WOW! All I can say is The Make A Wish Foundation is just AMAZING! Seriously!
I am speechless after seeing all that they provide. To think they add such a bright spot at such a dark time for families. All they kept saying was- its time that all the tears and hard work be rewarded. We can only give you a week, but we hope that will make this fight worth it. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! WORTH IT? Its amazing!
This has really given Alexa something to look forward to. Since we found out everyday all she talks about is meeting Cinderella and going to the Castle. Its such a simple thing but something we could not give her-not right now anyway.
The people at MAW are all so wonderful. They showed up with a bag full of Disney goodies for all 3 kids!
How do you thank an organization like that enough? Really?
I will share a card I made for them, as a small Thank You.
I wanted something DREAMY for this card. That signified the “WISH”. What does a wish look like?
To me it looks like this. Simple. clean, swirly, and sparkly!
For this I used my Cuttlebug swirls folder, & 2×2 folder-its a birthday sentiment. I covered it with the circle punch. Rubbed silver ink over the raised sentiment (perfect!). Traced the circle with my sakura glitter pen-love that thing! Punched a star from a metal sheet. The swirl is by Autum Leaves-flourish set. LOVE IT! Its embossed with irredescent ice. Very pretty IRL! I hope they like my card-I poured my hear tout in it! LOL!
All they ask is that we share photos of our trip. Now it all is becoming real! YIKES only like 9 days left!!! I haven’t planned anything cause I don’t want to get too excited just to have any one of us get Alexa sick-KWIM?
Anyway-just thought Id share my thoughts.
When something like this happens in your life you realize how important “time” is. I am SO volunteering once my life settles (kids go to school). And I am so THANKFUL for TODAY. Everyday is a gift.
Kiss your kids, call your loved one, cuddle on the couch, and enjoy today. Cause today you are here, together. Today you are alive, and healthy (even if its not perfectly healthy, it could be worse). Today is your memory tomorrow. SO make it count.

I just wanted to comment on your quote: “today is memory tomorrow, so make it count”. How true, how true. Very nice – thanks for the reminder.
As for vollunteering… I’ve been called a “volunteer-aholic”. I love volunteering. It’s the best! Volunteering gives you ‘warm fuzzies’ all over. Have fun with it.
Your card is absolutely the best. I love the sentiment stamp… it’s perfect!
Alexa looks so CUTE!! I adore your card – my BIL used to work with Make A Wish, he thoroughly enjoyed it, I believe he took professional photos of the events. It’s wonderful & I know y’all will have a memorable time!
“Kiss your kids, call your loved one, cuddle on the couch, and enjoy today. Cause today you are here, together. Today you are alive, and healthy (even if its not perfectly healthy, it could be worse). Today is your memory tomorrow. SO make it count.”
It doesn’t get any more real than that Lauren…you’re SO right. The photos you share with us are beautiful, and your thoughts even more so. God certainly knew what he was doing when he sent Alexa to you 🙂
I truly can’t express how happy I am for you guys, and I can feel the excitement through your posts.
I’ll be counting down the days with you…and look forward to more happy pictures to follow!!
Yeah, I got all “misty” too! Right after I finsih this post I’m going to go snuggle my hubby (Wyatt’s in bed!)! That’s awesome, and you guys should have the best time in the world! I think that I’m going to be up in Orlando at the same time, actually! We’ll be there Easter weekend. Anywho, the card is very special – love the flourishes with the star. TFS your blessings! 🙂
What a fun night it must have been! So glad that they are exceeding your expectations. It’s so rare in life that that happens, nowadays, and it couldn’t happen to nicer people!! Alexa looks overwhelmed and cute.
Your card for them was ideal! How incredible that you have an embossing folder with just that sentiment – oh, wait! I shouldn’t doubt that you would have that because I’ll bet you have a few to choose from…right?? LOL! Anyway, they’ve probably never gotten a card from another recipient after the initial visit and I can GUARANTEE that they’ve never seen one as beautiful!
So happy for all of you. You will need a “Vacation” when you come “back” from Disney. (all the running around 🙂 Maybe a little pedicure for Mom and Dad (hehe) Picts are great. Card is beautiful. Love the saying at the end. Having kids sure puts a different perspective on life. Your kids are lucky to have such a tender Mom. Continued prayers for you whole family.
Wow! I’m sure you’ll have so much fun making cherished memories while on your trip. Time is what we have and really what we need to be more grateful/aware of. I thought you might like to read this entry from my mom’s blog:

That is sooo cool that they brought things for all the kids!! Alexa looks so “princess’y”!! You are all going to have such a great time on your trip. Look forward to hearing all about it when you get back! ((HUGS))) to all of you!!
Wow! HOw awesome! My daughter was a recipient of Starlight Foundation about 5 years ago. We also went to Disney World. It was the best trip we ever went on. They are soooo wonderful at Disney! I don’t know you or your daughter’s situation but I hope you have a wonderful trip and you are soo right, make EVERY DAY count, they are all blessings! I would love for you to reply back!
OMG! I love the pics of Alexa! They are so adorable! Have a wonderful time in Disney, Lauren!
I love Make a Wish (they are one of the few charities that I have done volunteer work for). Knowing that they help bring a bright spot of joy to families in which a child is suffering from a serious illness makes my heart feel good. So happy to see that your family has benefitted from this great organization.
Linda
Lauren, that card looks exactly like a wish to me!!! Love it!

ok, i was fine, happy and giggly at those adorable pictures, until i got to the card. it made me cry. something so simple can say so much to so many people, for so many reasons. needless to say, it is beautiful.
sniff sniff…where are the tissues when you need them?! You continue to bless my life with your strength and viewpoint. You guys are going to have SO much fun and it will be something you cherish FOREVER. I’m praying everybody stays well so you can go and enjoy to the fullest!!!
I have found your entry by way of many links from other sites, so, needless to say, I don’t know you or fully grasp your current situation, but I just wanted to tell you that in light of a recent tragedy in our own lives, your comment has really helped me see some light. I wish you all the best on your trip and beyond. Thanks for your reminder about the loved ones in our lives… how true, how true.
I found your card and the link to your blog through SCS. You are a very talented stamper and your card looks like a million dollars. I hope you have a wonderful trip to Disney and I’m so glad that MAW could bring some happiness into what is obviously such a difficult time. They are a wonderful organization and your message to them with this card and on your blog is a wonderful tribute.
