UGH! Sorry I missed the MFT party last night. Did you make it to the release? What did you get???
Jason got an urgent work assignment last night, and it required him to be online while on the phone! He is a computer geek 😀 I was freaking out that I couldn’t get online, but hey his job pays the bills. He had to do customer support till late in the evening. Poor guy. He has been coming home and pulling some extra hours from here since work is so crazy busy. I am happy he can work from home like that through rather than be stuck at work an hour away all night. I am really looking forward to the long holiday weekend with him & the kids. We are celebrating at my mom’s. I swear I only see her like 2-3 times a year. LIFE. Gets too crazy sometimes. Good thing for holidays. Gives you a reason to STOP and make time for family.
My PTI newsletter goes LIVE late tonight 😀 Im so nervous! LOL! I know it seems silly, but the expectations of keeping up with the greats is a little scary at first. I hope you all get to check it out and like what I have to share 😀
Well today is a preview for one of the 3 sets being released from C.C. Designs.
This set is called Pretty Kitties! Do you want to win your own set?
CHECK THIS OUT<——–
When I saw the princess one, I had to use my SEI Au Chocolat paper! Its just fit for her Royal Kitty. With pink & brown and a dash of bling, who wouldn’t love her?
Then I thought of the cat loving the mouse. Or maybe loved chasing the mouse 😀
This used the Pretty Kitty set and Big Ol’ Backgrounds in hearts The paper collection is by Scenic Route (I’m in love with that stuff). This is a rather funky card, and layout. But fun too.
When I saw the mouse image I was so excited. Its WAY cute. Cathy Indelicato has a card on the ATS Blog with the little hole for the mouse-LOVE that idea!! TOO cute!!While I HATE mice this one is too cute to not love.
You know I had to give it it’s own card!
I have mice on the brain!!
Yes, they are BAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Last time we got rid of them with DeCon. Love that stuff. Well we now have bought MORE stock in it.
Last week (about midnight) before going to bed (yes I am a night owl) I went upstairs to check on the kids. We do this every-night before bed.
Well Alexa is STILL awake-squished herself up to the top of her bed, and is hugging her pillow with WIDE eyes.
I said “Alexa are you OK? What’s the matter?”
She pointed to the corner of her room and said “Im scared of the RAT!” Now the WAY she said it was so soft and full of expression. It was really cute, and scary!!!!!!
“I said “WHAT?! The rat? What rat? Where?
As she pointed that thing went running towards her closet, near ME! I jusmped up onto her bed and began to screech! OK so NOT a good parent thing to do. We are suppose to act OK when things are not, and here I am bouncin on her bed screeching as loud as I can “Jay!!!!!!!!!!!! Get up here right now there is a mouse! EEEEKKKKK!!!”
So he comes running up stairs. Now the mouse is under Alexa’s doll bed. 3 cats surround the thing. Alexa and I are sitting at the top of her bed, and she is hugging her pillow. Jay moved the doll bed, and the thing goes to run. He begins to smack it with his shoe! I begin FREAKING out (and poor Alexa is freaking out. I was NO help!!) So I put the pillow over her face and screeched don’t look! Don’t Look!!
The mouse runs into a shoe in her closet and Jay picks it up and tosses it into the middle of the room! OMG! I could NOT believe he did that. I wanted to DIE. So its begins to skitter and the cat hunt is on. It runs right under the closet door.
DARN! So he gets the DeCon (the kids closet doors lock from way up top) and he puts it in the closet. The cats just sit and wait by the door. Alexa says ‘Where is the rat?” I told her daddy killed it and its gone. Sometimes white lies are a OK thing. I know I wasn’t going to sleep if I knew a mouse awaited in my closet. I didn’t sleep for a week the last time! I felt awful for freaking her out even more. That was NOT a good influence. In my defense I am usually REALLY good about not showing my kids something freaks me out. We deal with BIG stuff here, but when its in the rodent family and is actively running around my home I can’t help what human nature takes over. I know it may even seem silly but I have issues with rodent. BIG ONES!
So the next morning I awake to a faint squeaking noise. My eyes pop open, like a horror film! I bolt up in bed and listen. Yes its a squeak. I go to get out of bed and I have 3 cat tails twitching crazily from under the bed skirt. I shake Jay awake, and tell him “I think there is a mouse under the bed”
He gets up and sure enough the cats had some fun, but didn’t finish him off. Jay grabbed his work gloves to take it outside. He said Oh! Its tiny. He is just a baby. No worries.
NO WORRIES??? WHAT? A baby!! you know what that means? That he has at LEAST 6 sibling babies somewhere with him! How can he say No worries!!
Anyway-we have DeCon everywhere and haven’t seen a thing since. All I know is this is NOT cool!!!!!!!!!!!
I have no idea why we have more mice NOW! Its summer. Why can’t they go find some dump to feed off? You would think my house were a pit, but it really isn’t. I clean EVERYDAY!! My cabinets get cleaned, I wash my floors every other day, I vacuum twice at day-morning and evening, and I have 3 cats ready to pounce, and a dog that has no idea what they are doing but wants to join in the fun anyway!
UGH! Well that is all for now.
I hope you all have a FABULOUS 4th of July! Check in later today or tomorrow for the newsletter!! And pray these mice are GONE 😀

Great cards, can’t wait for the release. What a story. I do know what you mean about it beign summer and why are they in the house. We are having the same problem in PA. We always have them in the winter but usually summer is quiet. Well not this year. However we have added cats to our household over the spring time so I hope this helps with the issue in the winter. Good luck with evicting the mice.
Lauren,
I feel for you mice give me the creeps. I would let you borrow our cat she is a killer. If she was an outside cat everything in our yard would be dead!!!!!!!!!! I bet they are back again with all the rain & storms we have had, and more on the way. I do love the cheese card, super cute. I hope you and your family have a super 4TH of July weekend!!!!!!!!
Mice Be Gone!!!!!!!!!!!
Donna :]
No wonder you have the Pretty Kitty set on the brain, lol! I HATE rodents, too. The couple of times we have had to deal with them though, my DH husband sounded just like Jay – “Oh, it’s just a baby!” And he picks them up (with work gloves, of course)! Thank god for men! I’m so glad there’s someone to do that stuff for me! Cute cards!
THese cards are just too cute, mouse and all!!!
I soo feel for you with the mice. THey are definitely not on the top of my list (well, maybe on the top of my dislike list!!!). Those beady little eyes just give me the creeps!!! I sure hope that they go away this time and do not return!!!
And what do you mean Computer Geek? What would you do without us “geeks”? LOL!!! (I know that you mean though about it’s nice he can work from home. I’m sitting at my dining room table working as I type this!!!) LOL!!!
Hope you and the family have a wonderful 4th of July!!!
Love that swiss cheese card! How cute! I would have never thought of making one like that. Have a great holiday!
hahahahahahaha, your stories crack me up! And love the cards as always. What did you do for the blingy flower – did it come that way or did you apply glitter???
Yeah so you have mice on your cards and you’re calling them cute and I’m thinking “Wait a minute, doesn’t she hate mice as much as I do…?” Yup, you do! blahhh! I am so sorry. I understand the bad-example-freak-out, ME TOO!
But the swiss cheese card is pretty cute, mice and all! LOL!
Your poor Alexa and poor you! I would freak! Why aren’t your cats catching them?! This is a gross story —My Dad plays tennis and leaves his big tennis bag in the garage. Well, he discovered a litter of baby mice in there!! He had been carrying that bag around to work and back… who knows for how long!?! I am grossed out just thinking about this! I hope you have no more mice and have a happy 4th!
OHHH I had to giggle even my DH came over to see what I was giggling about and he said WOW she is brave cause if it would be you I know she would have heard your screams! LOL SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TRUE.. I can’t even see mice, rats on TV!! I squeal like I’m gonna die! LOL.. I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOPE they leave your house ASAP OH MY GOSH.. GET THEM OUTTTTTTT!!!
I love your cards ohh I was looking at the kitties .. I was thinking what would they look like with some flock??hmmmm 🙂 Have a wonderful and safe 4th love!! 🙂
Oh my Goodness! That is too funny! I mean, not funny that you have a mouse because I know that stinks, but I can just see the whole thing just like you described it. I try to be the brave mom too, but spiders do the same thing to me. Good luck getting rid of them!
What beautiful cards. I absolutely love the swiss cheese one. Have a happy 4th.
What a funny story!! My experience with mice is that you must have an opening somewhere where they can get in. Do you have a garage connected to your house? I do, that’s where they were getting in at my house (putting DeCon out there stopped them from coming in). When I was a kid I remember they got in through a gap in the wall where the drier vented to the outside. At my first house we moved a big pile of fireplace wood and ended up with them inside. Think about things like that to find your source. It’s been years since I’ve had a mouse in the house, but every time I hear a noise I think “could it be?”
I think you should give Jay that mouse card you made!!! Very cute!
Debbie
Oh, you poor thing…I just got such a clear picture of you and Alexa in that bed huddled together…I would have been right there with you!!!
I got two small sets at the MFT release last night…Call Me and I’m Pullin’ For Ya. I also got a black Spica glitter pen that I’ve been looking for so…I’m thrilled!
Have a better day today!
When you tell your stories, it’s like I’m right there with you. I’m sorry they’re back again. I wonder if it’s because of the rains?
Love your cards, especially the cheese one – very cute!
Gotta run,
Hugs,
Renee

Won’t talk about the mice, eeeee.
Back to your third paragraph, to quote “expectations of keeping up with the greats is a little scary at first”. Lauren, Lauren, Miss Lauren, don’t you understand you ARE one of the great!
Your cards are fantastic as usual! 🙂 Your story had me cracking up. Not because you had to go through it but because I would’ve done the EXACT same thing. I could just see me doing it! I’m glad that the mouse is taken care of but I know you’re wondering about the sibblings. Have a great 4th!!
Very cute cheese and mouse card! I don’t know anybody who likes “real” mice but they are cute in print. Hopefully you got rid of yours for good – Enjoy the holiday weekend.
Marta
Lauren, you silly girl! Don’t you realize by now that YOU are one the greats?! Your PTI newsletter is going to be a mega hit!
Your cards are all just wonderful, but that piece of swiss cheese is just the absolute best bit of cuteness!
Hope the mice are gone soon!
Holly
Great story and great card! I don’t know why, but those cute little suckers freak me out, too! One night in the middle of the night, I get up to get a drink and see one ON TOP OF MY TOASTER! It looked at me and then carried on as if I was a friend, frolicking in and out of the toaster now, getting crumbs out. I know you are dying at the thought. I promptly threw the toaster away, but couldn’t catch the mouse.
The next day I put out humane traps and the following morning, my daughters and I (DH was out of town of course) had a mouse release party in a field near our neighborhood. We caught 3 in all and haven’t seen any since. (It was a couple of years ago.) The party was a great way to start the day, as we were SO excited. The mouse SHOT out of the trap like it’s life depended on it and bounded for the weeds. I didn’t have to beg ANYONE to get out of bed and get dressed that morning!
All of these are wonderful, Lauren!! I especially love your big cheese!! Lol
You missed your calling…you should be an author…what a great story and I am so happy it was not my house you were writing about. I am so surprised that you had mice when you have cats. The one time we had them, the cats delivered them to me. uugh! Best of luck on the mouse free house.
We’ve had mice a few times and I know it’s not from your house not being cleaned. The first time was because they cleared a field near our house to build an apartment building – so they had to find a new home. Guess they liked mine! And I think they love that there’s always cat and/or dog food around.
Be careful with the DeCon though! If your cat or dog eat a mouse that ate the poison, it’s just as good as eating the poison itself!
I hate, hate, hate mice myself, so I understand your pain! I used to have snakes (36 of them) and made my husband feed them b/c I hate the vermin so much! Love your little slice of cheese card though…too cute and clever, like they ate the holes in the cheese themselves! Ha! :o)
Love all your cards but poor you with those mice. Sounds like all those pretty cats need to turn into rodent killers! Mind you most cats seem to play with them and make things worse!
Oh your swiss cheese card is too awesome!♥ 😀
I can’t believe the mice are back! You must have some cracks in your foundations or something like that for them to get inside!? It’s crazy in a house with 3 cats!
Maybe your house is too clean and that’s why they like it so much there! LOL 😉
How do you find the time to vaccuum twice a day and mop the floors every other day!??… *jaw drops*…
I hope you can solve the problem soon!
Enjoy your long week-end in family! 🙂
Sorry to hear about your rat poblem. It is the year. We just discovered a huge ant hill near our house and realized that is why we have so many ants in our kitche, I know, ugh!!!
Love the cards, C.C.Designs is great. The cat is adorable. I saw your cheese card on the ATS blog and thought it was so adorable but didnt’ realize it was yours until I saw it on your blog. So, cute.
I know your PTI newsletter is going to be great. I will be anxiously awaiting it’s arrival in my inbox.
We had a huge mouse problem in the winter. We laid glue traps every night and caugt something almost every night! One night we caught 3 on the same trap. (they’re not smart critters, that’s for sure.)
Our cat helped some.
Now I think we have some in the ceiling of the den. The den was clearly a do it yourself thing by the previous owner. Then Just last night I was sitting here and I heard a “plunk” from inside the piano…I’m afraid to look inside it.
Forgot to say I just love you cheese card. It’s too cute!!
Lauren I love all the kitty cards. Visit your site everyday several times.
You poor thing – hang in there! We live where it is not uncommon to occasionally have “visitors” in your house and I also get the heebee jeebees!
oh god that cheese card is fabulous, I love it, wow again
I have passed on an award, if you would like to claim it Lauren, please visit my blog, hugs
Alex xx
Lauren,
The cheese card is awesome. Great idea!!
Poor Alexa. I know how you feel. I have a big problem with mice too. I am terrified of them. I would have moved by now though. 🙂 That is really odd that they are in upstairs bedrooms. Are the kids taking food up there? The DeCon usually does the job well. Just be careful your pets don’t get it. I really hope you get rid of them soon. By the way nice job on the cards!
omg, I’m LOL at the whole bit about you jumping up on the bed shrieking! I would have done the same thing! We have mice here too, but so far they are only in the walls, and I only hear one occasionally. I know they are here though because our vanity is open in the back to the wall (meaning they can get into the drawers – nice, eh?), and one day I opened the drawer to find an entire box of preparation H suppositories chewed through ! Apparently the mouse was having some problems. LOL! Good luck with getting the others!
I freak out about rodents too, you’re right, it’s human nature 🙂
These are ALL adorable cards!!
I love the princess kitty one…
so sweet…lovin’ the sparkle!
The block of cheese..too cute!
*But the REAL ones aren’t that cute…huh!
Sorry to hear that they came to visit
with you again….oh-no!!! I hope that
you are able to get rid of them fast!!
*A very Happy 4th of July..to you and your family too!!
Dee
Oh my gosh Lauren, I am so sorry the mice are back. You can borrow my 5 cats. At least one of them likes to decapitate mice. I swear I have not had mice inside the house since we got the second cat; the walls yes, but inside the house no. I think the recon teams have notified everyone there are decapitating cats in the house and to stay clear. Your story is hilarious the way you tell it. In real life, I’m there with Alexa. In fact, I’m behind her. Alexa had better be shielding me. 🙂
Cute cards, mouse one and all.
Hi Lauren,
Sorry to hear that the mice are back. We had the same problem a short time ago. A friend told us to plug every little crevice and pipe access point in the outside walls with either steel wool or scrunched up bits of aluminum fly screening. Also discovered that the ventilation vents in the interior walls (our house is built of 2 brick layers with a cavity in between them) only had a large-ish grid so put a wire screen layer on those too. We did all of this, and, so far – 2 months and it’s winter here in Australia – no more visitors 🙂
I actually think the mice look quite sweet but their habits are disgusting!
Lauren,
Cute cards and fwiw, I don’t like mice either. We live in a new area so we get them alot since the new construction has taken over their area. We use the glue traps in the garage to get them. My 9 yo still laughs his fool head off at me running away as fast as I could while dh chased me with a glue trap with a mouse in it. . .my 9 yo was probably 4 at the time and still cracks up at it. I always get teased about how they didn’t know I could run so fast.
We went through that in December when I brought our tree home from a farm. Apparently FULL of field mice. hahaha
Anywhoooooooooo those humane traps work well…
You poor thing.
Hugs… and cute mouse card.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh – I totally feel for you! I cannot stand CATS but let me tell you, I’d forgo all allergies and buy one if I had to get rid of some mice! I would call pest control or whatever as soon as humanly possible – yuk!! And you still are able to crank out some adorable cards – I gotta give you props for that!!! 🙂
I so enjoy your blog. You never know when you will be entertained by one of your adorable stories. You tell them so well. I almost feel silly sitting here by myself and laughing because you tell the story so well and I can just picture you jumping on Alexa’s bed screaming. I too, try and be brave in front of my boys. I used to hate bugs and one time a grasshopper landed on my little boy. Normally I would scream and freak out until someone got it off but I calmly and quietly flicked it off before he got too scared. I could see he was going to do something but after seeing mommy not getting upset – he didn’t get upset. Now a mouse running in my house – well… I don’t know if I could calmly flick that away. I think I would do what you did and scream and jump on furniture.
The first card is too cute, love the princes kitty and all the other sparkle and bling, great coloring on the second and your cheese card is way too cute! Love hearing about your adventures with the mice, wish you all the best at getting rid of them though, I can only imagine how much that must bother you!
