OYE VEY!
I don’t even know if I spelled that right! LOL! But that is what I thought/felt when attempting this challenge. I literally wanted to slap myself in the forehead. Just picture it-
Today’s Blogger Challenge was to use watercoloring on your images.
Can I just tell you that I haven’t watercolored since I bought my Copic Markers MONTHS ago!!! Now I realize with all that practice I think I might even be pretty good at using my Copic’s! TOOT! TOOT!! OK I didn’t say perfect-I said good, and thats good enough for me!
So, I think I am SPOILED with my markers! LOL! I love my Copic’s and DO NOT miss watercoloring AT ALL. This was quite the challenge for me. I kept blending the coat SO much that the paper pilled-GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don’t get me wrong my coat looked fabulous-till that happened. I had already done everything else so I was NOT about to re-do it. So I hid it! I stamped the coat onto vellum cardstock. I then stamped the dots image from Behind the Scene’s (using different colors) onto it, cut it out, then pieced it over the original image. Now I have a cute polka dot raincoat 😀 This card is just full of HAPPY dots.
I use to be pretty good at watercoloring, but that has obviously escaped me.
This set is the Rain or Shine byMFT. Is it not cute? I really like it. It was of course perfect for the challenge. The paper is by American Crafts. I so love their stuff. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Yes I said it-now for the 4th time-LOVE.
I am so hooked on tilting my images these days. I go through phases where “something” becomes my favorite thing to do, or use. Sometimes its a technique or a layout. Well this week its tilting. Oh yeah I have a “thing” for adding circle to my designs. I just LOVE them. Do you go through phases like that? Or am I weird?
Anyway-thats my contribution.
Stay tuned……………………………………..we still have a Saturday Sketch coming. Plus more ideas. Don’t I always have MORE ideas? Who knows what I will post next.
I’m really trying to get back into my MOJO. Its still tired :C

I got my watercolors out the other day to make a Thanksgiving card for a friend…I hadn’t gotten those out of their box for probably 10 or 15 years!! *shame* I used to watercolor a little before that… Man, this was hard!!! 🙁 (-> here’s the card : http://dare2beecreative.blogspot.com/2007/11/happy-thanksgiving.html )
The secret to watercoloring (I mean the secret to pretty watercoloring!) is to leave some white in your picture and make the colors as transparent as possible and not go back too much. Me of course, always very delicate LOL, I tend to add way too much color (or too much water, or both!) and lose the beautiful “barely there” effect. It is much harder than it seems and when you’re out of practice it’s like you have to learn all over again!!… 😛
This is SO pretty Lauren. I had to watercolour my image a second time!!! I went to blend the beard on my Santa just a little more and ended up pulling great gobs of red in from his coat, totally ruining my image!!!!
I just ordered some MFT sets last night and can’t wait to play!!! After seeing all these cute samples, I wish I had of ordered this set as well.
Love how you popped the “brellie”…………………………..Hope you feel bettah soon!!!!

This is a super cute card, I love the “happy” rain boots! I ordered it last night and cant wait to get it! Yippee!
What are the blogger challenges, is that from the splitcoast bloggers thingy? I see the list of people in it but I dont know where it starts from.
Lauren,
Very pretty! I had a little “pilling” problem myself! I guess this challenge was good practice for us!
Also, I’m not listed on your blogger’s challenge – not a big deal…
but here’s the info just in case..LOL

Super cute!
Lots of fun dots and, oh, so CUTE! I especially love the boots!
This is an adorable card. I’m like you, I don’t watercolor much, and my watercolor crayons look almost new, but it was fun to break them out this week. The fun, happy dots in this card are perfect and so very cheerful (much needed when it’s raining!).
Beautiful job Lauren. I don’t watercolor much myself but your coloring is beautiful and inspiring me to give it a try. I ordered this set and can’t wait to get it so I can play 🙂

Another super cute creation!
Cute card Lauren – love the sparkles in the rain.
Wow, great minds think alike with this one, huh! I like her coat, and the card is cute!
Your card is cute and I think your watercolouring is fine! I don’t own copics and probably never will, LOL! So I do watercolour often, I’m not good at it but I continue plugging away at it….
Can’t wait for the sketch tomorrow!
Girlfriend,
If I only had your sick MOJO I would be thrilled. I have put myself on a stamping budget so I do watercolor a lot. I just love those people images but can’t let them just be black and white. I am going to save up for those copics though. They are my new “Must Have”.
Have a great weekend!
Kathy
Lauren, I love her polka dot rain coat! I’m almost glad you had issues watercoloring it because the polka dots are too stinkin’ cute!
wow what a gorgeous card love her wellies, all your cards are beautiful you are sooo very talented.
Oh Lauren….
This is adorable and I really like the sentiment – “I’ll be your umbrella.”
No, you’re not the only one who goes through stamping phases. I’m not sure what mine is right at the moment but seems like lately it’s glitter. I’m always adding it somewhere!
Hugs,
Renee
This is just gorgeous. I love the watercoloring and I think you did a fantastic job on it.
Lauren, I go through stages like that too, but you could still be weird! LOL!
Seriously though, great idea for covering up you mistake on the coat!
Just Adorable! You are pushing me on this cute set….stop it! I luv it, and the boots!
I love all the dots you have going on here. Can’t wait for my set to arrive!
Very cute sample!! I love the way it turned out. Like most I had not watercolored in a while and had a few issues myself. Yours turned out super!
