YES! Today is Friday! LOVE Fridays.
Well as you may now, if you frequent my blog, that Friday is my day to participate in a Blogger’s Challenge.
This week was DEFINITELY a challenge.
We had to use the following colors-which TOGETHER I honestly HATE.
Purely Pomegranate, Old Olive, and Brilliant Blue-BLECH!! When have you ever seen me use BRILLIANT BLUE? If you answered never-then you would be correct.
Anyway, here is what I did for the “challenge”. The colors are true to the challenge but my lighting was off. Being limited for time I didn’t get out my photo set up-but rather took it by the window-on a gloomy day :C SORRY!
When in doubt go with black! LOL! That is how I balance any weird color scheme. OR white. I try to make them “accent” colors. I would most likely NEVER use this combo again. I felt really limited by it.
Since this combo was FUNKY-I decided to go with a funky layout. I like the end result, that being my layout. But again, not THRILLED.
The 1/2 rectangle is paper pierced to continue to look. It would be too plain otherwise. I had some Paper Frills, but they weren’t the color I needed, so I used my markers to make them Olive, then layered it under my main layer, for a little more interest.
I went with a funky flower to create a border using Fun to be Floral. I love that flower image. The leaf is from the In the Tree Top set.
I stamped them in black, then colored with my Copic markers. The flower center’s have some BLING 😀
The sentiment is High Hello’s.
That butterfly is from the SAB rub-on set. Its a really great set of Rub-On’s.
That is pretty much it.
It is snowing here-AGAIN. So Im off to stamp land.
Be sure to check in tomorrow for my Saturday Sketch challenge 😀
I *may* return here later-we shall see.
Till then.

Well, I think it turned out great! I honestly don’t think I could have worked with those colors and made it turn out as nice as yours.
You’re getting more snow? Wow, you guys sure have had your fair share of that white fluffy stuff!
How’s Alexa? I hope she’s having a better day today! ♥
Gotta run… Joey’s up to something… I just don’t know what!
Hugs!
You crack me up! You would never know you hated these colors from the look of this card. It totally rocks! Such a cute design!
I like the funky off beat look of your card. Great layout…flower border is perfect…
Lauren! You did great with this color combo! BB is not one I use much either but it needs to make a comeback in my stampin!
Oh snow, we are getting alot today as well! that’s great you can go into stampland. Im getting tired chasing my guys around! Boy, 2 year olds can keep on going like the energizer bunny!
This card turned out great! I like those colors not bad at all. I need to get more paper and have been debating what colors. But I should get in gear soon so to take advantage of the free set at least. Is Purely Pomegranate really “red”? I knwo you said your lighting was off a bit. I’m trying to find something close to Baroque Burgandy from a few years ago, my favorite!
I actually really liked the color combo here, there isn’t too much of it so it is just perfect! Great card!
Lauren – I’m with you! This color combo was NOT a favorite of mine! You pulled it off though! 🙂
LOL! I have to say, it’s a pretty stunning card! Eventhough the colors aren’t your favorite, you still made it beautiful!
This is GORGEOUS, Lauren! WOW
Wow! Your card looks great! You’d never guess you had difficulties! Great job!

I really like it Lauren…the black and white makes the colors pop.
Well, I think you did a great job with the challenge. That was a hard challenge Lauren! By the way, I saw at my Hobby Lobby the other day some new cuttlebug dies that are butterflies and it comes with four small folders that the die cut fits in and embosses the butterfly! I thought of you when I saw it! Maybe something for you to get when you’re off spending probation.
Well, I have to say that your “worst” (in YOUR opinion) are better than my best!! LOL I really like this card.
I love how your card turned out!! Super cute!!
Nice job Lauren. I think you rocked those colors 🙂 I’m down at Dartmouth today with Tim today. Using his laptop to check in on blogs. I love google reader. Access from anywhere. -Molly B.
Great job! I love using black on cards – it’s so dramatic.
Snowing!? *gasp* It’s hard for me to envision as it is 85 degrees today, yep it’s too hot for me and we’re in February! Crazy world!…
Did you know my favorite color is blue? It cracks me up you don’t like using it, hehe… 🙂
They do sound “odd” together but I think they look fab on your card!! Great job!
I’m looking forward to your sketch tomorrow!!! Can’t wait!
I bought some Copics while on vacation…hope I can use them right?! haha!
Unique and Fun! – It’s funny because I actually LIKED the color combo together. Your take is very nice. Love the slanted border of the flowers.
I love this card!!! I can’t remember the last time that I used brilliant blue myself but maybe ‘ll dig it out, dust it off, and try a little funky design of my own tonight 🙂
Luv this card…the colors make this card really pop & stand out! It’s awesome!!!
This is just stunning! So funky!
This turned out great! I had a hard time figuring out how to combine these colors, too. Using the black and white with them was a good idea. I love the paper piercing, too.
OH… now… I LOVE this… Looks like a publishable card to me! It’s got great color combinations and composition. It’s different and has a fun appeal! Submit this baby! WAY TO GO!
Love the fresh/funky layout – if you were challenge I sure couldn’t tell!
This is a great card, I love that you just used a tad bit of each color!
Beautiful card. I think it is very striking.
I love the card!! I am one of the few I think who loves the Bold Brights. I love the other families as well and I do use alot of Soft Subtles, but the bold brights are great for kids cards. You seem to make a great card no matter what color you take on.
Lauren: I agree with you on the colors, but I love your card. You did a such a superb job with the colors.
I just love this. I can’t believe you don’t like it. You did a super job with this challenge.
