Well today the kids begin another day of their summer swimming lessons. Yesterday Noah did awesome. Amber wouldn’t go in past her knee’s. She did practice in the tub though! LOL! She was a little scared, so I didn’t push it.
I have to bury my head and NOT watch since they teach them to go under water. That freaks me out. So I will be sketching some layouts, while the lessons go on. Looks like Amber will be sitting with me. Let’s hope she gets more comfortable. Alexa doesn’t start her lessons till next week. Now I am really nervous she will freak, since Amber did. Alexa can surprise you though, so we shall see.
One of my sketches from my kids being at the lake the other day, was this one using Hit the Beach. I did a couple sketches that I was excited about executing. More to come.
This is an older set, but one of my very favorites.
I made 10 of these for Kim @ MFT for her store samples. They look cool all together though.
I’m really not into mass producing, but ya gotta do it sometimes.
All the paper is by Memory Box. I colored with my Copic Markers (of course). Rather than layer her on cardstock, I just colored my border. So I cheated a little 😀 I was restricted to what I could use, but think these are cute all the same.
Now I have another new release sample
This set is so super cute. I flocked my bunny 😀 I just HAD to. I have had MANY people email me about how I do this. I just take a 2 way glue pen, and evenly color over what I want flocked, then apply the flock. Tap of excess, done!
This paper is the Hansel collection from Piggy Tales. I loved the fresh summer colors for this. That sentiment is so great for MANY scenario’s. New job, life bumps in the road, someone making a change or tough decision……………just so cute. Oh and lets not forget they can make super cute BOY Easter gifts 😀
Well I must run. We are going out the door in a few and I still have friends b-day cards to do, some get well cards, and I am first up for the Papertrey Ink reveal! YIKES!
Then I got some Lizzie Anne SCREAMING to be inked (wait till you see the new stuff!!). Oh and I so want to use more Magnolia, and Bella’s and Unity………………………do you think I can find a way to extend the hours in my day? Summer is just SO hard to get anything done here. I like to be with the kids and out of the house while the weather is good.
Seems like everyone is gone as well. Cyber world is awfully quiet these days.
Well enjoy your day!!! Whatever you are up to.
Later

These are really cute! I love the color combo on the beach card. The flocking looks great on the bunny too! Never enough time…but time with the kids is priceless! Great cards!
Love the beach card. Great sketch. That little bunny is adorable. I can’t wait to see what else he will be up to later down the line. Have a great day. -Molly B
Super cute cards as always!!
Kim is so blessed to have you creating with her stamps! These are awesome, the dp could not be more perfect! And when you figure out how to squeeze more hours out of the day, PLEASE share! LOL
Oh my, you are so talented. How do you come up with such great stuff day after day. Do you ever lose your mojo? Thank you so much for sharing! XO, Mimi
These are both cute, but I am LOVIN’ that beach one! And yes, they DO look so cute together!
Your kids will eventually enjoy swimming even if it’s a bit scary now! My kids are fish … we never put them in swimming lessons, just the ones they have through school for gym class, but they both took to it like fishes to water! It’s a great skill to have though.
Love your summer cards.. love that DP and hey, that woman looks like she’s in pretty good shape in ‘soak up the sun’!! If only I could look like her!! Love your bunny. I have to invest in some flock.
I am doing swim lessons with my daughter, Bright — who started out “scared” and then warmed up to the ultra friendly teacher… and actually put her face in the water! It does get better! I agree — I am scared about kids inhaling water… but everyone says if you just dunk a little one and smile as they come up, it gives them confidence and they learn what to do. I am WAY too chicken to do that with my 2 year old!
One thing is that I used to NEVER put my own head under water, and the kids saw that and developed their own phobias about going under because I never did. Now that I say, ok, I am doing this to set an example… and that is when Bright became able to do it. Perhaps that kids pick up our fears???
Hugs — you are doing an awesome job, Mom!
Love your cards Lauren, and I’m glad to hear you’re thinking up and drawing sketches while your kids are swimming!
great cards! Your kids will do fine, given time, and will have learned a lifelong skill! Keep up the great work!
Too adorable, I love all these cute samples!!! The kids will do fine, we are all that way when they start out – I think we worry way more than they do – LOL! *STAMPIN HUGS* Alex
Both of your cards are adorable!! I love how you colored around the image instead of layering it. Awesome!! I’m sure your kids will do fine. I am a swimmer and every child starts off scared at first but just give them time and they will be ok. 🙂
Great cards Lauren. I love all the combinations of colors. It seems that whenever I go to the store to buy papers, I get all intimidated by the VAST selections that I don’t end up with anything! I tend to buy packs (mat stacks) of paper, just so I don’t have to pick and choose. I love how you always use the different patterns together and it looks so cohesive. Good luck with the extended hours… If you find a way to make your days longer (without staying up till all hours like I did last night) please share! I could use longer days too…
Lauren: Darling cards. My son had problems w/swimming lessons when he was about three or so – the water was too cold, etc. We just let him sit it out until he decided to join in the fun. He has been a great swimmer since.
Cute Cards..
Great colors!
Stamped images are Adorable.
Flocking on the Bunny looks terrific!
*Swimming lessons will get better…
Once they are comfortable in the
water…They will do fine!!
Oh, I remember my oldest…. loved the water – hated the lessons. He was excited to go but once we got there – forget it. I don’t think he got used to it until he was 5. Ahhhh, the memories.
I know why it’s so quiet on cyber world, at least for me – it’s sharing the computer with all the kids. Heck, I even have to fight with my 3 year old for computer time. It’s like that today – raining outside. When it’s nice, I have to be outside with my youngest. Maybe I need to get a blackberry 🙂
Your cards are darling and I’m looking forward to seeing the new PTI sneak peeks and other new releases.
Summer Hugs,
Renee
These are great, so love that beach card, the stamps are cool and love the papers!
THis is really cute. Love the colors. They are both really cute!
Love all the cards as usual – you turn out such gems. I think you need to get in there with your kids and show them you are chilled about water and dipping under it even if you aren’t totally – hopefully easier to handle than mice! My niece and nephew had their Dad making games, blowing bubbles etc and even though my sister hates getting her face wet she joined in and they all had fun. Both kids are great swimmers now.
Both of your cards are great! I like the little bunny one the best! There’s just something about those headless chicks by MFT…I have some but they aren’t my favorites! Your card is cute though. I do like the images that you can pretend she has a head by using a hat. I know, I’m wierd!
These are awesome. I love the beach one….the paper is great. And that little bunny is so sweet. Joan
Both cards are fabulous!! Love them Lauren! I’ve been having fun with those bunnies too!
Swimming lessons are wise and good! If they happen to fall into water, they’d know what to do. So yay for swimming lessons!
Love these Lauren! great colors, and I picked up some of that Hansel paper in Manchester 🙂 I love it.
Hope you had a good day with the kids!
I love both of your cards, Lauren!! Such cute images and pretty papers & layouts!!
These are all soooo cute. I’d better go find that old MFT set. It’s buried around here somewhere. *starts frantic-ly digging thru stuff* 🙂
I had to laugh at the swimming lesson story! My boys (twins) are now 18, but when they started swimming lessons many moons ago, they were into a cartoon called Street Sharks. So I made them street sharks outfits for Halloween and when they were reluctant to go in the pool I told them that if they wanted to be Street Sharks for halloween they had to learn to swim, because sharks could swim! It worked!
I love your kid stories, it brings back memories of when mine were little! And I love your cards too, great inspiration!
Love these cards, especially the first one. The layout and colours are gorgeous.
These cards look just so summery in the blues Lauren! I love the MFT beach one with the raised circles – and super DP.
The bunny is just so cute pulling at his longed for carrot!
Lauren! I CASEd your MFT card sketch bcause I loved it so much. You can see it in my SCS gallery here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/975528?cat=500&ppuser=148552
Thanks for being so inspirational!
Lauren, the way we got our kids to put their heads under water was 2 fold. 1-they wanted swim masks, the one that goes over their noses. I think it makes it feel better that the water isn’t actually touching them. Then we put up a finger under water, like a 1 a 2 or 3, etc and had them look under water to say what it was. Initially they can just put their face in on top of the water. Then as they got more confident we would use one hand to cover the finger and put the other one down below so they had to go all the way under to see it. My oldest who is 6 loves this game, can swim under water (with no lessons) the width of my pool in less that 2 weeks. My youngest who is 3 will play the game, but is still too afraid to actually take her feet off the ground to try to swim. Good luck.
