First I want to thank each and every one of you for the encouragement re: teaching classes at the LSS. I have tossed this idea around and you are right! Life is too short! Why not give it a try? I decided YES!!! I am going to try teaching a class at The Paper Tree in Manchester NH.
Now I need to brainstorm some fabulous template for the first Scor-Pal class ! I will call Michelle today and give her my YES! I think I will do my first class on May 31st. If she has it open. Details to follow. I will defintely take the advice of you all, and post info about each one. I know I have a zillion questions for her, she will most likely go insane with me. I’m really excited.
Thanks to Paulette, not only is she my enabler friend, she was there as what we called my manager! LOL! She is on the outside looking in, and sees things I may not. She was very encouraging and I so appreciated that. Little does she know Im going to have to make her take my classes, for honest feedback! LOL!
OK onto today’s post.
On a sad note-speaking of Scor-Pal, my dear friend (and owner/creator of Scor-Pal) Diana, lost her fur baby Denver. Denver was a Jack Russell, Llaso Apso cross. She was 14. That is a long time to have a dog, then lose it. Just heartbreaking.
I always make cards for NOTHING, and finally wanted to make one with meaning and purpose.
I felt compelled to make her a sympathy card, but I had never made a DOG sympathy card before, so was a little un-sure what to do.
Diana had shared a photo of her with me, and I decided it would be perfect to include in the card.
This is a little peek at one of the new MFT set’s, that will release on May 4th called Friends Furever. I used the dog bone tag image. Kim at MFT gave me special permission to post this early (thank you Kim). I also used essential sentiments for the Deep Sympathy on the dog bone.
Now this set isn’t a “sad” set, its is actually a very cute set (wait till you see the other images), but I was able to get so much versatility from it. Nothing a little sponging can’t handle.
This paper is by Basic Grey-the Mellow collection. I used an EK success paw punch, and positioned everything so you can see some of the dogs on the paper through them. The AC thickers “D” is for her initial.
All in all I hope this doesn’t make her sad. I made it truly from my heart, to let her now I was thinking of her. I hope it inspires you to create something for such an occasion if you need to. I think a photo is always a great thing to be able to include with this sort of thing. This is the CLOSEST I get to scrapping!
I have a jillion things to get done for releases (YEAH!!that is a good complaint), so wish me much MOJO! I am going to need it.
Till tomorrow.

Lauren, of course this card will make Diana upset, because it is a lovely tribute to her lost Denver, and just the fact that you took the time to make one, well that will make her cry 🙂 Then as months pass, you still grieve the loss of your fur baby, but you begin to recall and talk more of good times and memories, and suddenly begin to smile when you think of your lost loved one. From my own personal loss of my fur baby, the tears never totally dry up and the empty hole in your heart never fully fills, but your life goes on and hopefully in time, Diana will take another leap of faith and bring home another fur baby.
Such a beautiful card Lauren ~ can’t wait to see the new MFT release on May 4th. My thoughts, hugs, wishes and sympathy all go to your dear friend Diana and her family.
Good gravy, girl, get some sleep! I thought I was the only crazy one up at this hour! I say go for it, too! You’ll be great! Wish I lived in N.H………
This is an awesome card, I’m sure Diana will love it, it’s just beautiful!
And congratulations on teaching your first class! I think it’s a fabulous idea!
I love this card – I hope someone makes one like this for me when my fur baby Megara (Meg) passes on. She too is 14 and has been with us since she was 8 weeks. Your card is so like a scrapbook page I think I wouldn’t want to put it in a frame.
I think this card is so very personal and sweet, I know your friend will love it, and keep it forever. My heart still hurts from losing my Juliet in January. She was a 14-yr.old Bassett, and it was the only time I’ve lost a pet. You did a thoughtful thing, I’m sure she’ll cherish it. (Wish you were closer to me- I’d love to attend your class!) Hugs!
That is a beautiful card for Diana. How sad that she lost her dog. I dread that day so badly.
Congrats on your classes. Do you think 6 hours round trip is too far to drive for a class? HHMMMM -Molly B
Congrats on deciding to teach the classes, you will be awesome! Keep us posted.
The dog card is very sweet. I was thinking it looks like something that should be framed. Maybe with the dog name on the bone instead of sympathy. Just an idea.
Have a great Sunday!
Oh this is so sweet, and I am sure she will just Love the thought behind it too, Lovely card!
Congrats on teaching at the store, sounds like fun!
Such a sweet card and so thoughtful. I’m sure Diane will love it and be very touched!!! It is a wonderful card!!!
I’m so glad you decided to teach the classes!!!! You will do a wonderful job!!! I seriously hope that I can take a weekend trip and come up to take one. What could be better than a weekend break AND learn from YOU!!!
Lauren, that is a sweet card you made for her. She’ll truly appreciate it. It’ll be a keep sake for her, I’m sure. Losing a pet is hard.
congrats on the class! Hmmmmm…do you think a 5 day drive EACH way is a little much for me, so I can attend?! rofl
A gorgeous card Lauren. I am sure Diana will just adore it & treasure it forever.
I know your friend will be so touched by your lovely, personalized sympathy card. It’s beautiful, and so kind and thoughtful of you to acknowledge what must be a profound loss. Your card will make a nice keepsake for her.
First off Congrats on your classes!! YEAHHHH… hmm will you teach us your class for those who live too far away and wouldn’t be able to take your class ???? lol lol… Secondly that card is so beautiful and Diane will cherish that card I am so very sure.
Your card for Diana is just perfect, as only you can do it….what a wonderful thing to do for a friend. You are so caring and compassionate, I’m sure partly because of all the illness you have been through with Alexa. The rest, just because you are awesome!
I know she will appreciate your thoughtfulness…
I’m so glad you are going to teach the classes! I would sign up in a second, if I didn’t live hundreds of miles away…what a treat that would be! I KNOW you will have great results, and don’t ever doubt yourself or your abilities! You are FABULOUS!!! 😀
I will keep Diana in my thoughts and prayers. It so difficult to lose a fur-baby. She’s going to be quite touched by your card. I love how you included Denver’s picture – and I’m sure she will too. It will be a cherished keepsake.
Now on to a happier note – congratulations on teaching classes! Who hoo, it sounds like fun and a door opening for you. Oh, I wish I lived closer.
Yes, I would second everything you said about Paulette. She is just a pure sweetheart with a heart of gold!
Looking forward to seeing the rest of this set too!
Gotta go – have a most wonderful weekend! TTYL!
Hugs!
Very nice card! I’m sure it will be very much appreciated. I put May 31st on my calendar. LOL 🙂
So sorry to hear about Denver’s passing. Losing a fur baby is truly heart-breaking. I know though that the card will help ease your friend’s pain.
We lost two beloved pets, JayDee and Harlee last year and I will always treasure the cards we received on their passing. It does help, just as it does with people, to know you are not grieving alone.
Its just beautiful, I know it will left her spirits! Glad you and Paulette had fun!
This is an incredibly beautiful tribute to Denver. I’m sure Diana will treasure the card, as she does the memory of her beloved dog. What a thoughtful gesture.
Wendy
Your card is great. You know I’m sure you’d be a much better scrapbooker than you think!! 😉 If you worked with small size albums it would be like making cards! :-D…
Actually I would like to make cards with pictures more often instead of stamped images! especially with the scenery here!! :-D….
It will be a very very sad time for your friend, Diana, but with love and support from friends like you, it will make it easier. Down the road she will look at your tribute and she will smile.
Happy and sad news all at once…isn’t life like that? One birth and a passing…..
Congrats and thanks for letting us know about Diana’s Denver…I hadn’t heard.
Love your sweet card…we’ve lost two goldens and now have a crazy goldendoodle, Chloe. Looks alot like Denver and a bigger version of your fur baby. Blessings!
That is just so sweet of you to honor Denver. It is so sad to loose a pet and to know others really care does help so very much.
Does not look like a sad card to me. I think Diana’s going to love it.
This is so sweet. What a wonderful memorial.
What a beautiful card; such a kind gesture, too. It will make a great momento.
First off, the card is one of THE BEST cards I have seen EVER. What a great job to include a picture of the precious little Denver. I love it.
Secondly, I so wish I live in or near NH. I would SO go to one of your classes. I love reading your blog everyday and your enthusiasm gives me more of a push I need to get some things done for me and my family and friends. To be able to enjoy that enthusiasm in person would be awesome. So, have fun. It would be nice too if you could at least share your projects here afterwards so we can see all the fun you are having since a lot of us can’t be in the class with you.
What a beautiful tribute to a faithful friend. She will probably cry now but will look back on it often with a smile. You are a wonderful friend to her
I wish I could come to your classes! I bet you will have so much fun! I think you made a wonderful decision

I recently lost my Kitty, Price Tag, to cancer and would have loved a card like this. I had him for 17 years and yes, he sure was one of my “kids”. This is a perfect card to fit into a frame and keep forever.
Lauren, she will surely treasure it and your thoughtfulness. It is a lovely card and so personalized with Denver’s picture. Great job!
Lauren…you have made some really pretty cards. But this one has to be the most lovely card you have EVER made. Brought tears to my eyes. That was so sweet.
The colors are so pretty. And how you shaded the bone.
Way to go.
You are a true friend. I think you will make your friend cry, but not because of the obvious, but rather because she has a caring, sweet friend like you who shares the pain and the heartache with her as she goes through that tough time. Your card is more of a tribute to Denver…and will her get some difficult times. Hugs to you both.
Very thoughtful and beautiful card, Lauren. I’m sure Diana will appreciate it. I lost my dog of 16 years last July. This card is so wonderful that I would promptly incorporate it into a scrapbook page or memory book about my pet. She will love how you personalized it. Thanks for sharing, and congrats on teaching your classes; I could use a class on the Scor-pal (just took off the wrapping!) and am pouring over their website to figure out what to do.
Good luck on your new venture! Just by visiting your blog every day, I know that you will be the star hit of that shop! Being a doggy mommy of two, I feel only sadness for Diana. It’s as bad as losing a child! Hugs to her! The card will only make her smile! Great job you are a true friend al many!
Denver is way cute!! My sympathy to Diana along with prayers. TFS.
The card is a real “keeper.” You will be a great teacher. You have great writing skills as well so keep that in mind for the future, too! I hope that you’ll keep us posted!
What a wonderful card Lauren! Not only is created with love, it will help her remember Denver in a beautiful way forever. You are so thoughtful.
Hmmm…can I come take your class too? You know I’l give you “honest feedback”!
LOVE THE CARD GIRL YOU ARE SO TALENTED.. WISHED YOU I LIVED CLOSER SO I COULD TAKE YOUR CLASS. MAYBE YOU COULD GIVE ALL OF US WHO DO NOT LIVE CLOSE TO YOU A TUTORIAL. DIANA WILLLOVE IT. SUSAN
This is so sweet and very touching. I love the work and such a great gesture to add the photo. Your so kind
Sorry for your friend’s loss. And congrats on the decision to teach classes!! Fingers crossed it’ll fit into my schedule!!
This is a beautiful card, Lauren. Just last weekend we put down our dog, Josie, who was 13 1/2 years old. I have known her longer than I have known my husband, and she died in my arms, after I had to make an excruciating decision… I am grieving beyond belief (and to top it off, my dearest friend is moving thousands of miles away in a couple of days…)
so I know how much a card like this will mean to Diana.
She is lucky to have a friend like you!
with love to Diane and family on the loss of her pet Denver a long time the loss will be difficult as 14years is a long time and Denver was i am sure just like a member of the family.

Beautiful tribute card; I’m sure Diana will treasure it forever.

Cindy
Great card even though it’s not a happy occasion. I think she will love and cherish it and your thoughfulness.
Such a sweet card~
What a wonderful card. Pets really are part of our families.
I’m so glad you decided to teach – you will be wonderful.
The loss of a pet is never easy. I know, we lost our Fluffy (also a Lasa) after sixteen years. Our pets are part of our family and we grieve for them as we would for a family member. I think she will love your card. Yes, she will cry, but in time she will be able to look at it and remember all the good times they shared. It is a wonderful card and I am sure she will treasure it.
I am so glad you deciced to teach classes. Now if Pennsylvania was only a little closer!!
Lauren,
Diana will love the card and will treasure it forever. You did a terrific job showing sensitivity and creative planning. Good Luck on your new adventure! : )
This is so sweet. I am so sorry for her loss. I am so glad that you decided to go ahead and do this. Good luck with your planning. I know you’ll be fantastic!
Such a sweet card, especially with the picture. I’m sure she will treasure it!
I am sure that she will cherish this sweet card always! PURFECT with the added picture of Denver!
Psst…
Are you okay? Just a little concerned – you usually post by now. I’m not trying to be annoying – just concerned.
Hi Lauren!
I am a huge fan of your creations/blog and when I read your recent post about teaching a class at the Paper Tree and Manch-Vegas my jaw hit the floor! I live in Concord and would absolutely love to attend!!!! When you have all the details about the class would you mind e-mailing me? I have a friend who lives and Manchester and we’re always looking for an excuse to get together! Thank you so much and keep up the good work! ~Joanna
If only i lived near you and the store where you will be teaching I would sign up in a New York minute! I recently bought a Scor-Pal and i would love to learn how to use it better. I did print some tutuorials (there was one you did!) and i’ve done that one. I am happy for you and i know that you will be great. Good luck! Genie:)
I wanted to post a separate note about the sympathy card you made for your friend. It was lovely how you used a picture of Denver on the card. Your friend will cherish this card. You put lots of love in your cards.
Truely wonderful…
Sympathy Card for a fur-baby!!
Your friend will be deeply touched
and will cherish this card forever.
*Best Wishes in your teaching classes 🙂
Dee
The card remembering Denver is priceless! She’ll surely treasure it! On a sad note for me, I was hoping to make it to your first class at the Paper Tree but I’m away that w/e! I hope it goes so well that you’ll do another one very soon!
What a thoughtful card, Lauren. I am so glad that you made this card for your friend. Losing a fur-baby is difficult in this world, because so many peoplewill say, “It was just a dog”, but those of us with pets know that is not the case. These sweet creatures have their own individual personalities and after you share your life with them for 14 years, you have a relationship that supercedes a lot of friendships. How many friends do you keep for that long (especially ones that never judge you and love you unconditionally)? I’ve lost 2 schnauzers to old age in the last decade, and have 2 senior citizens right now (schnauzer Gaby will be 15 in 1 month and minpin rescue Toby is estimated to be around 15, himself). So it won’t be long before we are in a similar situation. Fortunately, we also have a 10yo schnauzer that is staying young by competing in agility.
I can’t wait to see this stamp set. I already know that I “need” it to be added to all my dog stash!!!
Your friend will treasure your special card. You are so sweet.
Kathy
Such a sweet card and a sweet gesture Lauren. I am sure it will be treasured.
I’m sure Diana will treasure this dearly!! So very special!!
This is lovely and will be a caring memory of her baby.
