Happy Sunday-I am LATE again! But I have been stamping! Yeah for me-sad for you if you have been waiting for an update! Sorry! But when I get on a roll I CANT stop! My time during the week isnt as FREE as I thought it would be! LOL! So I have to take advantage of Jason watching the kids so I can pump out the samples!
I have alot of cool stuff to share this week-including a gift bag tutorial. I am not posting the ornament today-sorry! Its just not gelling with my point of this particular post! Plus I have a product review to finish. Wait till you see that one-pretty cute idea.
Anyway I have some samples to share with Think Pink, and then a whole piece of info on stamps for a cause and what not!
Here is the first-We’re in this together
Do you not LOVE how I used the heart shaped tag from Making Memories? LOVE IT!! The image was totally perfect for that idea! I secured it using glue dots, folded in 1/2.
The jewels are from Alexa’s party! LOVING that bag of goodies.
Supplies
cardstock-pretty in pink, basic gray, PT white, vellum cardstock
patterned paper- DCWV- not sure which collection. Random buy at a LSS.
Ink- copics, brillinace ink graphite black
ribbon by SU-pink taffeta, Making Memories tag
I made a banner strip from vellum cardstock. Cute huh?
This set is SO pink and black huh? Seems like most of us have been compelled to use the pretty combo with this set.
Well dont get stuck in a creative rut thinking its ONLY PINK! If you haven’t gotten it for that fact I will hopefully open your mind!
Kim @ MFT shared with me that a close friend of her’s just found out his wife was diagnosed with a rare Ovarian Cancer. Well, I had to make her a card. I “googled” the “color” for ovarian cancer and saw it is teal. Every cancer is represented by a color! Did you know that? Leukemia is orange. Anyway-so here is my card for her.
Not So Pink!
How can you not LOVE this card?
Now you can see that it can be used in support of ANY cause!
Supplies:
cardstock-basic black, taken with teal, PT white
ink-Copic Markers, graphite black brilliance ink
Punches- Martha Stewart flower border punch. Small and Large SU ovals
My Prima Sprites. Had to have a bling brad 😀
Ribbon of Support
This one was a simple one-the ribbon can slide out and be worn for a symbol of support! Again it can be done in ANY color to suit the cause!
A great ond easy one for mass production-minus the jewels!!
—————————————————————————————————————
I know I have said this before but I will say AGAIN-there is NOTHING better than being able to use your HOBBY to make a difference!
I have been blessed by others through stamping, and hope I in turn have also blessed others with mine!
Many people are being touched by this horrible disease, and more and more stamp companies are stepping up and helping! I think they are realizing the impact this has on people, and the need for sets just for these issues, or to help support the causes. No amount of support is too small! If each person did a small part-it becomes HUGE!
Here are some recent sets that I am aware of-if you know links to more PLEASE share in the comments section!
Missy B Designs– Alexa’s Set- $12 This was the set created for my daughter Alexa, where 100% of proceeds benefit pediatric leukemia and lymphoma research! I am SO proud of that set, and all the money it has raised-thanks to many of you!!!
Gina K-Make A Wish set (and Autism Speaks). $26.95 for wood mount $21.95 unmounted. I was proud to be a part of the fabulous design team to help support a cause that my family directly benefited from. What an amazing cause. $7 from every set gets donated!
MFT Stamps– Kim recently released Think Pink. Its a super set that 50% of retail proceeds get donated to Breast Cancer Research!
Now YOU can help too!
As I posted before Lizzie Anne is having a card contest! Details ——> HERE All you have to do is send a card using LA sets and you could win! BEST part-everyone wins, because ALL entries get sent to Cards for Cancer!
In honor of the contest, I will start posting tomorrow-a daily sample with my Lizzie Anne sets! And throw in some other samples as well 😀
Also lets not let there be only one month (October) or one time of year (usually Christmas) to think of helping others! Send a card to a family in need or consider donating stamped cards or items to a cause YOU believe in or have been personally affected by. Or donate your time if you can.
Trust me-you dont realize how all these little gestures affect families till its YOU on the receiving end! I hope to God you never have to know.
I believe Alexa’s Cancer had a deeper purpose. For me to not be selfish, but do what I can to reach out and help other people in the smallest ways. I have learned SO MUCH since her journey. Things I never would have otherwise. It put our family on a whole new path. Not always an easier one, but we are grateful nonetheless for what we do have.
If you have any causes you participate in or have been touched by, please feel free to comment! I LOVE hearing about what others are doing! It is so heart warming and reminds me that there are more GOOD people in the world than NOT.

I LOVE your cards! My set should be here this week just in time for me to be gone for Portland but I can’t wait to stamp with it!
[…] continues at mytime brought to you by cancer.medtrials.info and […]
Ok. I have a few things to say. First of all, I LOVE what you’ve done with this set! I just got my stamp set yesterday and can’t wait to dive in!
Second – I feel like I have to say what an amazing job you do keeping up with all of your DT commitments (and other things!). I know I’ve seen other people’s blogs really decrease in quality when they get stretched too thin. They might post and meet their commitments, but the product is usually compromised. You, however, continue to amaze me! Everything is top quality and you’re always showing me something new and different. Love it!
Third – in conjunction with Kim’s MFT set, I just wanted people to know that they can also order a limited edition Think Pink kit from Paper Pretties. This kit comes with the Think Pink set (with 50% of the stamp proceeds going to research) plus TONS of pink, girl-themed accessories and supplies. Another $5 is given to research with the box purchase. I think it would be great to give as a gift too. You can find out more here:

Hope it’s ok to post the above. I just really feel like it’s a great way to support an awesome cause.
Hi Lauren!
Great cards that you have created with this new set! I can’t wait for mine to arrive here in Canada(could be a couple of weeks)…lol
Thanks for the reminder about being supportive of others and causes THROUGHOUT the year. At my daughters school there is something that the kids walk, run or jump for every month! It’s nice that we are bringing the kids up to see there are more important things out there than just games and playing. I’m lucky to have a very generous daughter who jumps at the chance to do any fundraising or charity events!
I will be looking for your creations all week!!! Can’t wait!
Have a fantastic night!
Great cards Lauren! I love the teal one for ovarian cancer. It’s a good reminder at how versatile this set is.
Hi, Lauren!
Your cards are beautiful!! I’m always amazed that with all that is going on in your life, you make the time to help others and participate in so many other causes. The cause that affects me most closely is finding a cure for Multiple Sclerosis (MS). By brother-in-law was diagnosed with MS in 1999, when he was only 27 years old. Since then, my husband’s family has been very active in fundraising to find a cure. In the fall of 1999 my husband and BIL started an annual soccer tournament, called KickMS (www.kickms.org), with the proceeds benefiting a local MS center. Every year it’s so rewarding to see so many people come to the tournament to have fun AND make a difference! It does remind you that there ARE lots of good people out there!
Keep doing what you’re doing, Lauren — you’re definitely one of the GOOD ones! 🙂
Lauren – terrific creations! Can’t wait to get my set 🙂
I’ve participated and raised funds for the American Cancer Society through the Relay for Life, as I know all TOO MANY people affected by this horrible disease, especially kids…
Our office at work always makes food baskets during the holidays too, but we try to stock them with lots of stuff that can be used for more than just one meal. We always add in dry cereals, and pasta, soups, things that you can get a lot of mileage from, in addition to the typical ‘holiday fare’.
I think it’s absolutely fabulous that you are able to make a difference, especially doing something you enjoy doing so much! It’s really wonderful, and I hope that you continue to have opportunities to do even more!
Lauren
Your work is always amazing , creative , inspiring and Your blog is a joy to visit ! I read about Cards for Cancer here on your sight and contacted Marcia . I have been sending her a package of cards each week ever since ! In honor of you , your story , your sweet girl Alexa , all of the numerous people that are affected by this disease , and in loving memory of my father who lost his battle this year . Good deeds always have a ripple effect . Thank you for inspiring me daily and the connection to allow my card creations to make a difference ! Liane
You have some of the most gorgeous stamps I have ever seen on cards. I am so jealous – lol. I will bookmark the sites you’ve given.
Thanks again x
All of your Think Pink cards are awesome. I like how your first one draws your eye to the awareness ribbons because the clothing is plain – it’s so clean and nice. And the one with the ribbon behind the single image is so striking – I am saving that to my favorites.
Your cards here are some of my very favorites I’ve seen with this set! Awesome, Lauren!!
Beautiful cards Lauren. It’s wonderful to see you putting your heart and effort into such worthwhile endeavors.
You are doing an amazing job…with EVERYTHING. Your samples are always fresh and fun and you sure can think outside the box. I love what you are doing with these sets! Fresh layouts and color combos. Thanks for the inspiration.
I loved all three cards~! I love that you want to make a difference and inspire others to do the same! You are such a giving, kind person! Thanks chickie!
Hello Lauren, These are fabulous cards. I know your strength is what makes Alexa strong. I wanted to share that although everyone’s live has in some way been touched by cancer, and it’s not a dirty word anymore, I’ve spent a good portion of my adult life and some of my youth as well, volunteering for different causes that affect my family. I’ve done the Relay for Life, Diabetes walks, etc, but my special cause is for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. I lost my younger brother Frankie, to suicide in 1993, as well as a coworker, several family friends and most recently, my older half brother’s best friend. it touches so many lives, and is mostly caused by depression and other mental illnesses. It’s important to erase the stigma surrounding mental illness and suicide. and for that, in 2004 I created a team named No Stigma. I walked that first community walk in the Chicago area with 40 ppl, and this year, my friend Lizzi and I chaired that walk for the 2nd year, with over 900 people registered and over $120K raised so far, we’ll bring the awareness and create programs so desperately needed to the area, helping with research into the brain and causes of depression, so that we can lower the rate of suicide. One every 16 min in the US with an attempt made more than one per minute, every day. Leaving those of us survivors with the questions that will never be answered. Find out more at http://www.afsp.org.
thanks for putting this question out there and may we all make the differences that we can, as little ripples in pools of water, causing tidal waves of awareness and find cures for these horrible things that rip pieces out of peoples lives.
also, we lost my dad to cancer in 2005, in 8 days, with no signs or warnings. It’s important to get your yearly physicals and tests, and to force insurance companies to subsidize the most updated methods of detection.
