projects & we have no time to exercise, now ala Lauren we have a quick fix! Thanks for sharing, hahaha!!! lately all I have been doing is looking & reading & not even commenting much, so today I just had to comment on this great idea. Way to go!
Girl, I am giving you the innovation award of the year!!
You are crazy! I would go crashing down on my face!
OMW! I may have to get a laptop! I haven’t been on my treadmill in ages, but I always read books when I was. What a terrific idea!
BTW, when I hit tab to get to the ‘post a comment’, it takes me to the top of the post. I have to back up and use my mouse.
LOL!!! You are too funny. Not only are you creative, but you must be very coordinated. I think if I tried to hook my laptop to the treadmill, I’d end up face first on the mat. You go girl!
I will have to see if DH has any bungie cords or something like that……
I just sit on the couch to blurf anyhow, might aswell get up and move !
[…] I have an ear piece so when I talk on the phone I can either workout on the elliptical machine (blogger-cise) , or should I have to, clean or something like that, I am hands free. Its all about […]
