This is my card to you blog reader’s! I have a message below-please read it if you have time!!
I will share the card first, as my thank you note to you all is lengthy!
If you visit me here often, then that won’t be shocking since you know I am LONG winded!
I have my blog challenge to post today! Please check out the other member’s on my sidebar-if you get the chance. It was a fun challenge this week.
I do have some MFT new release stuff to share, so I will try to make it back here later.
This week’s blogger’s challenge was to do a SHAPED card! I LOVE doing shaped cards so was very excited by this challenge. The goal was NO RECTANGLES!
I HOPE this qualifies-since its sort of a rectangle!
Ter.RUFF.ic
What do you think of my fire hydrant? Isn’t it SOOOO cute?
This card uses one of my most favorite dog sets! Its called Puppy Love. I used ruby red card-stock.
I LOVED making it. It was super-duper easy too! Took like 7 minutes to make this!!! And that includes cutting out the dog 😀
I know you probably want to know HOW-so here you go!
DIRECTIONS
You have your rectangle card-fold at the top! A2 size card ( 4 1/4 x 5 1/2)
You will sponge ALL the edges of the pieces in this card!
1) Use the coluzzle oval (or other oval template), and cut a half oval for the top-
EDITED TO ADD: STAMP 3 ovals on that piece. I used the A Muse shadow oval
2) Cut a 1/2 inch band, a little longer than your card front, and round all the edges. Layer over edge where 1/2 oval is adhered to card.
3) Cut another piece, about the same size, and only round the top 2 corners. Adhere to bottom of card.
4) Use keytag punch and punch 3 pieces. Cut one in 1/2 for the end pieces. Adhere to card.
5) Punch a 3/4 circle and put it on the top of the hydrant.
6) Tie around choc. ribbon.
7) Now stamp sentiment, and stamp-color-cut dog, adhering with dimensionals!
DONE!!!
If you get a chance to make one-send us a link here so we can view it.
Today I am taking our dog Daisy to the groomer! She is almost 6 months old!!!! WOW!!
She weighs a little over 10lbs, and Im told by 8 months they are full grown.
She is the sweetest thing-ever. I am so happy we have her. I know I say that a lot, but its true. Getting a puppy was a huge step and responsibility. She was definitely a great fit.
She is quite furry! Her hair is on the longer side. She is buff, with copper ears! SO CUTE!!
Her eyes are covered by fur-and I dont know HOW she can see! I can’t wait to get some pictures of her all prettied up!
The only thing that isn’t so great about her is she eats ANY AND EVERYTHING! If she can get it in her mouth, she will eat it!
Oh yeah, and her “accidents” all like to take place on my living room carpet! Which despite using the carpet cleaner-still smells like PEE!
If you have ANY advice on what I can use to get that out, and STOP her from peeing in that corner-that would be GREAT!
Oh yeah-and I take her out like every 2 hours! So its not ME! I swear within a few minutes of coming in-she pee’s in her “spot”. NOT COOL!

Merciful heavens, that is the cutest card ever! How do you keep coming up with these adorable things??? I LOVE IT! I just love it!
Petco has a product with enzymes that might help with the odor in the carpet; and if I were you, I’d put a puppy pad in the area where Daisy is going, so at least it will not go into the carpet any more. Of course she may “move” the pad, or tear it up, or eat it! You could use some carpet tape and tape it to the carpet??? I know it’s frustrating, our pets do such awful things to us! LOL
You must take a picture of her when she’s back from the groomer! I know she will look SOOOO pretty! She is just the cutest thing, and I know the groomer will love her, too!
Have a great day…I’ve been sick, but am much better! Just getting caught up on email and stuff! 😀
I love this. The best thing about it is that it is sooooo easy! Great job with the challeng not that I expected any different!
Totally cute! Great job, Lauren.
Oh my gosh! THAT is the cutest thing! I will definitely try one of these! Thanks for sharing the directions – although they seem pretty doable, I would’ve never figured it out on my own! I love this group!
Darn if that isn’t the cutest card ever! I’d never think of doing something like this, this is just way cute!

Your card is doggone cute! 🙂
Oh my goodness! That’s so cute!!!!! I adore it!
ADORABLE! You are so creative and continue to amaze me!
Oh no! I hate to hear about your little dog going on the carpet – nothing worse! Ours did that once or twice – I did a search on the internet for ways to remove the odor & found something that sounded too good to be true. I ordered some Zero Odor. It worked! You can use it on carpet, furniture, etc. & it totally eliminates odor! (Also good for diaper pails, garbage cans, cat litter, shoes, etc. etc.) They also have a fully refundable guarantee. Their website is: ZeroOdorPet.com. It also removes the stain marks. Great stuff. (I also tried the enzyme spray from PetCo – it helped, but didn’t eliminate the odor completely)
Great card!! Your work is so amazing!!
As for your puppy issue… I have tried the enzymes also but have found that the Febreze Antimicrobial works the best. I had a male cat who decided the corner of the dining room was his place to pee. It took a few HEAVY applications of Febreze but the smell is gone. And HEAVY means don’t spray it on…take the top off the bottle and saturate the carpet and let it dry, which will take a long while but so worth it. The dining room smelled like Febreze for a couple of weeks but that was way better than cat pee!! Good Luck!!!
This is WAY too cute Lauren! And now I’m going to be forced to buy the dang key tag punch!
What a cute card! You are so creative, Lauren!
that card is stinkin’ adorable!

LOVE the hydrant! so cute! I need a dog stamp NOW!
and also, when you said lengthy….not even! Denise is a creative gal with her poem. You have lots of awesome friends visiting you daily!
Now, back to the playgroup…they are getting OOC!
This card is so cute!…and you made it sound so easy to make one just like it!! tfs
Yea, you definitely need some stuff with the enzymes in it. Something like “Simple SOlution” or “miracle something or other”. Get the dog formula, b/c it IS different from the cat one. THe enzymes “eat” (degrade) the pee and pooh deposits that WE cannot smell/see but the pups can. Be sure to spray until your carpet is SOAKED…don’t worry, it will dry. If these enzyme solutions didn’t exist, there’s no way i’d have my two pups b/c I’m OCD about cleaning.
Loved the poem..thanks a bunch for it…

Ok, I LOVE that fire hydrant. And I have been eyeing the dog and cat set from CTMH! Your so bad on my pocketbook! haha! Now I have to make this card… it’s so so so cute. Maybe i’ll try it with Lucky since I don’t have those sets (YET!)
Wow, what a fantastic card!! Absolutely adore it!! Great job with the challenge. Can’t wait to try it out!
okay Lauren, I might buy that it took you seven minutes to make this card, but I don’t think you’re counting in the time it took you to think it up! This is just adorable! I didn’t enter to win the mytime mail prize for you reaching so many hits on your blog, but I’d enter to win this card! Thanks for sharing your directions.
That is sooooo funny. You are wicked creative. Ok back to cleaing house for the 3 year olds big birthday party tonight. -Molly B
That is such a cute card love the hydrant your always so creative. I love that stamp set too I’ve had it ever since it was released but have never used it looks like I need to dust it off and get to stamping thanks for all of the inspiration.
What a great card! I love the look and how simply you were able to make it. I really need to splurge on the tag punch.
I have 4 furbabies and I feel your pain with the peeing. My old dog, whom I had to let go in January at age 15, really had bladder problems the last 6 months of her life. What made it bad is that I have a pet door and they can go in and out all day long. But when you’re old and not feeling to spry, you do what you can, right?
I agree with one of the posters on here about Febreeze. It worked the best for me, too.
I love it! great use of punches for the hydrant!
♪ ♫ how adorable is this card that you made… ♫ ♪
(sing to: how much is that doggie in the window…) Okay, I’m lame.
Seriously, I love the things you think up! This card is fabulous.
Sorry about the carpet and floors. No advice here – but I’ll be watching closely for the suggestions. Remember I have a Joey that’s potty training and he has his good days and then there is the ‘not so good’ days…..
Gotta run! Hugs!
Get out!!! This is so darn creative and clever. Lauren you are amazing!
U are so GOOD! I love this card. I just sit amazed at your wonderful talent.
That hydrant is too flippin’ cute, Lauren!!! Love it! 🙂
OMG that is the CUTEST card EVER!!!! I am a total dog person, so I’m printing up the directions right now! Thanks so much for your willingness to keep sharing your wonderful ideas – you are a creative genious and I love your work!
As for the puppy stuff, we are also in the midst of training a new puppy (just made 4 months) and I would also suggest putting a puppy pad on the spot just so the pee won’t go into the carpet. I had to put a couple down in unexpected spots to save our laminate flooring from warping!
Once you think she’s fully trained, then you can remove the pad, but watch her to make sure she’s over it!
I love simple projects that look like they take hours! Great job as always.
Oh, my stars! This is so stinkin’ cute!!! You totally rock!
Now that is too darn cute – you continue to amaze me with all your creations…. Some serious subliminal enabling going on!! So I’ve been scrapping lots of dog photos lately and I thought of your sweet Daisy…sharing this link with everyone. Cute blog about scrapping your animals…they have neat challenges to get you thinking of different ways to scrap your pet: http://a-true-friend.blogspot.com/
Also as far as her spot – you gotta get that smell up and outta there – she’ll go there at long as she can smell it…they make some great stuff that’s sold at Petsmart to clean up all sorts of dog & kid messes. Our chow used to get sick all the time and we used it to clean those spots. Taking her out constantly is the only way to get it through her little puppy head to go outside.

If she’s a chewer get you some compressed rawhide bones (the kinda translucent stinky brown ones and a kong you can fill with treats to keep her busy). It’s the ONLY thing that has saved my labs from eating my house and even my grandmother’s doxie puppy has taken to them….wears them out! Here’s what we buy

OMG that is the cutest card!!!! I am definitely making it for sure! I send lots of cards out from my dog (in fact for the last two years, she has been the focal point on my christmas cards!)… this will be the next!
As for your pee spot (well your dog’s…), we used a product called “S.O.X”, that we got at Petsmart (in Canada anyway). It supposedly breaks down the enzymes in pee/poo so that the dog/cat is likely to go back to the same spot (“marking” their territory so to speak). It also cleans it up too.
Good Luck, and I am sure she will eventually grow out of it!

OH MY GOSH! Lauren, you just amaze me! Bravo!!!!!
this is dog-gone cute! love it…love all your creations! keep ’em coming! 😉
hi!
just wanted to tell you that i LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your blog! it is one of my very favorites!
i am so inspired by your projects!
we did the “puppy thing” last year and i wanted to pass on a little something that i discovered- Resolve pet stain remover! it is simple and cheap, but it has something in it that masks the smell to our four legged friends, so that they won’t keep using your carpet as their personal pee-pee pad! it smells good to us too!
wouldn’t it be great if they could just use the “big girl potty”?!
good luck!
~sarah

This is the cutest thing EVAH!!!!
Anyway, I gave you and award on my blog! Pop on over and check it out!
Have a great weekend!
Where do you get all of these great ideas? Oh my gosh this is just too freakin cute! Can’t wait to see Daisy all “dolled up”. However, I have no advice for the potty thing. That’s why we have cats and I refuse to let my husband have a dog.
of course the card is darling, BUT TO Get PEE oOUT. use peroxide. works like a charm…..have fun cleaing that mess…LOl, I have boys so cleaing icky is my life…lol
One of my Yorkies was hard to potty train…. I ended up doing the if you potty you get to play and stay out… if not you go to your crate.
To get the pee out…. Buy some of the pet cleaner with the natural enzymes… MUST have the natural emzymes… Then saturate the spot… really sopping wet and then cover it with plastic… weigh it down. leave for at least 2 to 3 days… then uncover and let dry the rest of the way… if the smell lingers go again… This will really work…. I had an issue with my cat being mad on a new piece of furnature and after a couple of applications all the smell was out…
Good luck!!!
Too cute! Sorry have never owned a dog so I have no advice for you.
OK, now that is the cutest card ever! You are so creative Lauren! TFS!

Your blog is such a wonderful place.
There’s something called “oxy solution” that gets out puppy leavings!
It’s not oxi-clean though. Oxy solution. Works great.
Lauren this is just such a cute and fun card. I love the Fire Hydrant and that adorable little dog. It’s a super cool card.
Lauren,
Super cute card!!
As for Daisy’s issue, can you put her food and water over that area for a little bit, dogs will not pee where they eat. Do get rid of the scent you can Nature’s Miracle, which you can get at a pet store. If you can get Anti Icky Poo, it works the best, I got mine from my vet, it gets rid of the odor, which is why she keeps going in the same spot. One last thing you can try is to put her crate, if you still use it, over it for a little while. I almost forgot, you really need to get it into the carpet pad, if you have one. Sometimes you can ask your vet for a 18 gauge needle and 12 or 20 cc syringe. Getting into the pad is really important, if you don’t have a pad can you get underneath your carpeting???
Good Luck,
Jen
The enzyme stuff works well for keeping pups from reusing a place. Whatever you do, don’t use anything with vinegar in it, as she will continue to pee there. Are you going outside with her and rewarding her for doing her business outside? It takes consistency and a little time and effort on your part. If you watch her pee outside and then she comes in and does it again, she has developed a really bad habit and you will have to work with her to break her of it. If you send her out by herself, then you don’t really know that she did anything. She will take to doing her business outside a lot faster if you go outside with her and have a big ol’ party when she does the right thing. Punishing bad behavior doesn’t really work with dogs. They are pleasers. Show them what you want and they will give it to you…just a little time and patience and Daisy will be doing what she’s supposed to do every time!!! Good LUCK!
The card is adorable. I cannot believe it took you 7 minutes to make it!!! Incredible! You can tell by my email address that I am a dog person…though we’re a geriatric center now. We have a 16 yo Miniature Pinscher that found us and wouldn’t go home (wherever that was) 6.5 years ago. Next comes the last of 3 generations of Miniature Schnauzers (we had dad and grandma – that was before we became responsible pet owners, spaying, neutering and adopting strays & rescues). Gaby will be 15 yo in 3 months. And lastly, Sadie, a black miniature schnauzer that we rescued from an abusive situation when she was a pup. She just turned 10 yo.
Thanks for sharing…I appreciate your talent and look forward to your posts.
Wow…you are such an amazing and creative artist!!! I just love all of your work. Thanks for sharing it with us!
Lauren, you are an amazing woman (designer, mom, the whole package!) This hydrant card is totally cute!
LOL…this card is so darn cute, makes me giggle seeing it!
I am a mother of two girls one 26 and one 23. Since the older one turned 16 we have had nothing but heartache and problems. The 23 yr old at the time promised
never to be that way……well when she turned 18 we had a round with her two.
They both still live at home. (New York is toooooo expensive to live and very hard to get apartements that they can afford on theier salaries).
MY WISH………… is for both of them to love and respect us like they should and
for the problems to stop.
My husband and I are at retirement age and we should be enjoying life….!!!
oops the above card should go into your contest…..dah how did it get here?
Sorry for repeated posts too bad you didn’t have an edit key LOL! I meant the above post should be in your Make A Wish contest….sorry!!!
Now for the above card it is awesome…..and I SO WANT to case it….I am trying to think of someone that has a dog so I can make it and give it to them today….
Thanks for all your inspiration…Your work is awesome…especially the baby onsies they are so adoreable!
