Oh after getting my Crafty Secrets Coffee & Tea set, I had to dust off my beloved MFT Hot Stuff set!
I LOVE this set. I recently had a card with it published in the Dec/Jan issue of Paper Trends.
The *ONLY* problem with being on design teams is, you get these awesome sets you LOVE, you get to use them briefly before a release, then its on to the next set. NOT COMPLAINING! So, when you REALLY love a set it stinks when you don’t have more time to use the “oldies but goodies”.
Kim is only going to be releasing one mini set in February, since she is busy getting ready for CHA, and has given us free reign to PLAY with our faves instead. I am getting an early start :D.
So wait till you get enabled to buy some older sets (wink)!
I was so happy with this card/layout.
I used some YUMMY Martha Stewart paper (and ribbon), and away I went. I used my sewing machine to attach the patterned layer, onto the embossed floral layer (embossed paper came that way). The colors are blush blossom, and pretty in pink. A nice monochromatic combination.
Its pretty simple, but lovely all the same.
Things are going pretty well here. I always appreciate the warm thoughts 😀
Tomorrow will be TORTURE the kids day!
My way of getting back at them for driving me insane the past week-KIDDING!!!
I made them each an appointment at my most FAVORITE place-the DENTIST!!! I don’t know WHO it will hurt worse, me for having to deal with 3 kids at the dentist, or them for having their first cleaning.
YIKES! I get an anxiety attack just thinking about it. If you follow this blog-you will understand. I hate the dentist. I hope to get my kids in and have a good experience.
Alexa can’t be touched. She has Chemo Wednesday, so I guess a week of travel AND torture. Her counts have to be REALLY good to go to the dentist, for risk of infection, plus due to her heart surgery she always requires antibiotics. They will however PEEK in her mouth to make sure things look OK till we are safe to get her a cleaning. People with Down Syndrome are prone to dental issue’s :C Little enamel, and overcrowding are a big issue-add chemo and you have the perfect cocktail for cavities no matter what you do. I will get Alexa’s teeth capped when she has all her adult teeth in, and will make sure she has a nice mouth of teeth if it kills me.
Due to our hectic health schedule this will be Noah’s FIRST visit and he is 5! BAD MOMMY! OK I honestly don’t have that much guilt because I can’t. We had priorities, and that was Alexa’s health first. We had all we could juggle. I can put my guilty sign on, but it will do no good. I have done my BEST. That is all one can do.
I really think we as mother’s wear that sign all too often, and we have to cut ourselves some slack time to time.
It’s OK to not be PERFECT! Who is really?
OK that is enough of my crazy banter.
Hope you have a great day. I have tons to do.
Don’t I always?
Till tomorrow-

Love this card, pretty and simple! TFS!
Try not to be too nervous about the dentist! For their first appointment they know they have to be cautious and gentle with the kids. I bet they will try to make it fun for them, and let them get acquainted with the chair and all the equipment. You can do it mom, hang in there! Love the card too!
This is gorgeous! Boo to the dentist. lol
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your card! It’s just awesome!
So sorry you have such a crazy schedule this week, I hope it all goes well. You are NOT a bad Mommy, take that guilty sign OFF!!! You DID do well to just survive thus far, and the kids’ teeth will be fine. I hope they have peaceful checkups…
Take care, grab some rest this week when you can! And hugs to Daisy 😀
We get so many messages about what kind of a mother we are — Bad this and Good that… My prayer is that we affirm the good, resolve to be our Best (which for you is very high!) and go from there. Friend, though I don’t know you, I hope that maybe I am one of your friends, know that you have tons of folks who understand and applaud.
GOOD JOB about getting out there and getting your kids to the dentist! I don’t want you to buy into all the negatives about your mom-ing — you are doing a good thing now (and I know how hard that is…) so you deserve lots of praise!
Now, I have to get MY kids to the dentist ;^)*
Hugs!
i love this card Lauren! I am the same way with all my DT sets! I am gonna have to get this set out, dust it off and ink it up. 🙂
Yummy card! I’m sure Noah and Amber will do just fine at the dentist.
Don’t be so hard on yourself…We just took our son in for his first dental appointment last week. He’s almost 4 1/2yo. Our other 2 kids were 4-6 years old when we took them for the first time, too…and all three of them haven’t had any problems and no cavities.
Wow you have been busy !!! I scrolled for awhile and saw a whole whack of things that are new… Great stuff Lauren.. Love looking at your site.
Wonderful Card! Good Luck at the dentist, you should have nothing to feel guilty about, in fact you could probably win “Mother of the Year” Relax and give your self a break
Ya know, I had negative early dentist experiences & I don’t “love” the place myself…but my kids think it’s fine! They are all excited about getting to pick a prize from the Treasure Chest at the end (Oriental Trading stuff that the dentist has). I treated their first visit special & took photos and told them they were going to have their teeth counted, etc. And they were totally fine and they are happy to go there. I don’t do any other kind of bribery on my own, either, like getting them a treat afterwards. (Look in my SCS gallery for a scrap page of Rachel’s first visit). Anyway, just be breezy about it and they probably won’t pick up your negative vibes (they didn’t mine) and maybe it will be easier for them right from the start! Good luck!
Beautiful card! The embossed paper is so yummy!
You’re posts are so inspirational…I don’t have kids yet (or a husband…maybe someday) so I can only imagine how much stress a mother goes through, and then to add the stress of chemo and other health concerns seems enormous. I’m sure you are very strong and doing the best you can. Best wishes for a happy dentist visit!
Beautiful card!! That’s one of my favorite MFT sets too! Love all the pink! (And I HATE the dentist as well. Ick!)
Sometimes you so hit the nail on the head. You just do the best ya can, you know! At least you scheduled a dentist appointment! You are way ahead of me!
Good luck with the dentist. Dont’ feel guilty it will be fine, you have had alot going on.
I love your card. That was a set I wanted when I ordered but they were out of stock. I actually just picked up a 2 stamp set at Michaels today because it had that same (or close to it) saying and I liked it.
This set is fabulous isn’t it?! I like the colours you chose to use. So soft and pretty!!!
Beautiful card as always Lauren.
I wish I lived close to you, I would be their favorite hygienist.. I have been doing this for 46 years, I still love every day I work..if I have to get down on my knees to look in their mouth I will.. Over the years I have never had 3-4 that never let me work on them.. I am known as Miss Sue, the tooth fairy. Quit being so hard on yourself.. I hope your visit goes well……I will be thinking of you and the kids.. please tell them one of your PSF takes care of little ones teeth..Hugs
Don’t forget the camera, so we can see their first visit.. Susie
Beautiful card..love the soft pink.
And dont worry about the dentist thing…most kids don’t even sit well there until they are after five (you are a GREAT mommy!)
’nuff guilt feelings, Lauren!
Here’s a funny. My son fell down the stairs while on his toddler trike. He was about two years old then. Later I noticed his teeth were purplish. So I made an appt with the dentist — dreading the news in case the roots had died from that fall down the stairs. Nope, that wasn’t the problem. It was Grape Juice stains! A bit of cleanin’, and they were lovely white teeth again.
Love, love, LOVE the card – way cute…. and so true, kwim! Okay, I see a new Cuttlebug folder in the back? It’s cute – which one is it? You don’t have to go look. I can seek it out 😉
Have fun (lol) at the dentist. I’m like you – I hate going to the dentist but my kiddies don’t seem to mind. Like Staci, he has the treasure chest full of goodies for them to pick from.
I’ll be thinking of you all at the dentist. (Making mental note to self to call and make appointments too) Talk to you later!
Hugs,
Renee
OK, well, now I feel REALLY bad! Need (badly) to get my kids (both of them) to the dentist but the dental assistant gave me such a hard time last time (a couple years ago) that I won’t go back there. I finally had to tell her to cool it. So I don’t even HAVE a dentist!! Anyway, you’re dealing with enough so I hope you don’t rate yourself as good or bad . . you’re WONDERFUL!!
